Come and get me! Exciting €22m LFC target admits he 'may' leave France. Bid?

Toulouse star Moussa Sissoko has been linked with Liverpool several times over the last year, and last night, the energetic midfielder admitted that he's seriously thinking about leaving France this summer.

In an interview with French newspaper L'Equipe, Sissoko - who is also reportedly a target for Tottenham Hotspur - said:

"It may be that I leave. We know the reputation of Toulouse, the president has always said that if a player has the opportunity to move forward [with his career], he will not close the door."

€22m-rated Sissoko confirmed Liverpool interest in May when he told Reporters:

"I've had contact with English clubs, notably Liverpool, but I preferred to commit myself to Toulouse, the club where I have been educated, to get more experience"

More recently, Sissoko's representative, Bakary Sanogo revealed that he'd received 'interesting offers' for the player from 'Spain, Germany and England'

Liverpool need a top quality, strong, athletic central midfielder, and Sissoko seems to fit the bill:

* At the age of 22, he fits Liverpool's 'buy 'em young' transfer policy.

* He plays for a club that's not in the Champions League, which should make him a realistic target.

* Liverpool lack real height, strength and athleticism in midfield.

* Lucas will need time to bed into the team again, and another season with the likes of Spearing, Henderson and Adam as back-up doesn't sound appealing.

Additionally, with Sissoko out of contract next summer, there's potential to snap him up for much less than €22m. Worth a bid?

Seems very good! Better than adam an spearing anyway so defo should put in a bid if we have any funds left over :)

  2. I personally would prefer to get Gaston Ramirez, he would cost about the same as Sissoko, but is more creative than moussa. Just another agent trying too sell his player.

  3. Jamie, the FSG preferred transfer policy and practice of choice is to buy "'em young" yes but at a value where the player can be sold at a significant profit.  £17m or thereabouts isn't exactly buying low.  However, he would be a great purchase.  Wanayama from Celtic seems a better fit for the time being.

  4. they should have got marvin martin before he went to lille for way less than is reported for sissoko. lille also signed reported target dmitri payet last year while we bought downing. look how that turned out. i wouldnt fork out more than maybe 12-15 million for sissoko in any case.

  5. I spent the last few years hoping that we'd sign Sissoko (or indeed M'vila before all the hype built up around him), but watching him last season it seems that he's moved to become a more attacking midfielder now. And not a great one at that. As such, my interest moved towards his teammate, Etienne Capoue.

And I doubt either of them would cost us much more than £10m, much less £20m!

  6. we don't have the money, plus he aint priority if we did. Ramirez/Adam Johnson

  7. Good player but haven't we got enough midfielders at the mo,unless we have a clear out.Plus the price is a bit to steep IMO.Would prefer to spend the money on Joe Allen.

  9. we have more depth in midfield with cole and aqualani coming back and shelvy before all the ones you mentioned

  10. More recycled crap. Leave it out. The only reason any stories of your make the light of day is the constant misleading headlines.

  11. i agree, johnson and ramirez should be signed 1st but we still need more players, kuyt n maxi gone, bellers, big andy, adam , and downing looking likely to be gone. i'd sell spearing aswell, we have aquaman n cole back, sterling on the verge of his break through to 1st team fulltime, lucas back and stevie fully fit for the startof the season, with 2 maybe 3 quality signings our squad will look pretty impressive  YNWA  JFT96

Forget it.  We are now doing what we should have done last season, bring in 5-6 20-22 year old's at roughly 10Mil a piece.  It's a philosophy I'm happy with. Our previous management disrupted the Moneyball and gambled big time on 'tried and tested' who turned out not to bring the chemistry the side was looking for.

Again, I'm more than happy for us to build a team at a reasonable workable price.

  14. It doesn't matter who's available as i think the owners have put the cheque books away. Unless a player is sold or a bargain pops up, I doubt anyone else will come in. I'm sure Brendon has a few players in mind to go for but obviously is being held back.

  15. the short film clips on here are not a very good advert, he looks less than average, crap in fact, i get nervous when a player shout "come get me"

  16. Cant for the life of me see 22 million in this player, joke valuation!

  17. is he better than momo sisoko?

    I think we should bargain him,maybe18 million +loaning spearing(lol)
but i still think wanyamA or ki sung yueng from celtic worth more.
rmembr, sissoko's.in a middle club and a middle league too

  19. Have to agree with your point; totally at peace with current modus operandi. Buy young and 'cheap' if any of us mere mortals can consider £10 squill ion cheap that is!

But yes buy at that price because it means they are still relatively under the radar. BR can then mould them into the technical players that are so highly valued around Europe.

I'm certainly not saying that we should become a selling club, I'm saying that as our asset value increases our buying power also increases and when that system works you can sell the odd player here and there and still have brilliant younger players coming through or identified as again the next big thing; it's a formula, as such, when you get it right and can identify the correct characteristics and parameters.

Hence as Redz says earlier, I would also much rather have perhaps Joe Allen at £10 million than this chap at £15-£20, this just means that this guy has to hit mercurial level in his position to recoup anything on him, again I'm not saying we should go in with a view to sell but it should always be a consideration.

Also for anyone thinking BR cannot buy from Swansea, there is nothing that you or I are really privy to, to do with this, however, I would say this; if Brandon Rodgers is LFC manager then I believe that he will now make that his priority, also when hard cash is involved for some obscure reason receiving pockets become loose and ears become open, I'm sure any agreement was a way of saying 'you can't have them cheap, make it something we can't refuse'

Money = knickers coming off (in most cases, especially concerning football!)

  20. Yes, but he's a different type of player. He's not a DM, he's more along the lines of Yaya Toure style wise.

    ReplyDelete
  21. 22mil euro is steep but he will be worth that much in a couple of years. Far better value than 16mil GBP for Henderson, 20 GBP for Downing or 35mil GBP for a donkey.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Wanyama will defo be an option but I would point out that a player on his last year would be relatively cheap as a club could sell him to get something back, but the boy does not seem as a defensive-mid to me but more of the opposite, thats where Wanyama come in

  23. The lad has been hyped-up he is not that good believe me

    ReplyDelete
  24. My point Jay, M'vila would be a better option we need another 'Monster Masch' to help protect the back, Sissiko looks more attacking than defensive, not an option for me with JCole, Aquaman [just cant wait] Gerro, Suso we do not need him and pple like the hyped-up Joe Allen. Mvila impressed me with his play for France, a much more attentive player who is able to break play, start an attack and pitch in with an assist or goal.  Good comment mate

    ReplyDelete
  25. We need no more Redz, we a defensive-mid player thats my point, remember how we struggled without Lucas?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Good point fellow-RED not only the previous but the one before as well, Suso, Sterling now deserve their chance, try Morgan for instance from what I have seen of him the lad is brilliant, why the hell do we have an academy for if we do not promote but buy over-rated, expensive and flops for, time to change, hope BR changes.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I agree with both of you

    ReplyDelete
  28. As a new manager he has to consider what the previous regime or our scouts have recommended first, not his sole choice as he has to to do what should be done for the best of the club.  The committee he works with includes the senior continental scout, who have already identified targets that he knew nothing about.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The lad has been converted from def-mid to attacking-mid, opposite of Lucas, he strives now becoz of that change like our Lucas, do we need him? I say NO, we have enough, we need M'Vila, Jodie Clasie type of player.  However like Yaya he can be shifted to the desirable position.

    ReplyDelete
  30. completely different types of players. sissoko is the best DM in the french league, his stats are consistently the best, hence why he was a target under DC/KD. id take this guy over a lot of the players we've been linked with. if we had him, we'd have no use for adam, henderson or my precious spearing aka gollum.
this guy would fit perfectly in 1 of the deep lying positions. if we have any sense we'll sell any of the above to facilitate MS's purchase.

    ReplyDelete
  31. yeah but this guy is immence, he's got the potential to be as good as viera.

    ReplyDelete
  32. allen would be a good fit for 10m, again, way  better than henderson, adam and spearing.

    ReplyDelete
  33. agreed as he's free and better than most of our mf's but he has a dodgy heart apparently.

    ReplyDelete
  34. All I can think is that we packed the midfield signings in last year and where did it get us? A woeful attack option. Do we really have to pack in more and more midfielders and simply hope that one additional attacker will solve everything? We need to shore up the attack and really plan for having an option B , even option C for next season.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Sissoko would be a good signing but 22m price tag is ridiculous and besides his position is not a pressing concern for Liverpool. Firstly Liverpool need to buy few more attacking players.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I have my doubts on this as if it is true and we are after Dempsey I really cannot believe that the "backroom" have identified him as being needed? He is being directed by FSG instructions to keep the buying low and under what we save in sales and wage-savings only.

Judge by this yr project seem like BR only interested in those he really well known...cant deny possibility with those point JK mention...but i would said b4 add any MIDFIELD we need seriously let go some....once again "loan out" philosophy from BR might work on both JS and JH

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think the big buy days are over for us, Brendan will be scuttling around for bargains, look at Dempsey, he's an o.k. player, but a sign that there's to be no more star signings at Anfield, just o.k. players, plus the moneyball will have gone out of the window too. Our biggest money imo should go on another Mascherano to protect the back four. YNWA.

hate to said but got a feeling IF suarez didnt pen down news deal we might face again LAST MIN TRANSFER REQUEST...

  40. Brenden Rodgers will be looking for attacking creative players, not defensive mids, I know thier totaly different types of players, but we will have Henderson who will be used by BR this coming year, in the roll he was best in when he played for his fomer team "Sunderland" I dont feel Dalglish played him to his srenghths, with Henderson, Downing, Adam, Spearing, Aquilani and Cole I can see BR needs to offload at least 2 maybe 3 out of the above players, i just hope Aquilani, is at his best, and wants to play for our great team. Dont forget J.J,Shelveys just signed a new contract and Sterling and Suso our knocking at the first teams door, so who knows who`s Going or Staying? and thiers talk of Dempsey Coming in, will he be the next Striker / attacking mid, so until we get all the squad back for the preseason games and training, we won`t know. RedMan4Life.

  41. what we need is a defender ALM ARM and one more striker

    ReplyDelete
  42. them days gone

    ReplyDelete
  43. 22mil  maybe 10mil big solid boy i think every lfc fan ant gaston but we wont get sissoko or gaston. i think sissoko is very direct his size maybe defensive mid cause i really dont know how creative he is gaston better

    ReplyDelete
  44. For a DM, the video mainly shows him running with the ball...how does that fit into BR's "scousetika-taka" philosophy?

He may have been linked under DC/KD....probably another agent giving DC "kick-backs" for approving highly inflated transfer fees....

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm hung like a donkey....does that make me worth 35m....lol

    ReplyDelete
  46. i think he will be a good asset to any team.  People are saying that he would not be a good fit for Brendan Rodger's style of football. I don't think Rodgers would have a serious problem with a player who has a real physical presence in midfield , especially one that can win you possession and break up the oppositions attacking movements. I don't care what formation any team wants to play having a player with a huge physical presence is always a good thing. He gives Rodgers an option to be flexible and to experiment with other formations in the future. I think a real bull in the midfield will help more than hurt the club. He is just like PSG's Mohammed Sissoko who once played for us but without the silly fouling. Love to see this happen

    ReplyDelete
  47. We need a defensive midfielder as a priority. Do you not remember what happened when Lucas got injured?! Playing Spearing out of position as a makeshift defensive midfielder next season is not an option. Not one of the players you mentioned is a defensive midfielder! Most squads have three, we have one. Enough said.

    ReplyDelete
  48. My point is that I'd wanted either of M'vila or Sissoko previously, but M'vila's reputation has built to such a point that it wouldn't be worth the money necessary to buy him anymore and that as I said, Sissoko has transitioned to a more attacking role now.

Capoue plays the same holding role as M'vila, but is bigger, stronger and more versatile, without commanding the hype (and expense) that now comes with M'vila, thereby making him a very better target for us imo.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Barcelona have players running with the ball all the time.
In fact players committing defenders and carrying the ball forwards to create space is one of the most important facets in their attack

    ReplyDelete
  50. Liverpool's attack fell apart once we started shifting players around to cover the absence of Lucas last year.

All facets of the team have to function hand in hand, rather than operating independently of each other. And if we go into another season depending on Spearing as a key member of the squad again, my expectations for the season shall drop dramatically.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I think he was more effective when he played primarily as a defensive midfielder, instead of taking on a more attacking role. The stats will probably suggest that he's contributing more because of goals and assists counting for more than anything, but Sissoko looked more dominant in the games I saw him where he was just responsible for getting stuck in rather than driving the team forwards also...
