Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp recently suggested that Liverpool target Shinji Kagawa could be on the way out of the club this summer, and if the star midfielder's bridge-burning comments this week are anything to go by, his exit seems all but guaranteed.
Liverpool have been linked with the goalscoring midfielder many times over the last year, and Dortmund's Sporting Director Michael Zorc told Bild last week that the 23-year-old is 'flirting with clubs in England and Spain'.
Kagawa is showing all the signs of a player who has made up his mind about leaving, and his public criticism this week of team-mate Robert Lewandowski just underlines that. In an ill-advised attack, the Japanese star accused the striker of being selfish:
"Lewandowski's game is not based on interaction with the others, but only to himself at the opposing goal to score. He doesn't cooperate with other team members. He never notices better positioned players on the pitch, so I get no passes from him. But it cannot be helped. He is precisely this kind of player"
If Kagawa wanted to stay at Dortmund, I sincerely doubt he would be burning bridges like this. Hopefully, Liverpool are watching, and can see that the midfielder is angling for a move. Speaking to Kicker earlier in the week, Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp also seemed resigned to the possibility of losing Kagawa:
"If Shinji leaves, life goes on. After all, it's not like we had planned on playing an identical line-up for the next 25 years."
The €15m-rated attacking midfielder - dubiously dubbed the 'Asian Messi' by some - has grabbed 16 goals and 7 assists for Dortmund this season, improving on his tally of 12 goals last season.
Kagawa is definitely within Liverpool's price range, and he's proved over the last couple of years that he's a reliable creative midfielder. Worth a bid? Would he come to Anfield?

Seems way better than the average players currently in our midfield...
ReplyDeletei dont think he will be worth it. another expensive flop like carrol, aquilani, downing, henderson, suarez
ReplyDeletedefinitely not worth spending any money on him when he have lucas and adam in midfield.
save up for a new keeper!
I hope we buy Ramirez from the Italian league. He looks the best of all the attacking players Liverpool were linked too, and we already know he'd link-up great with Suarez. I have a feeling Kenny will probably go for a more hard working type of midfielder or winger though.
ReplyDeleteSteven Barker WTF you blind .........................if Suarez is a flop id like to hear your takes on the rest of the team...........youre a right laugh.
ReplyDeletelfc have the weakest midfield in living memory
ReplyDeleteThis fella is a very talented midfielder with more potential than any midfielder brought in last summer. Trust me this fella be a great addition, Especially as were struggling for goal's and here you dont get called the Asian Messi if your as bad as some of our current squad...Sign him up on the cheap. I reckon if he were from a top footballing country eg:Argintina we could pay 30 million for him.Deffo Worth a gamble!!!!
ReplyDeleteSteven Barker get a grip fukn Adam..???
yeah sure
ReplyDeleteToo bad he is quite injury prone
ReplyDeleteGivemefootball are reporting that he is close to joining the unmentionables....so don't get ur hopes up...!
ReplyDeleteIs u a manc?
ReplyDeleteHe is a brillinat player but is quoted as saying he wants to play for utd so not sure how he views LFC
ReplyDeletehell good player and very cheap compared to what we played for what we have now. Lets get this samurai right away
ReplyDeletei doubt he could match the standards of class players like charlie adam
ReplyDeleteadam?????????????? the shitti*st player in the premier lge!!!!! get rid NOW!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteirony...........please tell me that was irony????????
ReplyDelete!yes it was
ReplyDeletei know charlie adam is crap
i dunno if you guys appreciate what adam brings to a team, which is real stability and assurance on the ball. you should notice that since he has been injured we have lost considerably more games. we need him back to sure everything up, despite not being the most mobile of players he definitely gives us added bite and steel in the middle of the park. he reminds me of a mix between gattuso and pirlo. great player
ReplyDeleteyou dont know what you are talking about. clearly not a proper football fan. ever team needs a player like charlie adam to proved positional security and he has the tactical know how and ball playing skills to be a great asset when settled
ReplyDeletesuarez is a flop because he was signed to score goals and he hasnt scored enough. statistics prove my point. the amount of shots he has had relative to goal scores is weak, as are his assists.
ReplyDeletehe is a good player but there is no disguising the fact that he was signed as a goal scorer to replace the 20-30 goal a season striker we let go (he who shall not be named) and he hasn't lived up to the expectations.
if we had signed him as a creative force, who chipped in with goals, assists and general play then i wouldnt feel the way i do, but because he was signed to score goals, and he hasnt really, then i think he is a flop
Adam is just a championship player, he tackles like an ice hockey player barging into the side of opponents. His positionally sense is non existant and his passing too slow and erratic. He is just not athletic enough to be the playmaker at Liverpool.
ReplyDeleteHis was a totally unnecessary signing and it was negligent by the management to let go Meireles and Aquilani. He is lucky he's injured because only that is stopping him from being first out the door.
adam is a slow one dimensional footballer who gives the ball away too often. Kagawa is not what we require. may as well keep aquilana he is the same sort of player and to be fair not once anywhere other than this website have i seen lfc linked with him
ReplyDeleteVery good player. Likes to play in the hole behind the striker but can play wide. He is not a winger, very much a goalscoring attacking midfielder (he can create but he is not what one would call the main playmaker of a team). So he might suffer from Gerrard-itis (i.e., game limited due to the presence and tactical use of Gerrard in the team).
ReplyDeleteHe won't be that expensive as his contract runs out next year but we are handicapped as we can't offer CL football. Me thinks it will be out of the sides who qualify for CL, whoever doesn't get Hazard, will most likely get Kagawa. Money is on Manure to get Kagawa.
Totally agree SB, but I would say a mix between Messi and Maradona but way,way better.
ReplyDeleteKagawa seems useful alright and I wouldn't mind seeing him at United, we definitely need new midfielders (maybe the Glazers will give Fergsuon some money to buy).
ReplyDeleteI reckon that Liverpool need a major overhaul midfield and upfront, get rid of Carroll, Suarez (too much trouble with not enough end product unless you're playing Norwich who are already on their mid-season break), Johnson (can NOT defend), Downing, Kuyt, Carragher and Adams. Also phase out Gerrard (Ferguson once described Ince as a 'big time charlie', the same description fits Stevie Me). How about the following:
Reina
Kelly
Enrique
Skrtel
Agger
Lucas
Ben Arfa - £25m + Carroll
Kagawa - £12m (i.e. about €15m)
Ba - £7m
Dempsey - £10m
Pienaar - £5m + Downing
(Get £25m for Suarez and £5m for Johnson. Ba and Ben Arfa might make a move if Newcastle miss out on champions league, but Ben Arfa would cost plenty - shame about the £35m plonked down on big Andy. Anyway total outlay would be £59m subtracting £30m for Suarez and Johnson giving a 'net spend' of £29m, a lot but not crazy i.e. £6m less than for just Andy Carroll).
You wouldn't win the league but you should be pushing for top 4 with that lot. You might need a new manager though - apparently Rafa's available.
Signing a three year deal with Man U apparently.
ReplyDeleteSuarez was not signed to replace Torres, he was signed to play alongside Torres! We need a goal scorer but to say Suarez is a flop is ridiculous
ReplyDeleteyeah thats my thoughts exactly... another ''hard working'' midfielder with no creativity or flare :(
ReplyDeletei dont think he enjoys watching flare football as his signings have been everything but attractive to watch: downing, adam, henderson, and carroll.....
REALLLYYYYYYYY hoping for a top class creative midfielder this summer..... and not another donkey :(
yeap...whenever gerrard is not around... he can carry the team around. even thou he is slow, reckless in tackle but he still have a great leadership on him
ReplyDeleteYou have to be joking, and blind. Like Messi and Maradona? As for StevenBarker, bet that you have a poster of Adam's in your room.
ReplyDeleteWhen settled? When is that going to happen? Two or three years from now? You hate Suarez, who just came to the Premier League, but you think that Adam's just need time to get used to the Premier League. That's nuts.
ReplyDeletethank you, now only if StevenBarker would wake up to reality.
ReplyDeleteCaroll would be here for a long time. FSG will urge the manager to bring a midfielder who can gel with him well.
ReplyDeletePart of Liverpool's problems is that they have lacked creativity in midfield. Kagawa can bring that to Liverpool for a reasonable price. People have their doubts about his size but Germany is a very physical league and he has still been adaptable to produce the same results. In fact Liverpool are lucky to even be in the game for Kagawa. Dortmund bought him at a extremely cheap price so they'll easily make 15m in profits off of him. He can provide the extra dimension Liverpool need to connect midfield and offense. If he can form a partnership with Gerrard and Suarez, Liverpool will be very deadly. I can guarantee you this though. Kagawa wants to come to the premier league and if Liverpool don't buy him he'll be wearing a the MANCs jersey next season. If Alex Ferguson's out to buy him, he's worth the price.
ReplyDeleteGetting rid of Suarez is unlikely. He's out best player and he still has loads of potential to fulfill. It would be foolish to sell him at this stage. It's the same with Carroll. You can't just offload a 30m signing after one and half bad seasons at Liverpool. FSG have lost 50M in transfer value but it doesn't mean they can regain some of that through better performances. Ba will certainly not leave Newcastle if they qualify for champs. Not to mention, your 7m valuation is way too undervalued to even be considered. FSG are also sticking with Kenny Dalglish not Rafa. If you're going to make a valid prediction on the squad you should think realistically.
ReplyDeleteIt's not weak. Their passing sense is amazing. They possessed the ball in the opposition half more than any other team in Europe (excluding Barca). Their problem is creativity; nobody is willing to take on defenders (except Suarez). Kagawa can bring that extra dimension and his market worth has surpassed that of Honda. He's the prized asset of Asia at the moment. For 15m, it's a bargain. If Liverpool aren't going to invest he'll go to Man U for sure. I don't know what's worse... He'll score against us for sure.
ReplyDeleteHe must be joking, he is soooo much better than Messi and Maradona!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid it was sarcasm.
ReplyDeleteADAM was signed because of his dead ball ability, how many of his set pieces actually ended up in goals? - he cant evn score a penalty.Dont know what ball you are watching.Suarez is our best player and he was not signed to replace Torres as someone mentioned.
ReplyDeleteYou probably think that Henderson had a great season also!
LFC really needs a world class manager with credentials that knows how to buy success and develop potential youngster. Please, this person must not be KD, definitely. 50 mil pounds on JH and AC, described as players for the future is what he has to show for this season. Apparently, if KD is still managing LFC, we will not need to waste time looking beyond England for players as he is not capable of doing that.
ReplyDeleteAs for Kagawa, I remembered we discussed about him sometime ago. I really don't think he will ditch Dortmund, Bundesliga champion for 2 successive seasons, for Liverpool. Looking at his credentials, I'm sure there are interest from clubs in Spain and England that offers Champions League football.
Looking at the present situation and management of LFC, the only chance for LFC to attract established players like Kagawa is by breaking the bank and pay them ridiculous wages. This is going to destroy LFC's finances and set it back even more. We are more desperate for a world class manager that can attract better players to play for LFC rather than having mercenaries that comes to LFC purely for money. Ultimately, FSG is a sports management group and not some oil tycoon with no financial limitations.
Compared to Adam !! Are you for real ? Have you ever actually watched Kagawa play ? He is light years better than Adam
ReplyDeletehave you not seen the amount of times suarez put balls across the goaline for tap ins this season. its not his fault liverpool dont flood the box with players. we are the only side n the league whos players never take a chance and be in the right place at the right time like dirk was 3 times against the scum last season. suarez is a fantastic player who can score but we need everyone chipping in. ask robbie fowler or john aldridge if they would like to play with suarez. in the 80's we had kenny and beardsly doing what suarez is doing now. even greats like those couldnt do it alone.
ReplyDeleteactually its you that doesnt have a clue. provide positional security does that mean get booked in the first 15 minutes of every game and keep giving the other team freekicks in good positions. adam is ok but should only ever start with lucas.
ReplyDeleteno point looking to websites for accurate info. not one website had us signing henderson [who is getting better] last year.
ReplyDeleteyour as mad as he is. we had our overhaul the 30 somethings will be moved on this summer and replaced with guys who can go straight into the team i hope. remember everyone was crying about how poor our squad was last season it takes time and after this summer kenny and fsg's plan will be alot clearer. there's not one man on the planet who can give us a quick fix. lets hope fsg have more patience than the so called fans.
ReplyDeleteHow can you even mention Adam as any sort of force in our midfield.. Be happy if he goes & will pay his bus fare!!
ReplyDeleteGo to specsavers..
ReplyDeleteIf his managers comments are right then I think the hurly burly of the Premier League will swallow him up and like many players who are good abroad he will flop when he comes here.
ReplyDeleteMick couldnt agree more there was no speculation regarding Henderson until we were trying to agree a fee. I also agree that Henderson is looking a better player now. Most Players take 6 months or so to settle and Henderson has taken a bit longer. He will be a great player for the club moving forward.
ReplyDeleteBa apparently has a low transfer clause, hence the £7m fee
ReplyDeleteWhy don`t u go n bark elsewhere steven! Suarez is our best player period. If he was surrounded by better players then his game would have been even better in terms of assists and/or goals...
ReplyDelete"Assurance on the ball"?? Are you having a laugh?? Adam gives the ball away and commits needless fouls.
ReplyDeleteHHAHAHAHA! Thanks for giving me a much needed laugh mate!
ReplyDeleteI'll chip in for the ticket provided we are not getting him a return !
ReplyDeleteI think when people call the team poor they either forget what our problem has been or don't watch the games. We don't lack creativity we have the fourth most amount of shots on goal in league. That means we are creating chances. The problem has been we have the lowest conversion % in league. So it's not midfield that's the problem. It's conversion. We also have one of the smallest shots at goal against ratios wich means are defence us good but oddly one of the highest conversion rates against so hardly any shots but most went in. Goally and striker issues.
ReplyDelete'not midfield that's the problem'
ReplyDeleteWell the midfield needs to chip in with goals too, especially in the games where Suarez is the sole striker. The likes of Meireles and Maxi chipped in with a few goals last season from midfield.
suarez is a flop OMG he has 17 goals 7 assists i dont think thats bad...and have you seen aquilani play his passes are delicate passes unlike adams which is a rocket that most players cant control .....
ReplyDeletei believe that liverpool need one centerback, one english winger, one south american winger, african defensive mid, spanish/italian/german attacking midfielder and proved forward
Lennon,lucas moura,Hummels,Annan,Gotze, llorente
I couldn't agree more with Steven, Adam has been our stand out player this season !
ReplyDeleteAdam not starting today is why I think we will loose
