Staying or going? Agent confirms 'top' £20m LFC target's future plans...

Ajax star Christian Eriksen recently admitted that was 'very cool' to be linked with 'big clubs' like Liverpool and Manchester United, and today, his Agent provided an update on the Denmark international's future.

AC Milan and Roma are also tracking the 20-year old, but Martin Schoots - Eriksen's Agent - claims the player will not leaving Holland any time soon. He told Tipsbladet:

"There are many clubs who have enquired about Christian and also tried to sign him.

"However, he has never seriously considered to change club.

"He is focused on his progress at Ajax. That is what is important at the moment."

£20m-rated Eriksen is a player with great potential, but Liverpool legend Jan Molby is not convinced he's ready to move to one of Europe's big clubs yet. He told Goal.com:

"There is a lot of hype about Christian and there is certainly a lot of potential there as well

"All the top clubs have been looking at him because he has clearly got all the ingredients to one day become a top, top player.

"But Eriksen is nowhere near being the finished article. In my opinion, I don’t think he is anywhere near ready to move to one of the elite European clubs".

Molby seems pretty emphatic about Eriksen being 'nowehere near' the finished article, so I'll take his word for it. Let's just hope he doesn't end up at Man United (!)

United have a great record over the years of picking up exciting young attacking players, and it would be sickening to see a player of Eriksen's talent ultimately end up at Old Trafford.

Liverpool missed out on another Great Dane once (Michael Laudrup); here's hoping history doesn't repeat itself.

Having said that, it doesn't look like Liverpool or Man United have a chance as Eriksen seemingly has his heart set on a different club, as he revealed in March:

"If I got an offer from Liverpool now, I believe I would reject it. If I did move, it would have to be Barcelona".

Staying at Ajax is probably the best thing Eriksen could do right now anyway; I can't see any upside to him moving to a massive club and sitting on the bench, and/or risking failure at such a young age.

  2. Honestly, I don't mean to be rude, but can Liverpool really lay claim to be one of europe's elite clubs at this present time? Not to denigrate liverpool's proud history, but really, as we stand, Liverpool are also rans at best.
I would be encouraged, if I were a Liverpool fan, by some of the young talent like suso, sterling and Allen getting a chance at 1st team level and of course you have others like Adam Morgan in the academy/ reserves. However, with clubs like united, Barca, Madrid along with the likes of psg, Chelsea and city, not forgetting inter and juve, all of whom would probably have an interest in a player like Eriksen, then I just don't see why Liverpool would be his choice over these clubs at the present time.

  3. That's what Molby claims, too.

  4. Before this lfc can able break the bank acc to sign in Luis Suarez from Ajax with 23milion.I think it is very worth to draw 20milion for sign in Christian Erikson from Ajax again. He is very youngest and speedy winger. LFC no need to chasing Theo Wallcott or Daniel Sturridge. Not good to get this british players who is very expensive and high demand salary. They are not high prolific goal scorer.Easy to injured but take long times to comes back....NO...NO.....NO.

  5. If we can keep Sahin then i don't think Liverpool need him, already have so many midfielders and Suso is similar player to Eriksen with so much more potential.

  6. 'so much more potential' - talk about nauseating sensationalism. Calm down, calm down, give him room to play without o.t.t hype.

  7. agreed .we need two strikers and a keeper .hope brad jones keeps his place . reina wants to finish his days at athletico madrid cos his old fella played in goal for then. that could happen this season with chelski recalling there keeper back to replace petr cheque no pun intended but he could be lookin one last big payday.that would open the door for reina to go back to spain . he aint goin to get any better and is rapidly goin down hill get what we can 4 him and on of the few years performences we would be lucky to get 3 million

  8. Personally I think Brad Jones is not good enough for the first team - he looks quite error-prone on a regular basis. I think if Reina leaves we need to bring one in; we could bring in Freidel in the short term (given Tottenham have 4 keepers!) while LFC look for a long term solution, but as United and Arsenal are proving, finding a long term keeper is not a quick fix.

As for Erikson, he's good, but not so good that 20M on him would change LFC's fortunes; we need a number 9. For once, we have plenty of depth on the wing.

  9. To hell with Christain Eriksen. If Man U could not get his signature why the hell will he agree to come to Liverpool. We have no champions league. The little prick will want to play at the highest level anyway. He may talk nice about us but let's not deceive ourselves he is not coming to Liverpool FC in it's current incarnation. Let's use our energies to talk about other more viable things like who to bring into our forward line up in January.
