Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly keen to sign French defender Nicolas Isimat Mirin as part of a massive £40m spending spree during the January transfer window.
According to a report today in the Sunday Express, FSG are 'impressed' with Rodgers' managerial impact during his first six months at Liverpool, and the group is willing to sanction moves for Daniel Sturridge, Thomas Ince, Jack Butland and Valenciennes midfielder Nicolas Isimat Mirin. The report states:
"Brendan Rodgers will be handed £40million by his board as he prepares to overhaul his Liverpool team.
"Cash will be splashed out on snapping up French defender Nicolas Isimat Mirin. The stopper, 21, is available for a cut-price fee as he only has 18 months remaining on his deal at French Ligue 1 club Valenciennes".
The 21-year-old graduate of the Clairefontaine academy has established himself as a regular in the Valenciennes side this season, and his current contract expires in 2014.
If Rodgers signed isimat Mirini, it would surely mean the end of Sebastian Coates' Liverpool career. After all, why would he consider signing another young central defender if he has faith in the Uruguayan?
Of course, if Coates is leaving anyway, then Rodgers will need a replacement, and reports in Brazil this week suggest that a January move away from Anfield could be on the cards. A report on Friday in Brazilian newspaper Folha de S.Paulo stated:
"Santos are also targeting another player, Uruguayan Sebastian Coates of Liverpool, who is also coveted by São Paulo. Coates' father recently dined with members of the Santos hierarchy, who expressed an interest in bringing the player back to South America in January".
Recent reports in Italy, Portugal and the UK also claim that Coates' future at Liverpool is far from secure, and last week, the Daily Mail stated:
"Liverpool are in the market for a centre back with concerns over the future of Sebastian Coates. The Uruguay defender is attracting interest from Italian clubs. Juventus are among them as they look to replace 34-year-old Lucio".
Coates - who signed for LFC in a £7m (€9m) deal last summer - has made only 9 starts since signing for the club, and with the first-choice partnership of Martin Skrtel/Daniel Agger firmly entrenched at the club, that's not going to change for a while yet.

Not really.... Carrahgher is retiring soon.... We need 4 CB's skrtel, agger,Coates, and this guy....
ReplyDelete12m for Sturridge, 4 for Ince. 2 for this french bloke and 5 for Butland.... Hows that adding up to 40 mill?
ReplyDeletespot on
ReplyDeleteI believe the shopping isn't over. BR has gained confidence of the owners & won't be surprised if LFC goes for a really good AM in the range of 23-25mn, specially, if we can off-load Downing, Cole, Cotes, Carroll, even Henderson, we 'll have another 20-25mn.
ReplyDeleteWould MUCH rather prefer we fork out the remaining 20 mil (Assuming we use the other 20mil on Sturridge and Ince) on a quality attacking mid in the same mould as Cazorla and mayb a spare DM (as we saw what happens when Lucas gets injured)
ReplyDeleteI was thinking LFC will get Bent on loan (Sturridge was injured at that time and not starting too many games) and buy Ince. I was wrong about Bent as now he is injured and we went for Sturridge. Interesting buy though.
ReplyDeleteVery wrong move on sturridge as I dont know much about the other players in the article but sturridge for 12m really? An extreme selfish player and an injury prone as well never proved himself at city or chelsea now we take him phew when these people gonna understand that we need world class strikers not these english talents that serve for nothing, when?
ReplyDeleteyes we could also off load assaidi borinni and allen
ReplyDeleteMy French mates keep telling me that Isimat is a real talent and may turn out to be the dog's bollocks. Would be great if we actually signed a Frenchman who turned out being good enough. Anyway, this signing shouldn't come at the expense of Coates, unless the manager and coaches rate his so little that he has absolutely no future with us.
ReplyDeleteThink the original article stated that the signings of Sturridge and Ince would take up two thirds of the 40m. Probably including all sorts of fees (signing on fee if there is any, agents and so on).
ReplyDeleteEverton have just offered a packet of crisps for you, too. Sorry, I found that funny. No offence meant.
ReplyDeleteBR has not been given £40mill to spend on players. He has just been given the backing of the owners without a set amount. They have made it clear that they will fun us in areas that we need players. Reina is staying at liverpool untill the summer at least. Coates will be staying at lfc also because he has impressed rogers everytime he has got a chance ( which is not many) and I'm sure he's made it clear that he will be getting more opportunities once carragher has retired. Our only transfer activity will be for the likes of Daniel sturridge, Tom ince and possibly a loan. Like I said he has the owners backing but to an extent. They blindly kept funding Kenny daglish and they're not impressed how that turnt out.
ReplyDeleteSpot on here, the money is inclusive of agents' fees, player signing on fees & wages.
ReplyDeleteSahin has stated that his preferred role is as a holding midfielder, maybe a decent option and one I'd like to see utilised rather than Allen.
ReplyDeleteI agree he's selfish but others, like myself, could construe this as him having a ruthless streak in front of goal. Hopefully the faith put in him by BR will encourage him to become a better team player and go for the pass when it's the better option - as we saw with Suarez yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI'm willing to get behind the lad, he hit 8 goals in 12 games on loan for Bolton, on their way to being relegated. If he can do that in a struggling team, imagine how many he will score for us with the amount of chances we create every game. I'm optimistic that Sturridge can turn out to be a very shrewd buy and the missing piece of the jigsaw.
that much i will get my boots
ReplyDeleteMaybe Kelly & Wisdom are being earmarked for playing in the centre? We still have Flanagan & Robinson to cover the fullback positions and possibly even Coady to cover at CB?
ReplyDeletejaimie if we sell coates for lets say 6million and buy this guy for 2million hows that a spending spree
ReplyDeleteI think Sturridge will be a great buy. If we can get Ince for about 5 or 6 then he won't be a bad buy. I would love to see Llorente or Hooper who would both be available for cheap.
ReplyDeleteWe are extremely strong favs to sign Llorente with the bookies. We have also made an attempt to sign him previously so might be something to it and he openly says he would like to play in England. :)
till the end of his loan deal, because imo hes not worth the money real will want
ReplyDeleteits not going to happen not if we buy sturrridge
ReplyDeleteLlorente?? Maybe not, but who knows? More than likely Sturridge will be played out wide. Even with Sturridge we still need another striker if not 2!!
ReplyDeleteI wouldnt say no to Mertins either :)
just dont think fsg will sanction another big money striker
ReplyDeleteIn fairness Sturridge ain't a 'Big Money Striker'. 12 million has been quoted which I personally think is a bargain for a striker of Sturridges quality. Remember when he was playing out on the right under AVB, he was class, a constant threat and plenty of goals. If need be, he can play up front aswell, his preferred position. His goalscoring record up front is really good. He was exceptional at Bolton. He knows where the goal is and ain't shy infront of it. He may be considered greedy at times but I think Rodgers will get the best out of him and I think he will be a great addition to the team. He should settle in no prob, he extremely familiar with the league and will know lots of the English Liverpool players, many of whom he will have already played with.
ReplyDeleteA defender and a goalkeeper, just what we are crying out for both top goalscorers top manager is Brendon, if it's true
ReplyDeleteIf we get 17 million for carroll and 10 for Downing, then the Americans will have spent next to nothing, they have had 80 million come in.
ReplyDeleteSahin or Suso ? no contest Sahin. I would play neither but play Lucas in front of Allen.
ReplyDeletei think 12 million is a lot to fsg
ReplyDeletemore like 6-7m for Ince
ReplyDeletejust a point see chelsea won 8.0 against villa today so i will not be getting to carried away with our win yesterday
ReplyDeletewhat about pepe no saves
ReplyDeletecogratulations to the justice collection on xmas number1 listening to it now brings a tear to the eye
ReplyDeleteI'd sign Ashley Williams; Fergie thinks he wonderful !!!.
ReplyDeletekeep pepe keep most of them really i just dont get all the fuss about allen
ReplyDeleteI dont think its alot of money for FSG!! They have stated that they can compete with the likes of barca and real when it comes to transfers if the deal is worth it. Also liverpool mad 400 million pound last year only 6 teams were better than that so i think its fair to say we will spend it sensibly after the daglish fiasco
ReplyDeletewhat they say and what they do are 2 entirley different thing
ReplyDeletedream on.....we will be realistically getting 8 -12m for the pair
ReplyDeletesorry mate but have to disagree on coates .the epl is high tempo and pace . coates has no pace to play in this league. for a young man of 21 he is so slow ive seen milk turn quicker.with this new guy and kelly coming back we have ample cover for ms and da . and carras last two games have been top draw so sell him recoup the fee and give carra another 12 months contract .also lets rid of reina while he has still some sell on value .but would be lucky to get 5million for him dont forget he is on 90 k a week .not bad for a keeper who doesnt make saves any more.
ReplyDeletesahin may come good but for the money hes on its just not happening......send him back to real when his loan is up ....give coady a spot on the bench
ReplyDeletea holding player who doesn't seem to want to tackle ...a novel idea
ReplyDeleteI really dont want ince let him go elsewhere for big bucks and we will get a cut...may be im being naive but all i see in the media is him saying what he wants and demanding starts etc...bottom line is he has had a good season for Blackpool and already hes calling the shots...give this guy a wide berth hes trouble
ReplyDeletesorry m8 but i will have to correct you about allen ,as i have been told many times on this site, hes an attacking midfielder who dose not attack even noveler
ReplyDeleteanother subject what is all the fuss about this fulham centre half hangalang or what ever his name is ? papers linkin him with moves to arsenal etc .seen him a few times .just dont see what people see in him .was shockin yesterday apoor mans titus bramble
ReplyDeletedecent player but he had no midfield infront off him yesterday due to injuries and suspensions,a poor mans titus bramble?god i will buy that poor man his first pair of shoes
ReplyDeleteTo FSG I'd say sign Arsene Wenger
ReplyDeleteHonestly cant believe we're going for Sturridge and for 12mil!?! That's Demba Ba (with his 7mil clause) or we could have got Llorient for that who is twice the player sturridge is on the field and 10times the player off it. Sturridge is a cocky twat and if we we're having some concerns about suarez hoggin the ball, sturridge will take that to the next level. Ask any Chelsea fan. If they had a dollar for every time sturridge went alone and wasted a chance when he had support from players in better positions, they'd be planning summer vacations with roman
ReplyDeleteto fsg id say sell up and f2ck off
ReplyDeleteSturridge is a terrible buy. 12mil for that twat!?!? That could have been Llorient or Ba who are both a lot better value than one of the most overrated strikers to play the game. Ask any Chelsea player. If they had a dollar for every time sturridge went alone and wasted a chance when there were players in better positions they would e planning summer vacations with abromovich! Can't believe we've made such a daft purchase and I hope someone has a serious talk with BR and whoever is advising these transfers because we're starting to look like a silly irresponsible club in the transfer market. We're no longer looking for value, we're spending for the sake of spending money on a player who couldn't even dislodge Torres when he was absolutely terrible!
ReplyDeleteI see your points and see your optimism. But this is a player that has caused most chelsea fans to go bald from pulling it all out. He's infuriating to watch as his selfishness is second to none. His Bolton stint was good but also remember he couldn't even dislodge torres when he was absolutely terrible! For me, that's not a player liverpool needs. I hope im wrong but I highly doubt that I will be

ReplyDeleteProbably because you're an idiot.
ReplyDeletespot on about the DM role .. Lucas's injury was the beginning of Daglish's woes.
ReplyDeleteI hear what you're saying but he might see this as his chance to finally show everyone his potential. Hey, maybe BR can work the same magic on him that he used on Downing to get him to score ;-)
ReplyDeleteCoates doesn`t seem to be doingt too well, but he is still very young for a CH. I would prefer to loan him out to a championship side, get him some game time under his belt, if his loan doesn`t work out, then sell him. His price wont have dropped much more.
ReplyDeleteSpot on
ReplyDeleteI think the reason he was so selfish, was because it was hard getting game time, and so felt he needed to score to stay in the team. tbh I don`t think it is his fault for not dislodging torres, No one could, Due to the price paid for Torres he was playing regardless.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, loan out Coates for a year, get him some game time. He is young and CH don`t come into there own until around the 25 age mark.
ReplyDeleteAnd a Striker and Winger in that list. Don`t take half a article to suit your dislike. Unless you think Sturridge and Ince are Goalkeepers?
ReplyDeleteI dis-agree. I reckon you could easy get 12mil for Carroll and 5mil for Downing, totaling 17mil.
ReplyDeletethe good thing about sturridge is he is still only young and theres plenty of time for his development , its a positive thing in my eyes he is selfish ,as a striker its what they teach you to be , in ian rushes autobiography , he states that it was the one thing that was said to him that he had to be more selfish in front of goal and he took that on and history shows what he became as a player ,and im not comparing sturridge with ian rush but im sure brendan rogers will look at his selfishness in front of goal and use it as an advantage because it shows a player is hungry to put the ball in the net ,rogers will teach him when and where to be selfish in the final third ,and im sure we will be seeing sturridge as the main striker with suarez playing of him , so that hunger to put the ball in the need is what we need at this time lets just hope he does it , and i totally agree with a previous comment when he was at chelsea he was trying to hard to put the ball in the net , to prove him self ahead of the other strikers chelsea had at their disposal, good luck daniel
ReplyDeleteFirst of all we don't know whether what the media publish is wrong or right. They need silly stories. Secondly, last season Raheem Sterling allegedly threatened to leave/ask for a transfer unless he gets first team football, so Ince may be not the only one. Player power is maybe too big nowadays.
ReplyDeleteMore moaning
ReplyDeletemore one liners you should be on the stage you comic genius is a loss to the world anyway merry xmas na forget it baa humbug ;-)
ReplyDeleteallen is superb.. borini can be good.. assaidii just signed.. downing has got better.. coates i dont noe id hez gonna leave or not !
ReplyDeleteyes our best display of the season and not one of them starts
ReplyDeleteyes our best display of the season and not one of them starts
ReplyDeletethe problem with carroll is hes on big wages and his position has been made more or less unattainable ...clubs know this fact and will bargain accordingly
ReplyDeleteSo you want to be bankrolled by some russian/arab who runs the club their way and doesnt listen to anything the fans say or do?
ReplyDeleteNot my idea of a great club.
FSG have only just started their tenure, at least lets see how they do after a decent length of time. Success is not created overnight. The club was in a right mess when they bought it and is now on a much firmer footing which needed to be done for the club to be viable in the long run.
To many knee jerk 'supporters' these days who want everything straight away.
Billy....Billy...chill!
ReplyDeletehyypia wasnt fast even in his prime but his affinity with the club speaks for itself. i personally think if coates came on or started in the games which carragher has, then we would see him develop more. i dont understand why carragher is still managing to rack up so many more appearanceswe gain nothing from him coming on but coates will gain valuable experience.
ReplyDeletei dont know if ive been watching a different player but sahin has been consistently good for us when hes played. he has actually surprised me the way he has got stuck in and closed down and has been much more aggressive and effective than allen.
ReplyDeleteNot really, what wages he is on now doesn`t matter, if he wants to play, he might be happy taking a pay cut, thus not reducing his price, it has happened before a lot.
ReplyDeleteto all a merry christmas and hope the red men give us all something to cheer about in the new year.
ReplyDeletehes been sussed out to slow and thats it
ReplyDeleteare you serious ??? Allen is going nowhere neither the 2 other..
ReplyDeleteyou need to understand that FSG's way of dealing is, if they give 40mil it doesnt mean it's only for buying players alone, it's inclusive of the players wages for the total number of years they are signed for. do the maths n you will see it adding up...
ReplyDeleteIn light of the Sturridge nighmare about to become true, I'm getting really anxious here. Please dear God let it not be true that our owners are allowing themselves to be dupped into overpaying for players again and in the January market as well! And what's with us signing all of these kids? Someone should tell Rodgers he's no longer managing Chelski reserves and he can actually sign players over the age of 23!
ReplyDeleteHave to say Coates needs to step up to the mark or touch. Their are plenty of centre backs playing in the prem who probably arent as talented as Coates but they give 100 percent commitment.Hearts on the sleeve stuff as for Coates he iratates the life ove me the chap doesent seem fookn interested...
ReplyDelete
