With the futures of Fabio Borini and Luis Suarez up in the air at the moment, Liverpool continue to look at alternate striking options, and Spartak Moscow striker Emmanuel Emenike is apparently one of the players on the club's wanted list.
According to Sky Sports, Liverpool and Arsenal have sent scouts to watch Eminike perform in the African Cup of Nations, and so far 25-year old has grabbed three goals for Nigeria, and helped the team into the semi-finals of the competition.
A few days ago, Reporters quizzed Eminike about interst from the Reds and the Gunners, and he seemed very happy to be linked with a move to the Premier League. He enthused:
"I am playing in Russia at the moment and I have a contract that I intend to respect, but to be linked with the Premier League is a dream come true. I would love to play there in my career. There are many great clubs there."
In July 2011, whilst at Fenerbahce, Police arrested the striker on suspicion of match-fixing, but Turkish Courts didn't move ahead with the allegations due to lack of evidence. Five months later, Emenike - along with thirteen other players - was actually officially charged with match-fixing, and if convicted, he faces three years in prison.
After being accused of match-fixing, Eminike left Fenerbahce without having played a single game, and upon joining Spartak in a €10m deal, he said:
"I left Turkey because there wasn't anything going on in my life here. They said stuff about my age, the police took me and put me in a cell for four days - I'd never been in a cell in my life. I like Turkey, people welcomed me as a brother, but some people were just trying to destroy my career."
This transfer link is kind of ironic considering the recent Debrecen-Liverpool match-fixing issue (!), but with this court case hanging over him, it seems unlikely that Liverpool would risk signing the Nigerian. Of course, Eminike is innocent until proven guilty, and if the club has actually sent scouts to watch him, then it may be be seen as such a big deal at Anfield.
Worth a bid?

ReplyDeleteIt is everyone's biggest match when they play against us.
ReplyDeleteNot an exact quote. Antonio Conte.
It all depends if we sell Suarez in the summer
ReplyDeleteHow is Suarez' future "up-in-the-air"?
ReplyDelete'Stuff about his age'? I've heard this with a few African players.
ReplyDeleteLiverpool would be the perfect rubes to buy a 31 year old masquerading as a 25 year old.
wtf more bs, when, what is suarez up in the air ??? wishful thinking is it??
ReplyDeleteborini wouldnt be surprised the prem looks bit tough for him.

ReplyDeleteNo, all very much the same, Suarez still gets mentioned in every post, Jas is still the posters figure of hate, and every now and then a random will post some comment which contains nothing but abuse, manifested in four letter swear words. So rest assured every is as it should be, and order has been restored.
ReplyDeleteP.S don`t like this post, might end up banned for a week again ;-)
P.S.S Jamie take this as a joke, which is how it is intended ;-) (legal cover for myself, so i dont get banned for attempting a joke about you getting ban, ohh the irony of it all).

I don't see a problem? People with poor grammar should not participate?!?
ReplyDeleteAnd tell me what were those unforgivable mistakes I made in the sentence you are referring to? Take it easy, if it's understandable it's good enough...
'figure of hate' comes to rescue the credibility and fair play of the site... hehe..

ReplyDeleteVermHat, what article do you read that, show me the proof.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a underhanded cowardly sterotypical comment made to look intelligent but just undercover stereotypical racist bollocks I suspect.
We support LFC, if you making this shit up go and support Millwall
all i know is eminike is an absolute beast in fifa 13 and if he is anywhere that standard in real life then we should be definatley looking to sign this guy
ReplyDeleteNo, to me, he got the ball, then the player fell over him, so no pen. I know stuff has changed, but I always think if you get the ball before you hit a player then it isnt a foul or a pen. Unless there is very bad intent, or your leg is very high. Neither of which happened here.
