Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly considering a January move for VFB Stuttgart attacking midfielder Martin Harnik.
According to reports in Italy, Liverpool are monitoring the 25 year-old Austrian International, who has a superb goals/assists record over the last two seasons:
* Last season: 17 goals/12 assists in 38 apps.
* 2010-11: 17 goals/10 assists in 44 apps.
* 2-year total: 56 goals/assists in 82 apps
That's a formidable creative return for a midfielder, and is far, far superior to anything any LFC midfielder has achieved over the last few years.
Harnik has continued his good form into this season, with 3 goals in 6 games so far.
The Austrian's current contract ends in 2016. What do you think?

LFC eye a lot of players only they just don't buy them!
ReplyDeleteLOL
ReplyDeleteGod, please no !!!! He is talentless .... can't shoot, can't pass, can't dribble ...
ReplyDeleteHe is really bad !!!!
As I am austrian, I quite know a few things about him .... if Jakob Jantscher had played instead of him against Germany on Tuesday we would have won that game easily and no I am not joking !!
David Alaba of Bayern Munich, Marko Arnautovic of Werder Bremen or Jakob Jantscher of Red Bull Salzburg are much better than him, but I would only consider Alaba to play for Liverpool, if at all.
There is one player I would love Liverpool to sign in January and that's, Jan Klaas Huntelaar of Schalke !!!! I know he is quite old, 29 I think, but there is no denying of his finishing ability. He could be avaiable on the cheap too, as he is in his last year of contract ...
Please, let it be Huntelaar if we buy anyone at all !!
I don't watch much of Bundesliga so cannot real pass an opinion. I think if we going to continue to play BR style football, he better send scouts to Spain.
ReplyDeleteYet more newspaper trash stories.
ReplyDeletewhat do we think???.... we think unless he can be bought for less than a big mac'n fries our board will not buy him
ReplyDeleteyou hit the nail right on the head! Until mr Arab or Mr Russian come along then we can 'just keep dreaming and watching all the repeats LFC TV can throw at us'
ReplyDeleteLiverpool is a has been like a pretty lady who was fit as fcuk when she was younger and now no one gives her a second glance, Liverpool isnt even in the MILF category because after hicks and gillett were done with her we inherited anothe american all lubed up and ready to go!
If I didnt love the Club I honestly would go elsewhere!
Im going to dig out my old pickets and change 'hicks and Gillett' to 'john henry and tom warner' with a caveat 'Mr Arab and Mr Russian Please' or maybe i should start on Brenden Rogers Out?
ReplyDeleteIf anyone saw that pathetic display liverpool put on this afternoon, the very one Brenden Rogers called outstanding it just shows the level of quality brenden rogers has!!
Honestly if our reserve team were playing they would have done better! they atleast won Chelsea reserves 4-1 again another thanks to LFC TV
Rogers out by Christmas??????????????????
ReplyDeleteif we are still in the bottom quarter by christmas he is GONE!
ReplyDeleteIll eat my own boxers if we buy anyone in January. Our owners dont care about the club. Two points????# Even if we have got funds. I doubt theres going to many players wanting to join a club in a relegation battle. People appear to have forgetten how bad the latter half of last season was. It was relegation form. We dont appear to have shaken that off still. People need to wake up. We are in big trouble.
ReplyDeleteYou seem like a very sad case , fan my a--e.....
ReplyDeleteWhen you look at the youth coming thro` the ranks it gives
ReplyDeleteme great hope for the future , big money signings a thing of
the past . Deffo the way to go...
I really think if Suarez is going to finish as top scorer for us this season, we are going to rank last 5 in the league in total goals scored, which means we are going to be lower than where we were last season in the table. I thought we should bring on some young strikers like Samed Yesil and Suso since we really have nothing to lose now. Who knows, they may well follow Jonjo Shelvey and Raheem Sterling as starters.
ReplyDeleteLooks at the old Arsene Wenger did it again with his shrewd purchases. How nice if our last few managers is a tenth of what he's capable of...
I think like most people, 4get signings, until we see what exactly FSG are about. Looks like they might sell either us or the redsox, OK we dont know for a fact if they will, just like we dont know for a fact, if Lfc have an interest in whats his name above.
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to agree with your assessment of the owners. All I hear is talk of buying young players who will eventually have greater re-sale value later on. Sounds to me like they're more interested in 'wins' for the boardroom than wins on the pitch.
ReplyDeleteIf even Arnautovic, who doesn't seem to be very good, is better than him, then we surely shouldn't go anywhere near him. Does he also start as much trouble as Arnautovic? That lad seems to emulate Balotelli.
ReplyDeleteIs that really what you wish for? We have some strange fans at the moment.
ReplyDeleteThat's what you think, not what we think.
ReplyDeleteThey saved the club at the last minute show some gratitude and spent a hell of a lot last season which was wasted terribly.
ReplyDeleteRodgers needs time so at least give him some instead of spouting your doom and gloom all the time.
They will improve and you can eat your boxers when they dont get relegated.
While I agree that Rodgers is overdoing right now when it comes to praise display and effort, you are not any better as you overdo when it comes to criticism. Pathetic? Did you even mind to watch the match? We were pretty dominant and should have won.
ReplyDeleteThere is so much wrong with your comment that I don't even know where to start.
ReplyDeleteI read an article in response to the claims that FSG were looking to sell any of their sports ventures last week. The comments, too, where enlightening. It was claimed that FOX is often stirring the shit (that's where the rumour has come from) and that the price they have quoted for a possible sale of the Red Sox was a complete joke, as it would be half of what another team (Dogers?) were sold for just recently and how much better Red Sox were run (lower wages, higher income and so on). Unfortunately I can't offer you a link, but it made interesting reading.
ReplyDeleteAre you for real peanut that was a good effort with all the young guys in the team we played to win unlike Sunderland you tool watch the game closer before you judge muppet
ReplyDeleteThey did not "spend a hell of a lot" last season.
ReplyDeleteEver set foot in the city of Liverpool you kn*b?
ReplyDeleteLiverpool legend says...
ReplyDeleteAccording to reports...
Interpretation of annual accounts show..
Bedroom journalism. Shouldn't be on NewsNow.
Do we need another midfielder, "attacking" or not??
ReplyDeleteRadical plan, I know, but let's buy a strker.......
Brendan needs players that understand the way he wants his team to play. That's where the problem is because the squad he has will take time to fully understand how to play the way he wants. It's going to take a few more matches before the current squad are comfortable playing his way. It will get worse before any better. We weren't that bad against Sunderland. Created enough good chances but finishing again and hitting that damn woodwork! He does need backing in the transfer market for these technical, tactically astute players he desires.
ReplyDeleteWell liverpool exceeded my expectation by drawing with sunderland. Too bad arseanal won.
ReplyDeleteHope not. Enough of changing mangers likes socks. Want the Liverpool Fans and FSG to stick with Rodgers at least two seasons.
ReplyDeleteAnother pop at Stevie !
ReplyDeleteOn Last night match, I really miss Maxi and Kuyt. If one of them still here we would have win the game.
ReplyDeleteLOL, Liverpool are a bit saggy now...
ReplyDeleteWhere is the pop at Stevie?? I see no reference to him either by name or by rank (captain) or at all! This is about one player whose not even a Liverpool player (yet?). What a ridiculous comment.
ReplyDeleteNot kuyt but missed maxi
ReplyDeleteNow we're talikn.
ReplyDeleteAnother load of bull, as usual.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you call a lot then an outlay of 100 mill is a lot in anyones books.
ReplyDeleteWe need strikers we have enough midfielders, although we should get rid of Downing ? we could do with somebody who could create 1 assist for the team, if not score 1 goal in the prem, why doesn`t Rodgers see him ( Downing ) for what he his, an headless chicken, with no finnishing product ? Its beyond belief how he stayed at the club this season, words fail me.
ReplyDeleteIts idiots like kanwwar spreading rubbish rumours constantly that give liverpool a bad name when trying to sign players
ReplyDeleteLol
ReplyDeleteWell, talentless is a little mean, but I agree in general. Harnik has never shown any signs of talent until the back-end of last season, when he suddenly found his form. On that form he would be useful, but it'd be stupid to rely on that. Huntelaar would be a great signing, but I don't see it. Schalke is a big club, they're competing in the CL and have got a good chance to do so again next year. Alaba is way too valuable to be bought, Bayern will not sell him and I don't see him wanting to leave. (Honestly, I think Alaba may become one of the biggest players in the league)
ReplyDeleteIf we WERE to raid the Bundesliga, which I would consider very wise (lots of young talent, way less inflated), I think Mame Diouf would be worth looking at. He's currently at Hannover 96 (my hometown club), but his performances last season (injured so far in this one) suggest that he'll be on his way out sooner rather than later, since 96 can't keep a player like him. He's got minor experience playing in England, since he came from ManU. He's deadly in front of goal, useful in build-up play and decent in the air.
Meh? I said id eat them if we buy anyone in Jan. Thats a big difference.
ReplyDeleteFeel free to disect it. It is a forum after all.
ReplyDeleteAfter selling Torres and more they spent only £32M in total ! That's what I meant...
ReplyDeletei misread and thought it said marek hamsik, i was happy, then i looked again. now im sad.
ReplyDeletePS. before people laugh at me, i didnt think hamsik would be realistic anyway, but he is a good player.
That would be a waste of time.
ReplyDeleteONLY 32m?? So how much of your money were you willing to invest in the club? People need to stop thinking that FIFA 12 is just like real life and realise just how much money they are talking about.
ReplyDeleteIn short, that means you can't. Most of it is true. :)
ReplyDeleteNo, it means that I find most of it outlandish and would find a in depth analysis and answer would be a waste of time.
ReplyDeleteNsjb007 out now!!! Heard Man City and Chelsea are always open for glory hunters.
ReplyDeleteYet, instead of showing why the original post was wrong. You keep coming back attempting to get the last word in. You could have done so with the amount of words used thus far. Instead you come back telling me how wrong am i am. Without explaining why!
ReplyDeleteFair point. I think fans are a little confused though. When owners lead them up the garden path with the grandiose statements they were making back in April. Ones along the line of we can compete with the biggest teams in Europe. If they cant, why say it? It automatically creates mistrust amongst the fan base when they get found out. As has happened in recent weeks.
ReplyDeleteWrong again. I come back to comment on your replies. The number of words needed to do that is far, far less than the number of words that would be required to show all the things that are wrong, or that I find wrong, in your original post. There is so much wrong with it that I don't want to think about it anymore. I won't be able to help you, sorry.
