After monitoring the player for 'some time', Liverpool are reportedly ready to make an official move for Valencia midfielder Sofiane Feghouli.
Reports in Italy and Spain today claim that the Reds are planning a €15m bid for the Algerian international.
A report in The Mirror over the weekend claimed:
"Reds scouts have been monitoring the 23-year-old for some time and the player’s representatives have been sounded out about a move in the summer.
"Valencia have to keep a tight ship financially and would likely listen to offers of around £13m"
Feghouli was linked with a move away from the Mestella in January, but ultimately ended up signing a new contract until 2016. At the time, he told reporters:
"There was interest from other clubs, but my concern has always been to make it work with Valencia. I go on to the field, and the rest, I leave to my agent."
Los Che’s sporting director, Braulio Vazquez, added:
"It’s a very important renewal on all levels. He’s grown a lot with us, his progression is clear. On a sporting level he is one of the most important people at the club for the next decade. His termination clause is very high."
In his column for Eurosport in December 2012, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger lavished praised on Feghouli. He enthused:
"Feghouli is physical beast, will, and he has great technical qualities. When you see what he does on the field, he is exceptional. We're all looking for players of his quality"
High praise indeed. If the Reds are really preparing a €15m bid, is this good news? Where would that leave Joe Allen?

Feghouli is an attacking midfielder i dont know where you got this info from.
ReplyDeletecant u ever get any information right u guys always describe attacking midfielder as defender and some times defender as third choice striker some times i think u journalist are disgrace to us and football
ReplyDeleteIs he a defensive midfielder? I have only seen him play a couple of times but he played as an attacking midfielder or a wide man cutting inside.
ReplyDeleteWe have to move on. cut your losses if need be. With the current squad, we will not be competing to be PL champs. That is the Holy Grail.
ReplyDeleteHe is an attacking mid i just had my comment removed on that one also Liverpool wanted him when he was still with Grenoble.
ReplyDeleteMust have been just a mistake in the article as 'defensive' no longer appears.
ReplyDeleteHe's an attacking midfielder which should leave Allen just where he is.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a really good player on the video although they are sometimes deceptive. Not really sure what position he plays or where he'd fit into our team but he looks like a good athlete with good skills and strong on the ball. Something I noticed watching the Spurs game the other day is that they looked stronger than us all across the field. That is something Rodgers is going to have to sort out in the summer starting at centre back and maybe another midfielder.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Liverpool may have signed Iturra i am guessing as a back up for Lucas surely they wont add too many more central players without selling some.
ReplyDeleteThey will have not have a sky high price, considering this is a club that is in such financial trouble as Valencia, regardless of the length of the contract left. Didn't think he was all that good at first but improved a lot last season. If it were Banega (yes please), than he would be a genuine direct threat to Allen but Feghouli likes to play in more advanced and narrow-wide roles.
ReplyDeleteAnother article today linked us to Iturra of Malaga. But he's only played thirteen matches for them this season...
ReplyDeleteWord of warning,IF and when we do get these high end players that have been linked to LFC,do we have the man managing skills to get them to play together.
ReplyDeletewhat does he have to do with Joe Allen, they're completely different players who play in different positions... Why can't everyone lay off Joe Allen for a bit, he's technically a very gifted player who started very well for the first quarter of the season. Since when have Liverpool players judged players after less than a season, he's just moved from Swansea and deserves at least a season and a half to fit into the team. Need I remind you of Lucas?
ReplyDelete*Liverpool fans
ReplyDeleteHe'll maybe likely play that many games for us too at the same point too, if he is to be back up for Lucas as some say
ReplyDeleteallen will be out in the cold saying that its pritty frosty were hes been sitting for quite a while now,do not think we will recoup anything like the amount we spent on him if he goe,s
ReplyDeleteWhy would he go? He's obviously got talent, why don't you get behind the team instead of constantly criticising. It's so tedious! What constructively have you got to say about him? I'm interested to know as statistically he's very good. Shelvey called himself the scapegoat for our poor performances in the middle of the season but I actually think it was Allen for many people.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/player-stats/17003/AllenHe will become a top player and I can't wait to see the moment when suddenly you change your tune, come out the woodwork and start claiming you've been singing his praises all along. Probably like you did with Lucas.
Really talented player!!!
ReplyDeleteOn a free it would be a no brainer!!!
ReplyDeletewe NOW only seem getting gel together recently...add so much atk player soon will take time to getting in back in a force....think wise...
ReplyDeleteIt will leave joe Allen as one of 6 midfield players. As BR says we need 2 players per position AND the younger players on top of that. With SG, LL,JA, JH being 4 I think there will be at least 2 coming in. I suspect Suso will go on loan and Shelvey will be sold.
ReplyDeletethats four players for two central positions so if he comes someone may well be sold
ReplyDeletei don't accept the parallel. Lucas was bought for £6m and was a player in the making. Joe Allen was signed for £15m.|For that money, he should be the finished article, and don't forget the manager enthusing he would soon be worth twice what the cluib paid for him. I accept that Joe Allen is gifted, but he isn't £15m worth of midfield player and has shown little evidence of becoming one. I may be wrong, and hope I am, but I'm convinced Joe Allen will end up a squad player rather than the first-choice player he should have been for the fee involved.
ReplyDeleteJust to add, Lucas was a foreign player with no playing experience of PL, as well as coming into a squad that had a better central midfield than it does now (a younger Gerrard, Xabi & Masch). So I agree, very different circumstances.
ReplyDeleteThink BR prefers a midfield 3 next season i think shelvey either out on loan or sold, suso out on loan too. BR wants 2 players each position so basically will want 6 central mids, lucas, gerrard, allen, hendo and 2 more in the summer iturra could be one of them id be happy with him on a free. Feghouli could probably play in a few positions for us in a 4-3-3 central or we could play with 2 behind a main striker he could fit in there also. Suarez and him behind sturridge would be some attacking 3 in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI hear Shelvey will be moved on to Stoke for around £7m and obviously Spearing will be gone too, so 2 out and 1 in sounds about right!
ReplyDeleteReally mate? Have you been watching at all this season?
ReplyDeleteWe've played just about every game (and correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm not) with 3 in the midfield, generally Lucas, Stevie and Hendo, so no its 3 central positions. 2 for every possy is 6 players. Two DM's, two playmakers and two attacking mids. If we brought in Feghouli and Iturra, two fantastic players, it would mean LL and Iturra at DM, Allen and Hendo as playmakers (although Im not sure thats a great fit for Hendo yet) and Stevie and Feghouli as Attackers. We'll also have at least one youth player for each spot, with Coady at DM, Jonjo as a boxtobox and Suso as an AM.
I've been watching Feghouli for a while and he isn't all that good.. A better choice would be Cirigliano
ReplyDeleteplease sign isco from malaga as long term gerrard replacment lots of money but next big thing .
ReplyDeleteallen as an attacker say no more and you ask what have i been watching
ReplyDeleteHe according to recent reports has been struggling with a shoulder injury since October which coincides with his loss of form really. Give Allen another season.
ReplyDeleteToo many people writing off players who have been at the club a very short period of time.
Feghouli only just signed a new contract midway through the season, I don't think he'll be leaving and if he does it won't be for a price that Rodgers will pay.
ReplyDeleteSpearing?????????????? Where have you been all this year??
ReplyDeleteThe fact of the matter is.. Who will take over from SG when he goes? I'd say he has about 2 more seasons after this 1. He has played every min of this season. We need another SG in there next season. I thought Shelvey could do it but he needs to grow up a bit. Who is out there to do a SG job???
ReplyDeleteand m8 as a rule i am not one of them but allen will never be worth the money we paid for him imo hes average at best is stats are poor not only for us but at swansea as well even in the championship is goals and assists for someone playing in his position were poor to say the least
ReplyDeleteHe is an attacking mid. He plays from the wing nowadays, as you say.
ReplyDeleteI didn't say Allen was an attacker, and I do request sincerely that you properly read my posts. To quote myself "Allen and Hendo as Playmakers". Allen isn't an attacker, he is someone who sits alongside the DM and gives him an outlet and recycles play. He's there to link the 3 lines and he'll only improve from here. He may not ever be worth £15m, but he can definately improve into a quality player.
ReplyDeleteThe glass is always half empty isnt it JC?
