Ahead of this weekend's home game with Swansea, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has provided an injury update on Daniel Agger and Daniel Sturridge, and discussed his approach to this weekend's vital Premier League game.
In his pre-match press conference today, Rodgers had some good news about Daniel Sturridge. He told Reporters:
"Daniel has come in and made a terrific impact. He's been great, and he'll be fit for the weekend"
On Daniel Agger:
"We've had to managed Daniel all the way through the season. He didn't come out to make sure he's fit for the weekend. He stayed at home and trained, and he'll be fine for the weekend"
On Liverpool's top four chances:
"Maybe we're just not good enough this time. Being a realist, it's going to very, very difficult. We needed to be more consistent, and with all due respect, we haven't been this season. It's going to be a huge task. The reality is losing the game on Monday night makes it very difficult"
On Coutinho's chances of starting against Swansea this Sunday:
"He's certainly in my thinking. You can see the kid's qualities. He's got good experience for a young player. For sunday, we'll have a look over the next few days. He knows the way I work, and he has the qualities to come in and make an impact".
On the possibility of a Europa League hangover this weekend:
"No, not really. It's not ideal that the game's this Sunday. We may need to freshen it up a bit, but we'll have the same ambition, drive and determination to get a result. The players will be really up for the game"

ha ha had to laugh at his comment, being a realist,he a right walter mitty
ReplyDeleteGood that Sturridge is back, who would have thought we would miss him so much, when most fans didn`t even want him
ReplyDeleteHaha for us to get top 4 is the same challenge for city to win the league...Its not going to happen Im afraid BUT I would love to see us put on a 4 or 5 win streak seeing as our fixtures are kind for the next while,But Im not holding my breath
ReplyDeleteWhy didnt Lucas start? That was a big problem....
ReplyDeleteRodgers has the right vision but it's just goner take abit longer to put together, but I trust him, looking forward to seeing sturridge back takes pressure off luis, and when coutinho came on against west brom looked a decent player, can take the man on and take a shot on. Fits in nicely, only 20 too, we could have a real gem on our hands.
ReplyDeletewe're talking about BR mate, don't try to find any logic in his plans, you might end up in a mental hospital, lol
ReplyDeleteBlah blah blah. Same old same old. Tired of BR now. Ancelotti cant come too soon...
ReplyDeleteI am seeing KK in BR now. Always blame the luck rarely stated that the player are not good enough...
ReplyDeleteI just hope we don't drop another 3 points this Sunday, fingers crossed, another defeat would be very very difficult to accept .
ReplyDeleteDont hold your breath...
ReplyDeletewould love to see us at least put pressure on rivals and make them slip up. our rivals now play their matches without even thinking about us. our slump in recent years is really painful to stomach
ReplyDeleteAre you trying to imply that fans can be wrong on occasion?
ReplyDeleteNo... say it isn't so!
BR should have saw getting a draw against Oldham with our best team and bringing them back to anfield as a great opportunity. We would have won the replay and be lookin forward to a great merseyside derby tomorrow. In the next round a home draw would get us to wembley and then maybe dream of getting man utd in the final.Win that and everyones happy.Oh no BR thought we could get top 4,now hes putting all his energy into europa league and thats gone.Great manager BR,really knows what hes doing.
ReplyDeletewho would think it huh lol
ReplyDeleteYeah it is but just remember we were no more then a few days from being another Rangers so as long as we can become stable we will start to grow again
ReplyDeleteI really dont know how you can say we're out of the Europa League, all we have to do is at least win 2-0 and then go from there,We could have easily won the game in Russia so you dont think we will have more of a chance in Anfield? We are still well in this tie,If they score its over but whos to say that will happen?
ReplyDeleteBR is right about one thing..we lack consistency. The squad is just not good enough for a CL spot. We need to bolster our wings, FBs, and CBs. Sacking BR at the end of the season would be putting the club back on square one. It'll all have to start over again. This team needs stability and we need patience.
ReplyDeletein rodgers you rust, and how you can comment about coutinho is beyond compare decent player what over 6 min you wll give any excuse for rodgers ,
ReplyDeletecourtino is a lightwiright surrounded by other lightweights...it just wont wash we will get out muscled by every team we paly
ReplyDeleteThe same ambition, drive and determination as against Zenit?
ReplyDeleteOh no.
I'm just seasoning my hat right now, I thought br would play him wide, so glad he hasn't.
ReplyDeleteIt was Allen's chance to prove himself and put pressure on Lucas. What I find a bit funny is that br is playing Allen further back than he played him at Swansea. His physicality comes into play more and the short technical passing side of his game less... I'd love to see Allen get more time playing in front of Lucas but it's hard cause who do you take out?
ReplyDeleteHis lack of experience in winning was exposed. If he is to stay, we can only hope he learns quickly from this.
ReplyDeleteIt really seems like now that he says where the wind blows like a blagger does. If he's a realist, then he should've realised long ago that we don't have a british barcelona and changed tactics accordingly.
ReplyDeleteThere is still time for him to play him wide, but hopefully it doesn`t look like he will...
ReplyDeletehe blagged the job in the 1st place
ReplyDeletey didnt lucas start??? allen?!?!?! seriously he looks a lost chicken on the field
ReplyDeleteHe goner fit in well, Oscar, hazard, bale,Walcott, are hardly big boys are they? He can make the same impact in the next few seasons, also Rodgers is goner buy some big players in the summer so we don't get out muscled every time....
ReplyDeleteHaha, did you watch the game? He made a impact when he came on, straight away took the man on had a shot (was goin in but a handball blocked it) give it a rest your always moaning, have a day without it.
ReplyDeleteyour a dreamer how the hell can you say it was going in infact how can you say it was even on target, take it you will be quite for a day or two if we lose tomorrow as usual,
