VIDEO: Liverpool FC 3-0 Wigan - Suarez double/Enrique goal...

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has rewarded Jose Enrique for his man of the match performance against Chelsea last week with a place in today's starting line-up against Wigan.

Pepe Reina also makes a return to the team, which just goes to show that Brad Jones' great form ultimately meant nothing to Rodgers; if it did, he'd still be in the team

Reina, Wisdom, Skrtel, Agger, Johnson, Sterling, Allen, Gerrard, Enrique, Suso, Suarez.

SUBS:

Jones, Sahin, Cole, Henderson, Coates, Carragher, Shelvey.

  1. Interesting, you always get one or two mistakes in the line up lets hope this time is the real one, really pleased if assaidi is starting

  2. Very attacking

I'm guessing the line up is more like this and not 3 at the back...

    Wisdom Skrtel Agger Johnson
    Allen Gerrard
    Suso
    Assalidi Suraez Sterling

If so Allen needs to do a better job this week than against Chelsea.

  3. Im really pleased if suso is part of the midfield 3 which You would have to imagine he is!!

    ReplyDelete
  4. Suso as the attacking midfielder with Allen and Gerrard behind him, very very interesting

    ReplyDelete
  5. I see goals!!!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Assaidi not even on bench told u mate your source is wrong all the time, and enrique is starting as well, im so mad man why rodgers never plays assaidi in epl hes such a talent it must be frustrating for him runing his career here we need a winger like him we have him but we dont play him how bizarre is that?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Got the team wrong jackass!!!

    ReplyDelete
  8. The real line up for today's game...

    reina

wisdom - skrtel- agger -enrique (Carrig)
    shelvy - johnson (allen)

assaidi- gerrard- sterling (suso - downing)
    suraez

this lineup would be a real threat to every team in epl

    ReplyDelete
  11. why say confirmed line up when u or a 'source' is just guessing. pathetic

    ReplyDelete
  12. I think wisdom isn't ready for [regular] first team football yet, was exposed a few times against chelsea last week.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Confirmed bullshit

    ReplyDelete
  14. Guess work followed by the truth!

Assaidi is not even in the squad!

I like you views and opinions James and often read your articles as i think your work holds a lot of credibility but guessing at the line up doesn't do you any justice!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hello

Why did you put the wrong line up, edit it later and then delete the post which mentioned that you always make a few mistakes with the line up??

Just don't post the line up until you know it Jamie. Much easier

    ReplyDelete
  16. If we don't beat Wigan today...then questions need to be asked of BRENDAN RODGERS

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yeah, I can see two goals right now. One at each end of the pitch :-)

    ReplyDelete
  18. We've actually lost the corresponding fixture last year with a few more experienced players at our disposal. Don't know if things can always be seen as clear cut as in 'if we don't beat Wigan today...then...'.

  19. Halftime Review: Liverpool Nil 0 Wigan 0

A complete and utter DISGRACE! (as per usual)

    Rodgers OUT!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Grow up!!!

We are playing a strange formation!!! Johnson and enrique both on the left? Suso injured or tactical??

    ReplyDelete
  21. Don't tell me what to do fool ill have my say whether you like it or not!, its a total DISGRACE and the reason this substandard dross is now tolerated is because of nodding donkeys like YOU!.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Let the whinging commence!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Can someone explain the Johnson / Enrique positioning? I would have played them the other way round, i.e Johnson in midfield and Enrique as defender. Enrique is a much better defender and Johnson much better going forward. It's puzzling!

    Also Suso off?

    I DONT UNDERSTAND!!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. You can't really say Jones performance meant nothing to Rodgers. In my opinion, he has to give Reina a chance to come back into the team at some point. Because Jones makes good competition for Reina, it wouldn't surprise me if Reina steps up his game either.

    ReplyDelete
  25. We'll probably have to wait for the pre-match interviews to get clarification on those things.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Reina had taken his starting spot for granted up to now.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm starting to get a real feel for the Suarez/Sterling show just quietly..........

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm writing this at the 66th minute....... My god how good has Enrique been???? I thought the exact same as you Peter and right now im wondering how good a coach and tactician our new Manager is.....

    ReplyDelete
  29. Enrique has now more goals and more assists as a left midfielder than Downing managed all season last season in the league.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Jose Enrique is playing more like David Silva today, great performance!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Deleted my original post. You're a fucking dick Jamie. Go suck a bag of old trafford dicks you fucking loser. Oooh oooh someone made a post I don't like, I'll just delete it and pretend it never happened. Scumbag fucking kraut

    ReplyDelete
  32. Enrique has been fantastic. Probably his best game in a red shirt for me. I still want to see Johnson play in midfield though.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Good competition for Reina will make him a much better player, if not then Jones will be made number 2, unless Rodgers brings in another goalie. Personally, I hope Rodgers takes advantage of Lloris situation at Tottenham and brings him in.

    ReplyDelete
  34. While I think that Lloris is a very good keeper, I am not sure that he would like to be in the same position again fighting for first team action with someone else.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Fantastic performance, all kudos to BR for showing some deciveness! Saurez is top class, well done Jose keep on working hard! The superlatives will continue to flow tonight at least.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Pleased for Enrique, more than anyone else today. Suarez, Mr consistency, stay fit please! But most of all, Sterling probably has had his best game of the season. Sterling and Suarez is a nice little combo.

    ReplyDelete
  37. decent performace against a poor side allen was woeful yet again thought henderson showed great effort today

    ReplyDelete
  38. Really happy for the team and BR, draws are turning into wins and barring the recent results we have been playing some decent football!!! Steyg.... you were saying.... I think if anyone is a disgrace is people like you who have not a clue about football. Until BR has some serious money to spend like Kenny and Rafa then he will be given time by the owners. Atleast he's bringing the best of what we have barring downing who was bought by who??? Exacty.

We cannot keep changing managers, otherwise go and support chelski!!

    YNWA...

    ReplyDelete
  39. Who reckons we should drop Saurez & play Downing. Only kidding! Stuart should be re-employed as a goal post! Little Sterling well done awareness is improving, keep working hard!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Allen maintained possesion and made vital tackles in front of the back four, stop being so antagonistic.

    ReplyDelete
  41. he was garbage gerrard had a poor game too but i can forgive gerrard cannot wait for lucas to come back then rodgers will have to drop someone for allen feel sorry for whoever it his

    ReplyDelete
  42. listen to your self 4 managers in how many years fsgs 3rd manager in 3 seasons all for you supporting rodgers but ffs why should he be different to hodgeson or king kenny

    ReplyDelete
  43. take it you were worried about today getting your excuses in early fair play we won today but allen was still woeful

    ReplyDelete
  44. and more than allen has managed this season

    ReplyDelete
  45. Right now I'm asking questions of you as a fan. A cancer on our club.

    ReplyDelete
  46. agree starting to work together nicely

    ReplyDelete
  47. Utter disgrace as a fan. STEYG OUT!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Whole team excelled to day, finally got to see jose get the tools out.We can;t complain about getting no breaks, tho past due.Stevie G ran a tight ship today.I dont know how that man does it!!Pepe not much work, but hey ..clean sheet.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Is Mali341 really a fan? You obviously have not seen what he has written in the past. i have always asked him to go and support another team as all he can do is post negativity so not sure what the point is of Mali341 supporting the club.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Where are all the Enrique haters now?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Jason. I see you still continue to moan even after a pretty good win? You have some serious issues mate.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Eat your humble pie Mali341. go support another team.

    ReplyDelete
  53. And where are all Suarez haters now? :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. we beat wigan to hear some of the posters on hear you would have thought we had won the league its not moaning its keeping it real is this how far we have fallen getting carried away by one result they were plenty of posotives today specially second half first half was dire but there were a few negotives imo allen was poor thought hendersons efforts lifted team suarez sterling and enrique were great but we had to be gifted a first goal gerrard was not at his best defence did well so if you think this is moaning like i said it was wigan we as a club should be expecting this result not cherishing it maybe i am to old and can still remember when we were the best team in the world and wigan would have come to an

    ReplyDelete
  55. agree enrique should have started more often but we do not pick the side

    ReplyDelete
  56. there about somewhere they will return rest assured lol

    ReplyDelete
  57. Commentators asked after FT in the Norwich game: 'who saw this coming?'.....I ****ing did! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  58. Jason, you will just have to give the project time. Rodgers was never going to create miracles in one season.

Like I have said before, Allen is not a defensive midfielder. IMO he is doing what is asked of him at the moment. When Lucas comes back he will be doing what Allen has and that is cover for the defence. The defensive midfielder is probably one of the most boring roles to watch in the team. Once Lucas is back you will see a different side to Allen, one which was known at Swansea. Once Lucas is back you will see the same thing we have been seeing while Allen has been sitting in for Lucas and that is cover for our defence. Simple.

Did you ever see Allen play for Swansea Jason? There he definitely was not deployed as a defensive midfielder.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Suarez should never play for Liverpool again. Like Jamie I'm sickened by how he cheats. He didn't admit to the ref that the ball touched his head before it went out for a throw in and we got the goal from that. What a cheat - that's as bad as when he handled the ball in the world cup. Yes I'm totally with Jamie on this one.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Jason, Enrique has was injured if you have not noticed?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Jason Carr damn u are such a perssimist its actually annoying. "Great win but..." come on dude support the team, enjoy the win, take the 3 points and move on to the next game really.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Coz he has not wasted over a £100m on crap and does not try to attack every media personnel in interviews!! Just for his overall poor transfer buys he paid the price.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Whats gunna happent to the 3 man midfield when Lucas is back?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Allen has had to play defensive midfielder since Lucas has been injured. Do you not understand football at all? His job is to keep the ball and frustrate the opposition not to make rampaging runs deserting his post. This is how football works. Watch it as a grown up and not an American 8 year old child.

    ReplyDelete
  65. dream on i watch football 7 days a week academey youth and upwards allen is overrated full stop

    ReplyDelete
  66. No can do. It makes him feel all special and different from everybody else.

    ReplyDelete
  67. allens stats last 2 years one in championship check them out i think you will find not a lot to look forward to and like i say who are you going to drop for him

    ReplyDelete
  68. bullsh"t rodgers tried to wipe out ever kd signing and set up his own dynasty he thinks hes shankley

    ReplyDelete
  69. american i take it go back to soccer doughnut

    ReplyDelete
  70. haha jog on, your type will never be happy win or lose.
he wears the shirt with pride and runs his guts out every game.
go slate all the other non perfect people because you obviously lead a perfect life.
where do you people come from

    ReplyDelete
  71. i remember even paisley had his bad times sometimes he came second

    ReplyDelete
  72. Jason, Enrique was injured. He has had injury problems since the end of last season. If you do not know about it then obviously you have not been following his progress since the start of the season.

Just for the record, I wanted Kenny to have another season to see if he could get things right. I see that Kenny being sacked has angered you and you still have not gotten over it. Can't say that I was happy either but happy to have Rodgers at the helm as he is a young manager, footballing brain and his style of play is pass and move to the T.

Rodgers thinks he is Shankly with no e before the y? Doubt it mate but I can bet he is trying to follow in Shankly's footsteps just like Paisley, Fagan and Kenny did and that is to play the LFC way.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Bigotry doesn't make you correct.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Well then I cannot help you any further Jason. You will have to wait and see what Allen is about as soon as he doesn't have to cover for our defence anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Allen, Lucas, Gerrard.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Typical I expected nothing else. Whats next u gonna tell me about how u go to ANFIELD every week? Season ticket holder etc? That does not make u superior to any other supporter nor does it make u a football FUNDI! Wake up! Ive been coming on to this website since 2007 and I have seen many English supporters like you. U need to get over KD "mate" his long gone and good riddance. Wasted some 100m on dross! Ohh and by the way am SOUTH AFRICAN!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Enrique was massive today, as in the second half of the chelsea game: let's hope he keeps that form, cause that "free role" of today was very interesting in him! Suarez, keep banging them in man, for every goal you make we are happier!

Jason Carr you've got nothin' else to do aside from writing in EVERY post do ya?

    ReplyDelete
  78. no you cant you live in your bubble that allen is going to be a midfield dynamo and i will carry on in the real world take it you did not check up is dire stats for goals and assists when he moves into your dream role

    ReplyDelete
  79. Let me just add also that whilst I find u repugnant I totally agree on your views on Allen. He's a waste. Sideways passer whose perfomances as of late have not been up to standard. Your views on BR on the other hand are completely Knee-Jerk his managed 12 league games and you've already called the jury out on him. Get a grip and give the "lad" more time. We are unbeaten in 6 or 7 is it? Surely if u as football savvy as u make yourself out to be on this blog you would find Rodgers progress so far acceptable but I see you dont know as much as you would like to have us believe, you just run your mouth full with negativity

    ReplyDelete
  80. not going to happen hes a fool and your getting all giddy over beating wigan well carry on you will probably be having a good season hope we can beat a decent side this season then you can really celabrate

    ReplyDelete
  81. think iamalooney was being ironic lol hope so

    ReplyDelete
  82. as the spitting image song goes ive never met a nice south african

    ReplyDelete
  83. lol i would take that personal except frankly i dont give a dam makes me think were are the censors today or dose it not count if its me one rule for one one for another glad to see your taking a interest keep up the good work

    ReplyDelete
  84. no acctually gave up going to matches years ago due to having kids and being to expensive also the loyal fans used to be rewarded in the old days if you went to watch lfc week in week out you would get a voucher that gave you first dibs on tickets for derbys man ure etc then all the money came in and its day trippers these days most fans cannot get tickets try to go a couple of times a season but most likly end up away matches at wrong end of grounds but still as vocal as many fans find them selves in simialar circumstances away days are the best days now

    ReplyDelete
  85. I agree completely i have thought for a long time johnson would be excellent on the right of midfield

    ReplyDelete
  86. You obviously watch the U8's with your tactical nous. If you can't work out that at this moment Allen's primary job is to keep possession then you're a 9 year old. When Lucas comes back that'll be the real assessment on Allen's worth. Right now as long as he keeps the ball and cuts out opposition passes he's doing his job. If you want rampaging, cross field passing midfield maestros you look at Gerrard, Sahin, Henderson and Shelvey. Of course if you have ADD then Allen isn't booting it forward all the time and that's just WRONG!

    ReplyDelete
  87. It was a welcome home win with a clean sheet which are rare these days, even though Wigan are hardly world beaters we can only beat who is front of us we did so we cant really complain, i am as happy as any fan to have got the win it was well deserved however just because we have won doesnt mean we should forget that for the first 45 mins we were erm.. lets just say not very good, Allen was average (as he is a lot lately) at best, but hopefully this second half performance will do wonders for confidence and belief as at times we looked great and Enrique was outstanding as was Sterling and Suarez (as he usually is) and hopefully in January we will get the 2 or 3 players we need to take us onto the next level as at times this season we have not looked too far away so with a few of the "right" signings i think we could really be banging on the door of the top 4 as were capable of it as long as we do get the right guys in.

    ReplyDelete
  88. No, not really. I still think that most people would agree with me that Johnson is pretty strong going forward and not the best defender. Jaimie has mentioned this on numerous occasions on this site. I also think that it is fair to say the Enrique is the better defender out of the two. Last game his defending was immense, but he was poor going forward, giving the ball away on too many occasions.

The fact that we won doesn't change the fact that I think it was a very strange decision and IMO playing them the other way round would have been the logical approach. Who knows what the score could have been.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Giz next weeks euromillions numbers Chan.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Pretty decent stuff. I thought Henderson was great. I hope BR can see that his work rate has such a positive effect on the whole team. He individually drove back Wigan and the crowd acknowledged it. He seems great for this system.

Allen and Gerrard were the two quietest players. Allen only made 5 passes in the first half. Gerrard played some nice balls but he was also quiet.

Correct decision to take off Suso because there was no balance in the midfield. Hendo did the job. Enrique was fantastic, Sterling is only improving and Suarez continues his great form.

I'm glad Sahin got dropped - but where was Assaidi??

    ReplyDelete
  91. Great to see Henderson play well also liked Enriques effort as for the rest they all did what was expected i hope to see more of it.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I still cant understand the logic behind comments from fans like you! Why the heck you keep slating our best player, huh?

    ReplyDelete
  93. Im glad we finally won...Team performance in general was good. Enrique`s final passes are excellent at times! All our midfielders should try to do like him and attempt more through passes. Suarez again to the rescue with a double and an assist. Hope people will stop slating the guy and instead start praying that he keeps his outstanding form and dont get injured or something because he is the heart of our team. Take his contribution out of the equation and we would have been bottom of the league by now.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Rodgers is a good tactician - as is Rafa(who incidentally is a brilliant tactician.)Unfortunately we could never say the same about Hodgeson! or Dalgish! Proof is in the pudding since KK left and Steve Clarke went to West Brom!

    ReplyDelete
  95. I for one thought Enrique in front of Johnson was a good move.I also think Johnson is better on the left(full back) rather than on the right.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Dalglish was always a 'crap' manager! Rodgers leaves him for dead as a manager/tactician!
    Also the name was 'SHANKLY'

    ReplyDelete
  97. The word is 'their'

    ReplyDelete
  98. get orf Allen's back. your comments are baseless. his stats are impressive thus far and will only get better.

    ReplyDelete
  99. like i have said before when lucas comes back who you going to drop for allen check is attacking stats for last two seasons one in championship not good and on the rare occasion allen has got forward he has done nothing we will see what allen becomes just imo a waste of 15million

    ReplyDelete
  100. stats mean nothing how many creative balls has he played and before you defend him saying hes playing out of position he can still get forward occasionally

    ReplyDelete
  101. and were are west brom in the league maybe we should have kept clark

    ReplyDelete
  102. thanks for pointing out my bad grammer its the most intersting post ive had of you

    ReplyDelete
  103. but there lays one of his problems rodgers has had the guts to give some players a kick up the as$ but his signings get nothing but praise you agree yourself allen as been poor fair play we will see if that changes when lucas comes back but i dont thik he will be getting dropped anytime soon regaurdless of performances

    ReplyDelete
  104. Finally! Today we played some heck of football. Especially in the second half where we completely dominated the game. The players played with passion, they showed real determination, and they were fighting like real warriors! We should also give credits to Brendan Rodgers because today he got everything right. His decision to play our Man-of-the-Match Jose Enrique as a left winger was really genius. He should keep him in that position. The team must build on this performance and win, perform in the same way in every game and give their heart and soul for this special club!

    ReplyDelete
  105. just ignore him and he will go away.

    ReplyDelete
  106. It s pointless responding to you pal. you live in a different planet.

    ReplyDelete
  107. why because your right and iam wrong its called opinons you mention allens stats i say check out is stats how many goals and assists did he have in the previous 2 seasons with swansea one season in championship not many so check them out his passing as been woeful the last two games how many tackles he won dont be lazy check them out and then tell me we spent 15 million wisely when allen has got forward what have you seen in him to make you so sure that hes going to be good in that position because like i say i have not seen a lot

    ReplyDelete
  108. been waiting all year for another player to show up besides Sterling and Suarez. Jose Enrique played a fearless game, oozing with confidence. If we attack teams like this more often we will move up the table for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  109. blah.blah..blah....Your comments are just repetitive and getting into a rant actually.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Over the last two years Johnson has been immense defensively for both Liverpool and England. Enrique's constant losing of the ball in our own third and failure to pick up runners such as Naismith suggest otherwise. Of course if you follow the catchphrase cliche arguments 'Johnson can't defend', 'zonal marking is silly', 'Allen can't pass forward' etc etc then you wouldn't understand at all.

    ReplyDelete
  111. The word is they're.

    ReplyDelete
  112. truth hurts so you did not check his stats to disprove my arguement well done

    ReplyDelete
  113. Agree, as he looks as if in need of a rest.

    ReplyDelete
  114. No. Not more worried than usual. Just find it a bit strange what Mali341 posted as there are many different ways to lose. You could get totally played of the park and beaten by five goals or you could miss five pens and concede from the one and only chance the opposition creates, just to give two examples. I would be extremely worried if we were played of the park on a regular basis, but we are not.

Agree with you about Allen though. He looks jaded for a few weeks now. Glad that Lucas is back in training as Allen may get the rest he obviously needs.

    ReplyDelete
  115. You remember that? I honestly thought you were the kid in that pic.

    ReplyDelete
  116. We have quite a few of those cancers who wish we lose in order to Rodgers getting the sack.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Steyg out? I said that last week already :-)

    ReplyDelete
  118. I think that Allen will get a few assist, too, as soon as he plays a bit further up the pitch. Don't think he is a bad player. He actually is a pretty good player.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Jason, you couldn't stop yourself from insulting me on opinions I have posted and you didn't agree with. I don't mind discussing with you at all, but if you argue 'it's called opinions' then it would be nice if mine would also be accepted, even if it doesn't correspond with yours.

    ReplyDelete
  120. So FSG should have Hodgson in place just not to change managers. Come on Jason, you can do better than that.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I, too, remember when we were beating everything put in front of us, but those days are long gone. As far as I remember correctly we didn't beat Wigan at home in the past two seasons at least. They are no push-overs.

    ReplyDelete
  122. He surely isn't an attacking midfielder. The past two years? He was 20 and 21 years old back then. What do you expect of such young lads? That they are world beaters? A bit of perspective wouldn't harm your comments at times.

    ReplyDelete
  123. I for one wouldn't want Downing to be so close to a football pitch.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Actually the word is 'they're'.

    ReplyDelete
  125. read all your 7 comments on me and do appreciate your imput so there are no hard feeling by me i hope you feel the same some people have different views life would be boring if everyone all agreed ps there, ther,re they,:re dodididoare am not that bothered cheers for the grammer check all of you i will sleep easy tonight lol

    ReplyDelete
  126. How about you stop being so condescending "... you wouldn't understand at all"

Why, because I'm not a LFC Professor like you?

I disagree with what you are saying. I think that Enrique has shown lately that he is a better defender than Johnson, and Johnson constantly shows that he is good going forward. Its fine if you disagree.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Jason, your comments are almost unreadable. Can you please use some punctuation? Cheers

    ReplyDelete
  128. Jaimie, just some constructive criticism here (steady, I'm not going to attack you). Firstly, I understand you're going for this whole critical analysis/real issue stuff but it wouldn't hurt for you to post some positive things about Liverpool's performances. There's been no mention of Enrique's and Henderson's brilliant performances as well as Suarez's - apart from two whole articles on his late (yes, late) tackle on Jones.

Secondly, saying that Rodgers couldn't care about Brad Jones is nonsensical. "Pepe Reina makes a return to the team, which goes to show that Brad Jones' great form ultimately meant nothing to Rodgers; if it did, he'd still be in the team". That is utterly ridiculous. Pepe Reina has been our first choice goalkeeper for years. You can't just ignore that because your SECOND choice has been in good form. For example, Wojciech Szczesny (thank you Google) has been injured for weeks, like Reina, but as soon as he was deemed fit, he made a return to the team. This isn't to say Mannone has been playing poorly - he's the second choice 'keeper and has to move aside when the first choice is fit.

Apart from those points, as well as others that I couldn't be bothered to type out, I quite like your site. It's refreshing to read something other than the sh*t produced by BleacherReport. I can't stand them.

P.S Jason Carr's been doing my head in. He's hardly putting up any new points to back up his opinions, just insulting anyone who doesn't agree with him.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Ah, the grammar check. Simply wanted to point out to the guy who corrected you that he's got it wrong. Funny that.

    ReplyDelete
