Last month, the Agent of Olympiakos striker Kevin Mirallas confirmed that several Premier League clubs were watching the prolific striker, with Liverpool reportedly among them. Mirallas - who is also wanted by Arsenal - can play up front or out wide, which would suit Brendan Rodgers plans perfectly, and the Belgian International has now revealed that Olympiakos will sanction a transfer for the comparatively small fee of 8m. A no brainer, surely?
Speaking to Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad last night, Mirallas - who recently admitted that it would be a 'dream to play for a top European club' - said:
"There is still a chance I will move to the Premier League. Only Olympiakos is in the way. They want €8 million [£6m] and not a penny less"
Mirallas grabbed an excellent 20 goals and 7 assists in 25 games for Olympiacos last season, and his contract expires in 2014.
Liverpool are currently battling to sign Real Midfielder Nuri Sahin and Barcelona's Cristian Tello, but if one or both of those deals fails, Mirallas has to be an excellent back-up option.
In my view, Rodgers should try and sign all three: two loan deals (Tello and Sahin), and 8m for Mirallas, a deal Liverpool must surely be able to afford?
If by some miracle these three players could be acquired, Liverpool's attacking options would suddenly look massively exciting.

I dont know a great deal about this player but them stats dont look to bad at all! 8 million is easy affordable as well especially going of what Liverpool have spent in the past. I read today that Everton are interested in this player so i say get him signed!! ha. Jelavic was a player who Liverpool basically rejected and he turned out a good signing for Everton so lets not make the same mistake again. still think Liverpool need a winger and my ideal choice would be Walcott but if RVP goes i just cant see it happening
ReplyDeleteSurely we would be better looking at someone who has prem experience and wont take 6 months to settle in, some one like Walcott or Dempsey.
ReplyDeleteAll I could think when I saw this post was 'I'm Free!!!'
ReplyDeleteAnyway, he seems a decent player, nothing special.
We will not go for this guy but I suspect Everton will and he will turn out to be an absolute gem!
ReplyDeletei think we should sign mickey owen back on a free on a pay as you play contract, proven goal scorer and would not cost anything in a fee.
ReplyDeleteHe looks good, would be ideal to the Reds Revolution. He has the pace, ball panache and great movement. Given he comes he would have an explosive partnership up-front.
ReplyDeleteno way mate not now he's played for united!!!! he's been tarnished now! i wouldnt want him if he played for free. ok he went madrid then Newcastle we can all live with that but not united ha
ReplyDeletei think we would need someone like sturridge, and rumors said he could be aviable, why dont we think about him, if we could get tello it would be perfect btw !
ReplyDeleteWe've gone for prem experience in the past two season in the form of Downing, Henderson, Adam and Carroll (only 1/2 of a season) only Enrique has really paid off so far.
ReplyDeleteWhy not go out on a limb and try and sign some foreign talent, some flair players that we are sorely lacking.
Outside of Greece which is hardly a premier European league what has he done? More info please
ReplyDeleteterrible video "nobody" flashing like an epileptic fit inducer... and then there's the music! How do these video editors sleep at night?
ReplyDeletenice finisher though...
Thats a fair comment luke but surely if we were going for foreign talent players like Lewandowski or Leandro Damiao would be a fantastic shout.
ReplyDeleteHe going to everton. Let him go :-) he only had one decent season in Greece other places he gone he didn't hit it off.
ReplyDeleteWhy do people insist on regurgitating these same old lines, in spite of all of the contrary evidence? - the league a player arrives from has nothing to do with how he acclimatises at a new club; it is all just based on that particular individual.
ReplyDeleteSuarez hit the ground running at LFC, as did Torres. Carroll on the contrary took well over a 12 months, while Downing and Henderson are still "adapting".
Yaya Toure, Mata, Silva, Jelavic, Cisse, Vorm, Krul, Aguero, Demba Ba, Cabaye etc - there are countless examples of players that have arrived with any Premier League experience and made massive impacts at their clubs from day one.
There are also countless examples of Premier League players that have moved and flopped at their new club. Unfortunately we are prime evidence of this flawed policy right now.
Funnily enough I was just suggesting we pick him up (along with Quaresma) over the last few days, as a better option than just getting Ramirez for the same price.
ReplyDeleteI admit to never having watched Mirallas play for 90 minutes even once, so am buying into other people's hypes and Youtube this time. But I am desperate for Liverpool to have some pace and flair in the team, which he clearly has in abundance and I'd be willing to take the risk on that rather than play it safe with another "proven" mediocre alternative.
Why has that person put all the stupid text and grpahics on that video, it looks stupid! But the player in question looks decent. Also looks like he likes to play on the left and drift in, could be useful!
ReplyDeletepaul ince!
ReplyDeletehaha oh yeh. well thats even more evidence of why we shouldnt be making the same mistake again!!
ReplyDeletepay as you score perhaps.. ha.
ReplyDeleteOr Downing, Adam, Carroll or Henderson.
ReplyDeleteSturridge wants to play centrally. It's one of his gripes about his situation at Chelsea.
ReplyDeleteThis player is interesting indeed
ReplyDeleteHmmm. What about Torres and Suarez, compared to Henderson and Downing. Premier league experience has nothing to do with it. If you are shite, you are shite.
ReplyDeleteOh yea...I totally see Lewandowski leaving the "Champions league qualified" Bundesliga winners and joining LFC to wait for an year or two to play at the highest level in Europe!
ReplyDeleteHe is at Goodison today, and I presume its not to clean the empty glass case and blue carpet in their trophy room.
ReplyDeleteWalcott yes, Dempsey no ! ! Fulham wants too much for Demspey and he is much older, Liverpool is not competing for titles anyway so better to have younger player, after he settles he could be great addition to the team.
ReplyDeleteWe have seen Adam and how bad it turned out to be, not to mention Downing's, Carroll's and Henderson's first seasons in Liverpool were bad despite PL experience, yet Luis Suarez fit right in and his transfer fee turned out to be real bargain.
ha ha . He is not there to be their water boy or boot boy either.
ReplyDeleteWasn't Mirallas the player who pushed Cahill into Hart in the friendly just before the Euro's?? From what I can remember he looked like a decent player in that match and made a bit of a handful of himself.
ReplyDeleteIf it's true and the price is fairly low then why not go for him?
As for adapting to a new country and league, well, that's not just down to the player. The people around him (predominately I'm talking about the club now) must have to take a large part of the responsibility for that
Hahaha so true mate. Some fans really need to stop playing fifa or football manager.
ReplyDeleteGet a grip guys. Open your eyes but still support the team. I know it might suck opening your eyes but still try it
LoLz. Hahahahaa that made my day
ReplyDeleteFootball is a simple game of pass & move, its the same the world over & if a player is good & has an eye for goal then he will score goals its as simple as that.
ReplyDeleteHe is currently having a medical at everton so thats the end of that one
ReplyDeleteWhy do ppl always go on about video games whenever somebody shoots off about unrealistic transfer rumours??
ReplyDeleteThe last time that I played FM, Liverpool had a pittance in the transfer budget and couldn't immediately afford the most prestigious players either, just as in real life!
(fwiw I believe that there are better players around available for much less money than would be needed to bring in Damaio or Lewandowski)
It's not too late until a player has signed on the dotted line. It's doubtful that Liverpool are interested though anyway - why bother picking up an exciting but "unproven" player from a lesser league, when you can pick up a player that has proven themselves to be half decent in England for double the price...
ReplyDeleteLiverpool will have majorly missed out on a great talent if he signs for Everton! He is what Liverpool needs with the new Rogers system - a winger who's got plenty of pace, skill and who can cut in and stretch the opposition + most importantly consistently hit the back of the net!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't worry too much as if the rumor's are true then he wont see any of the ball at Everton if Charlie Adam crosses the park, I played against a few of the greek and cypriot teams whilst I was in the Army and to be honest if we beat them they cant have been that special
ReplyDeleteHe's coming to Everton :)
ReplyDeletehoping lfc hijack mirallas move to everton.he wl be a top signing fr reds
ReplyDelete
