'I'll move' - LFC eye £23m goal-machine who won 'Footballer of the Year' 3 times

Liverpool are reportedly tracking Armenia attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who currently plays for Shakhtar Donetsk.

According to a report in The Telegraph:

"Brendan Rodgers is highly impressed by Armenia attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

"He sent Michael Edwards and Barry Hunter - Liverpool's overseas scout - to watch the 24-year-old play for his country against Czech Republic this week. Edwards was joined by ".

Mkhitaryan seems to be angling for a move away, and Thursday, he told Sky Sports:

"For every player to play for the strongest clubs in the world is a dream, and I will do everything possible to move this summer to a different team."

However, last night, the 24-year old playmaker appeared to change his tune, and argued that he was just joking around with his earlier statement:

"I'm a player of Shakhtar and I have a contract until 2015. I answered a question in a playful way. I have misunderstood or someone has misinterpreted my words."

£23m-rated Mkhitaryan has grabbed an amazing 18 goals in 17 games for Donetsk this season, which is a fantastic return for an attacking midfielder, and he is determined to keep his form going to preserve the status he's worked to hard to achieve. He told Shakhtar's official website:

“It’s hard to achieve something, but you can lose it in one minute, so I know the value of what I have achieved, and I hope that I won’t ever lose it. Sometimes, I intentionally listen to what people talk about me. That’s pleasing and motivational for me to perform even better"

Mkhitaryan also admitted that he used to criticism, and expects to be pulled up when he delivers a poor performance:

“I never take the praise, if I know that I played badly. The situation has changed now: when my performance is poor, my countrymen start criticizing me, whereas they only praised me before"

Mkhitaryan has received a raft of accolades recently:

* Armenian Footballer of the Year in 2009, 2011 and 2012.
* Best Shakhtar player of 2011–12 season by the fans.
* Named in UEFA's Top 100 players by UEFA European Football Yearbook 2012-13.
* Voted CIS Footballer of the Year for 2012.

Worth a bid if the price is right?

  4. good looking signing but where would he fit with liverpool as we currently have coutinho sitting behind the strikers or otherwise its suarez sat behind sturridge, would be an ideal signing if he could ply his trade on the right wing where we are currently struggling with only downing and sterling playing on the right. The guy with the black afro lookied pretty good who was involved in assisting most of the goals in the video posted.
