'I've had offers' - £15m German star admits he's 'keen' to move abroad. Pursue?

Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels has revealed he is already thinking about his next move, and with Liverpool desperate for some enduring defensive solidity, perhaps Brendan Rodgers should take a look at the German international?

In an interview with BILD on Monday, 23-year old Hummels - who has played an important role in Borussia Dortmund's rise to the summit of German football - conceded that 'now is not the right time for a move', but also made it clear that he planned to move on at some point. He said:

"I will say that I am keen on a transfer one day.

"To play football in a new country would be flattering, and in Europe there are just about four to five clubs that would really interest me.

"I have already had offers and one enquiry from these offers was really one of interest for me".

Who knows, maybe one of the 'four or five clubs' that interest Hummels could be Liverpool.

Manchester United are definitely interested in the German, and according to reports last year, Alex Ferguson considered putting in a £15m bid for the player.

With Liverpool's defensive problems seemingly getting worse, a dose of gold old German efficiency wouldn't go amiss. Hopefully, Brendan Rodgers will take note of Hummels' comments, and keep an eye on the defender over the next year.

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez came up against Hummels in an international game last year, and the German defender had Suarez in his pocket for the entire game:

  1. Your kidding yourself if you think he's refering to us as one of those top 5 clubs, sadly we're not even one of top 5 clubs in this country never mind Europe.

We are still a attractive offer though, players of obonna, erickson, villa have said if we bring players of that quality in then we can make steps towards bringing us back to the elite clubs.... How did we bring Sahin in? He could of easily gone to Germany, arsenal,Italy but no he came to us... Because he knows we are making steps towards going to are own ways.

  3. We managed to get Sahin because he's only on loan it's my bet he'll be back at Madrid next year, and as for Villa he's stated plenty of times he's not interested in playing in England, and Erickson it's well known that he prefers a move to Seria A and Obonna i don't know enough about him to comment.

  4. Can't see us spending the sort of money it would take to get him on a centre half. Not when we have Skrtel, Agger and Coates all tied to long term contracts. Don't get me wrong, this guy is top quality but I doubt we would try to sign him.

Well he looks like he enjoying his time here if he don't get first team next for real he will be on the move. And we need just need to sort proper targets out. And I'm not saying where they would move but we still appeal to players that's a good sign. And obonna is a very good defender strong aswell :)

  6. I think he's out of our league unfortunately.

  7. This guy is one of my top targets in FM. Anyway, I don't think it is possible. But if other bigger teams do not bid for him, its a possibility.

  8. If rafa was around and we were still kings of Europe, perhaps he may have joined us. As things stand, we are a mid table side and will remain so for the foreseeable future.

  10. I hopes LFC only will go fishing the name like Mamadou Sakho,Mats Hummells,Neven Subotic and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa for candidates Centre back.Yann M'Villa and Moussa Sissokho for Centre Midfield Defender.B4 we get good centreback,we must get best CDM first.Since Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano departure, nobody can fill in the duty with more effective as both this players.LFC fortress not be get respect from contenders players.Goal leaking very good from goal scoring.B4 that LFC defender having the best defender in BPL with only a little leak the goal. Now nobody will afraid to face LFC defender because they don't having best tackling players yet.Lucas Leiva not enough, because he have small physical body.Sometimes he will struggle to do very important tackle.

  11. He is a very good centre back but unless one of the current centre backs leave, I don't see him coming to a club without CL to be a rotational player or Rodgers/FSG splashing that much cash when other areas of the team need it more as well as relegating one of the existing centre backs to being rotational. The guy is good enough to be a starter at a big club with CL football and me thinks there a good few big teams in CL that could do with the quality and depth he could add.

  12. I have not seen M'Vila play this season but he has been demoted to the France u21 squad. Can't be playing that well this season. Them two young central midfielders at Lyon look good though, Fofana and Gonalons but Lyon chairman is one tough cookie to deal with it seems.

  13. Behave yaself Jamie. £15m for a CB? There is zero chance LFC are in that end of the market. That's the exact reason we are NOT one of those 4 or 5 clubs. Watch, come Jan, LFC will buy 1 striker and one winger. To do so tho, we will sell at least 3 (Downing,Hendo,Cole). Buck will take us back to where we belong but he will have to do it the hard way. Watch for the rest of the kids comin through this season and next. Coady and co are going to be filtered in instead of FSG spending big.
