Confirmed: Reds target who called LFC 'a dream club' will cost €16m. Overpriced?

Torino Director Gianluca Petrachi has confirmed that Torino central defender Angelo Ogbonna could be available for sale in the January transfer window, but only for the right price.

Ogbonna has been linked with Liverpool several times over the last year, and in November 2011, he confirmed the Reds' interest:

"I am flattered by the interest from clubs. Liverpool is a dream club.

"If they are interested in me, that is awesome.

"I love the Premier League and one day I might play in that league".

Yesterday, Torino director Gianluca Petrachi was asked if the club would sell Ogbonna in January, or in the summer, and he said:

"There are observers of many foreign clubs who come just to see Ogbonna because he is a player who has great potential.

"Last year we refused €10m for him but it is clear he is worth more than €16m. Angelo has the desire to do better but I believe he should continue to grow with Torino."

Given Torino's comparatively lowly status in Serie A, I doubt they have the bargaining strength to demand a bigger fee as high as €16m, and Liverpool could probably get him much cheaper than that.

24-year-old Ogbonna was included in Italy’s Euro 2012 squad after helping Torino win promotion to Serie A. He can also play at left-back, which would be useful for putting some pressure on Jose Enrique, who doesn't really have any credible challengers for his role at present.

  1. I don't know if this boys the answer because i haven't seen the kid play but we need someone to put pressure on JOSE ENRIQUE.Saying that he hasn't even been playing due to injuries and lack of form.
The new scouts we picked up from MAN CITY will hopefully come up with a talented player nobody's heard of spending peanuts in securing his signature.

  2. jaimie come on be serious 16 million for a defender we could not come up with 6million for a forward which is a position we despertly needed cover for in the last transfer window so imo the money should be spent elsewhere

  3. They didn't wanna spend 6 million on a 29 year old with one year left on the contract... You gotta remember that FSG put in 39 million This summer with players and manager and staff coming into Liverpool.

  7. You gotta remember FSG take the gate receipts, Kit sponsorship, Standard Chartered,TV rights, Garuda Airlines, Chevrolet, Merchandise, and many many more money schemes. Why do YOU always find a way to defend FSG, I have noticed it many times.??

  8. Lol because they are backing us. If they didn't spend money at all then I would have a problem.... But they DO spend money. They've got rid of big earners this will enable us to spend more in the next transfer window

  11. PRIORITY SHOULD BE DECENT STRIKER..WHO HAS EYE FOR GOAL,RUNNING BEHIND THE DEFENDERS,HOLDING BALL WELL IN FINAL THIRD & SHOOTING ABILITY FROM OUTSIDE THE BOX so if we able to find someone like i mentioned then we should consider ATTACKING MIDFIELDER not the defender...

  12. Andre Wisdom and Sebastian Coates already and get ready to play. For what to rushing sign new defender?Priority need to strengthen at strikers areas. Play Coates and Wisdom with often and they will be tough and more succes. Coates already prove that he is not only defender but can able score the goa. His style like Sami Hyppia, ranggy, smart and brilliant defender.I suggest for a moment please let him replace for Lucas Leiva duty....holding ball. Our fortress will be tough. If you never try,how can you know about his pontential. If you want to sign, please sign versatile defender who can playing left or right or centre. But the special is dangerous and able to scoring the goal.Skrtel is good but sometimes like making silly mistake and Agger always get injured. For me Mamadou Sakho,Neven Subotic and Mats Hummell is the best candidates to chasing for.No matter if to break your acc bank.Very worth it.
