'LFC is a great club' - Reds eye €3m star Suarez once called 'simply incredible'.

Fiorentina striker Mounir El Hamdaoui has admitted that he is excited about speculation linking him with a summer move to Liverpool FC.

Speaking to Sky Sports earlier this week, the Morocco international insisted that he's 'happy at Fiorentina', but went on to praise the Reds in emphatic terms:

"Being linked with Liverpool is flattering.

"Liverpool are a great club and to play there in a legendary stadium like Anfield would be fantastic and a dream".

Since joining Fiorentina from Ajax last summer in a €3m deal, El Hamdaoui has made only three starts for the Viola, which is strange considering he was a fairly prolific goalscorer/creator for Ajax:

2008-9: 33 goals/assists in 33 apps.
2009-10: 23 goals/assists in 34 apps.
2010-11: 20 goals/assists in 36 apps.
2011-12: Didn't play due to dispute with Frank De Boer.

For whatever reason, the move has just not worked out for the 28-year-old, which makes it all the more likely he'll be available this summer.

One LFC player who'll probably be in favour of the move is Reds striker Luis Suarez, who played alongside El Hamdaoui at Ajax, and is clearly a massive fan of the guy. In 2010, Suarez delivered the following glowing assessment of the Moroccan:

"Mounir is simply incredible. I'm very pleased that he decided to join Ajax this summer. He really adds something to the team with his goals and assists. [He has] extraordinary qualities, [and] only a few players have the class to score those kinds of amazing goals"

That's some seriously glowing praise from Suarez there, and if El Hamadaoui is as good as the Uruguayan claims, then he could be a very astute acquisition for the club.

Worth a bid in the summer...?

  6. i dont think ive seen a goal "montage" with such composure infront of goal. he doesnt just shoot, he coldly puts the ball in... if we can get him for under 8m. we should get him... i have complete trust in ajax producing quality players.

  7. His stats are impressive and if Suarez says that theres something worthwhile there,It all depends on his price something under £5 would be decent me thinks

  8. You can't judge assaidi yet, he's hardly played and he was buttons. BR should give him a chance

  9. Wow! 3m Euros? You gotta be kidding. This guy pops them into goal like he means it, no accidents. I'd trade Borini for this guy any day!

  10. This is the sort of scouting that gives me hope of a bright future! This guy looks talented, for that price it's difficult to loose. Will it help Saurez to stay? I don't know but he looks like a skillful finisher!

  11. Sure Suarez is in a lot of that video and it's a massive 100% per cent !yes please! from me based on the quality of those goals

  12. There is no doubt, he once was a top draw player, but my concerns are about why he has hardly played in two years. Thats a long long time for someone of his age. Sure you may not lose skill, but you will certainly lose a lot of other things.

I would guess he would be peanuts though, so maybe good for a back up, and if he works out, then its a great bonus. A lot of questions need anwsering first though, like has he still been training? why doesn`t he get game time now? what was his dispute over? How long will it take to get him back to match fitness? Does he even have any of the attributes that he once had? Or is he like so many players, that were once good, but aren`t now.

  13. He scores exactly like Robin Van Persie

  14. Finishing and goal record look amazing and could be a bargain. However, record also looks like he already peaked, plus 'problems' in the last two seasons - is his attitude and desire still there, one wonders.
If signed at the cheap, could be a decent squad player but would he want that?

  15. One mystery in Assaidi is enough.

  16. This guy looks awesome! Cool as you like, knows how to finish. All his goals are so composed. He might hit a goal trail like Van Nistelrooy used to have with the Mancs

  19. Well, fiorentina want borini right? I still wish borini can improve and become a good player for us, but i wouldnt mind to swap him with this guy plus some cash

  20. What a finisher!!!..........two footed too!!..............Suarez rates him massively, so why not??

  21. Didn't we get Assaidi for like £2mill..?

  22. Completely agree with what you say so no need for me to write anything now lol

  23. I wouldn't be too excited about signing this guy. He seem to have his best years behind him and seem to have peaked already 3-4 years ago. If you watch the montage, it is pretty evident that this guy is not particularly fast or has great physical strength. Even though he seem to have fairly good positional awareness, some pretty intelligent runs and very accurate shot, he seem to require quite a lot of space for his shot which doesn't seem to be very hard either. I surely doubt that kind of display will be enough in the Premiership.

If you want to compare to van Persie, I would recon that RVP is faster, stronger, has more powerful shot and top of it all his positional sense is superb compared to any footballer. El Hamdaoui does not have these qualities and he will not have the time and space he needs to score in the Premier League.

In addition, majority of these goals shown were hit for AZ and that happened about 3-5 years ago and he couldn't hit it off very well in Fiorentina this season. That's why I have hard time seeing him excel at Liverpool either as he did not manage very well in Tottenham when he was younger. I don't believe he is worth of 3m since Premiership is far more demanding for his strengths than any other league he has played before.

  24. Mr. Point Of View9:38 am, March 16, 2013

im not convince he can break thru team soon....loan out is best option....nor his talent will rotten at bench.....unless we had major sales coming soon...

  25. This is what we're still needing. For all of the brilliance of Suarez and the qualities of Sturridge, we're still missing a cold blooded, fully composed assassin in front of goal to convert the bucket loads of chances we're creating. I, for one, would welcome this chap to our club.

  26. I hope for every player we sign to be great but, sadly, Borini hasn't lived up to expectations and is making David N'Gog look better.

    ReplyDelete
  27. im pretty amazed on how well he converts those chances on the video. but youtube only tells you so much. he might be a berbatov like player, scores goals, but workrate is absolute rubbish.... who knows. he seemed to link up well with suarez also in the video.
