Summer bid? LFC chase Man City star who 'impressed' Patrick Viera

Liverpool are reportedly one of a number of Premier League clubs monitoring Manchester City youngster Abdisalam Ibrahim.

According to Sky Sports today:

"A number of clubs are keeping tabs on Manchester City starlet Abdisalam Ibrahim.

"The likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Everton, West Ham and West Brom are all keeping tabs on Ibrahim's progress at Stromsgodset"

The 21-year old midfielder - who has been compared to Patrick Vieira and Yaya Toure - is currently on loan at Norwegian side Stromsgodset and he helped his team get off to a winning start to the new season with a man-of-the-match performance in Sunday's 2-0 victory over Sandnes Ulf.

Ibrahim is getting his career back on track after being sent home early from a disappointing loan spell with NEC last year. When the move ended, Technical director Carlos Aalbers told NEC's official website:

"Abdisalem had it difficult in his role as a reserve. It was therefore better for everyone that he would return to Manchester City to get his career back on track."

Man City's Football Development Executive Patrick Vieira watched Ibrahim in action on Sunday, and after the game, the France legend admitted he was 'impressed' with Ibrahim, who was clearly pleased that to hear that Vieira attended the game: the 6'2 midfielder, who told reporters:

"I am happy the way that the season has started and it is nice to hear Patrick Vieira was here to watch me. I want to continue improving and remain focused on my game and we will see in the summer what Manchester City plan to do with me."

Ibrahim's current deal expires in 2014.

  1. If you wish you can watch LFC's games in full or their highlights on http://www.footballwatch.net/team/37

  2. Never heard of him but if PV thinks highly of him then that's a good sign.

  3. another one for the future shame we don,t seem to think about now

  4. oh yes, now this is a player right up our street!! compared to Viera and Yaya Toure, deffo spend all the 20 mil on him! it reminds me of the following comparisons of Cherou was the next Zidane, lol. Liverpool right now needs quality players. we have an abundance of youth in the squad and BR needs to understand he is not coaching youth teams. If he does not sign high profile players at the start of the summer and signs maybe's then Suarez and others may just jump ship.

  5. Agree with you totally, we seem to have an abundance of youth but no scope to look at durrent quality, RVP is a great example of how Man Utd spend loads on an older player who significantly has made the difference. The more i think about the current Liverpool team the more i despair, 20m in the new transfer window is not enough under BR. Unlike KD who had injuries and suspensions to 1st team players, this year agger (made of glass) gerrard (first time played every game) surez etc have been fully fit!!! I just hope in the summer we are not cashing in on rubbish like Borini and Allen. We slated KD for spending 20m on hendo but he seems to be a more developed and all round better player than allen, allen reminds me of david batty; sideways and backwards!!!!

  6. batty would at least get stuck in allen just dose nothing

  7. im hoping hendo carries on his good form ( why was he dropped anyway ) the downside is it will keep rogers in a job by default because we are a better team with him in the side...its ironic if he does as rogers ( read thick ) was trying to off load him..if allen had stayed fit and played, i 100% believe rogers would be sacked come end of season....I really cant stand rogers....not as a manager but as a person hell be bumming up shelvey and hendo now in the papers because they can keep him in a job ....and i thought i was two faced

  8. allen is rubbish, nowhere near worth 15m. worth about 3m. respect him for his work rate but other than that hes useless to our cause. terrible signing, championship or PL relegation battle level player

dont even get me started on borini. absolute nonsense. worst player liverpool have signed in the past ten years. carrol is probly the worst but thats only because of his price tag, if we got carroll for what we paid for borini i would take carrol over borini. borini is useless, COMPLETELY useless

  9. Get a grip WOW you really mustn't have a good memory of the complete drab we have seen over the last 10 years,Borini is a good little player, whether he'll make it at Liverpool is still debatable yet but he'll be a useful player when he gets a bit of luck and playing time

  10. Not again. Are you kidding me? Dose?
