'I want to leave!' - Unhappy £8M LFC striker target reveals PL dream. Bid...?

PSV Einhoven striker Jeremain Lens has admitted that he wants to leave the Dutch club, and reports this week indicate that Liverpool FC could be a potential destination.

In an interview with Algemeen Dagblad last week, 24-year old Lens - who has made 8 appearances for the Netherlands - revealed his unhappiness at the slow progress of his career, admitting that he'd hoped by now to have 'already played tournaments with the Dutch national team', and 'played in a foreign league'. He added:

"I play to make a transfer next summer. I will do everything for that this year.

"I prefer the English and German league as they perfectly fit with my kind of play"

Over the last month, Liverpool have been linked with a January move for the striker, and today, Kees-Ploegsma - Lens' Agent - directly addressed speculation linking him with a move to Anfield. He said:

"Juventus and Liverpool interested in Lens? I have had no type of contact with them, but I cannot know if they have spoken directly with PSV.

"Lens still has a three-year contract with PSV and I think it is not intended to leave in January, but in football anything can happen.

"At this time he is a 100 per cent a PSV player, then in June we'll see".

With four goals three assists in eiht games, £8M-rated Lens has an impressive record at International level, but his record for PSV isn't all the great:

* 30 goals/3 assists in 98 appearances.
* 1 goal every 3.2 games

Worth a bid?

  1. The defender didn't try much to stop.

  2. Not Good enough. Plays as a winger in an attacking 3 mostly anyway. Guarantee he will end up a Villa or Southampton (you get the picture).

  3. jaimie imo with the good crop of youngsters coming throught in most positions except the striker role[ i know we have a good german]think its time for fsg to spend big on a striker it as been the problem area for a while now .huntalar would be a win win choice due to the fact of the low fee involved and if he fails a good resale value but even if we singed him i would also like a good 20/30 million pound striker so we as a club can progress

  4. What everyone else has said. Consider his low record in the Dutch league and than add in the theory that some have in relation to how well players from that league should do in PL in terms of goals, you got a promising PL player(!)
