Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has returned to Brazil to continue his recovery and rehabilitation from the knee ligament injury that kept him out of the last six months of the club's season.
The Brazilian received permission from Liverpool to continue his recovery at home and arrived back in his home country on Wednesday, accompanied by one of the club's physiotherapists. Lucas tweeted:
"The club allowed me to continue treatment in Brazil.
"It will be good to have the opportunity to be a little closer to my family and friends.
"Looking forward to keep my rehab going here in Brazil. Nice to be with the family"
Lucas's old club Gremio have allowed him to use their training facilities, and hopefully, being in the sun, surrounded by friends and family will aid his recovery.
Lucas also took to Twitter to pay tribute to Kenny Dalglish:
"I would like to thanks King kenny for everything he is done for me during his time as a manager".
I wonder what Lucas is thinking right now. Liverpool undoubtedly missed over the last six months but there's no guarantee that the new manager - whoever he is - sees the Brazilian as the long term solution in central midfield.

Well he will have to prove himself worthy for the place just to keep him improving.
ReplyDeleteEvery player at the club, I suspect, is going to have to do the same.
ReplyDeleteDo we want Martinez who has never managed a big club.? Bring back Rafa
ReplyDeleteRoy Hodgston fucked Jamie's mom and that is how Jamie was born. His mom cheated on Mr. Kanwar and used to suck Roy's Dick.
ReplyDeleteThis is why Jamie cannot bear people criticizing Roy.. May be his mom should have fucked Rafa too!
No Martinez, no Brendan. WE need Rafa, AVB or Klopp!
ReplyDeleteJamie's mom sukked Roy's dik!
ReplyDeleteShe cheated on Mr. Kanwar
ReplyDeleteThat is why Jamie does not like ppl criticizing his Dad, Roy!
ReplyDeleteDude, your name should be Jamie Hodgston not Jamie Kanwar!
ReplyDeleteShe should have sukked Rafa's dikk too... Then he would have been Tormentor in chief of ANTI rafa cult!
ReplyDeletei meant pro rafa cult!
ReplyDeleteI agree bring back Rafa, with Carra now on the verge of extinction and Stevie G great but waining, the rest of the dressing room would be onside to him returning,Reina back to his best,Enrique would excel at his tactics,Skrtl&Agger where his preferred partnership,Kuyt and Maxi ready to play there part and of course the two maybe three signings we need to succeed!!! Sounds good to me,anyone else agree? YNWA
ReplyDeleteHe's the best defensive midfielder on at the club by a margin, so if fit, I don't think he has any worries about being in any new managers mind. Any word on how far away from fitness he is?
ReplyDeleteLucas' character and strength is unquestionable. He will fight for his place in the team.
ReplyDeleteLucas is awesome, as i have been claiming for years. The reason Kenny lost his job is because Lucas got injured, results got progressively the longer we played without Lucas. The guy has had to fight for every chance he has gotten and will continue to do so. Wow what foresight Rafa had to bring this guy in!
ReplyDeleteprogressively worse*
ReplyDeleteIt's time to move forward and get fresh blood in. There's no doubt Rafas a good manager but when he went it was time for a change, just look what he did at inter turned a treble wining side in to relegation candidates!!We finished 7 in his last season with after finishing second to united which I blame on Rafas tinkering he had his chance give somebody new a go!The owners need to be thorough in the selection process and give it to somebody young with ambition then back him all the way in transfer market because it's easy to see we need 3-4 players, striker 2, midfielders and a defender and hopefully he gets rid of the under achievers Adam, spearing, maxi because it plain to see that adam and spearing ain't good enough and maxis in and out of the side and it's probably time to move him on and generate the funds if needed???
ReplyDeleteone man doesnt make a team, Lucas was the worst player ever with most of you a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteyes and let him ruin the club again like he did in the end
ReplyDeleteNo he didn't.
ReplyDeleteNot with people who went to the match. I only ever heard him get stick once and that was after an absolute shocker. People who listen to phone ins, read the Daily Mail etc and watch too much Sky were on his case.
ReplyDeleteRafa did not ruin the club; previous owners did. Rafa just cared too much and got caught up in the problem. With the right backing he would make us a force again.
ReplyDeletei was at the Everton game when he got sent off, the names the Liverpool fans were calling him and the blame he got for the defeat was awful that day.
ReplyDeleteYou have a short memory... he got booed by the home fans at Anfield when he was preparing to come on as a substitute.
ReplyDeleteJust hope Lucas comes back as good as he was before, no doubt in my mind that our performances dropped off after Lucas got injured. Regarding the managers job, hopefully someone will be brought in soon because whoever he is will have to assess the squad, highlight the weaknesses and then identify potential players to bring in. With the transfer window opening soon we dont want to get left behind. The more I think about it, the more I want Klopp to be given the job. He's done really well at Dortmund and not spent loads. Beating Bayern 5.2 in the cup final last week was very impressive considering the team Bayern have now.
ReplyDeleteif only things were so perfect, Enrique cannot do the basic thing a left back should do and that is defend, as the Chelsea goal in the FA Cup Final proved. Skrtel is looking to move, Kuyt has seen his better days, Maxi is and always be a bit part player with a habit of being in the right place at the right time, his overall game is not impressive.
ReplyDeleteAny news when he Lucas due to start training again Jaimie ?
ReplyDeleteWith Lucas, Liverpool managed to get 61.1% of the points, which would have led them to end the season at 70pts, good enough to be tied for 3rd.
ReplyDeleteWithout Lucas, Liverpool got just 43.6% of the points, which is why they finished 8th with just 52 points.
How anyone can consider getting rid of Lucas, with such clear evidence of his impact on the team's fortunes, is beyond me.
