'Our objectives are clear' - La Liga giants prepare £35m bid for 'outstanding' LFC star.

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is reportedly in line for a huge pay-rise at Anfield, but this has not deterred other clubs from continuing to pursue the coveted attacked, and repors today suggest that Atletico Madrid are preparing a summer move for the prolific Uruguayan.

With start-striker Radamel Falcao almost certain to leave during the summer transfer window, Atletico are on the lookout for a replacement, and Suarez - once again hailed as 'outstanding' by Reds boss Brendan Rodgers this week - is their preferred choice, and the club is willing to pay £35 for the striker.

An Atletico Source told the Daily Mail:

"We won’t be making firm approaches [for Suarez] until May but our objectives are absolutely clear. We’ll be back at the top level in Europe and we’re not going to be short of quality when we get there"

Liverpool coach Brendan Rodgers recently conceded that he'll have to spend this summer rebuffing bids for Suarez, but but speaking to the official LFC site last week, the Reds' top scorer insisted that:

* He 'enjoys every minute to the maximum' at Anfield, and:

* He 'would love to be able to stay' at the club as long as Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher.

When asked specifically about his immediate future, Suarez added:

"I always say the same thing, every kid or young player growing up dreams of playing here at Liverpool, and today, here I am, highly privileged doing just that.

"It's a great opportunity that my life has presented me and for which I am very pleased.

"I'm here at a club where I always wanted to be and where I always wanted to play, and for that I'm extremely happy."

It's great to see Suarez's apparent commitment to the club, and although Ian Ayre recently claimed the club's financial position won't lead to player sales, the reality is that money talks, and if a club comes in with a ridiculous offer for Suarez, FSG - as businessmen - will definitely listen (IMO)

But £35m? You're having a laugh. If Torres went for £50m, then Suarez is easily worth the same, if not more.

  3. And the rest Madrid. And the rest..... I really understand what FSG want to do with LFC. They got a lot of things to sort out which takes time, like cutting wage bill down. This should free up wages for the better calibre player. The stadium issue is a long running saga. Investing more in our youth facilities/homegrown players.
However, players like Suarez deserve to be playing at the top, so we do need to create the team around him by signing as good as we can attract. We must show ambition in the players we try to sign or Suarez will leave for sure. This summer window will be pivotal and as fans, we will see how ambitious our owners are.
Obviously some players are not attainable like Falcao, but there are plenty of quality players that will improve our squad. I have a great feeling about Coutinho and he was £8M. Hardly big money these days but great so far, nonetheless. When you compare this to Downing, Carroll and Hendersons' fees, it does make you wonder the logic of most of iur sugnings. So, it is possible to get the right player in the right deal.

  4. I don't think Suarez  would want to replace another player. He will stay if he wins the golden boot.

  5. Jokers, eh?

If they want Suarez, and they're serious about putting a bid in, then FSG should call them out and say they can have him: for Falcao!

If any club wants to make an enquiry for Suarez then FSG should only entertain ridiculous offers, if at all. In fact, if FSG turned down a mental offer they would send the message to Suarez that they are determined to keep him and don't just see him as a chip to cash in.

  6. They've got as much chance of getting him for £35 mill as Arsenal have of getting Bale for £20 mill.

To me he's £70 mill, all day long.

  7. Really this isn't about them (Atletico Madrid) nor the "source",it's once again the Daily Mail (Nick Harris) writing obscure stories about Suarez and others. This same rag has Suarez going to Bayern,Citeh,PSG ....... Absolute nonsense Daily Mail

  8. 35m? What do they think? Want to sign one of the world's best players for a pittance?

  9. Last time RvP won the golden boot, and we know what happened :)

  10. Yep, we should tell them that we'd start negotiating, if an offer of 70m comes in. We could still meet in the middle then if we'd put an asking price of 150m on him.

  11. Ridiculously low amount to be suggested for such a unique player. Irreplaceable.

  16. Now you're talking JK. And why would Suarez want to go to Atletico anyway. They're in the same position we're in. A big club, trying to get back to big results but at Anfield he knows what is going. If he was to leave it would be to go to a club that is there already which basically leaves Barca, Real, Bayern and Juve and only at the latter two would he be the superstar he currently is at LFC.

  17. Jk wil be glad to see him go,anti SUarez

  18. Yeah Jk all those negative comments you put against Suarez....now he is a star scoring lots of goals

  19. They're not in the same position as us. They aren't a big club and they never have been a big club.
