POLL: Would you accept KD sack *now* if it meant immediate Benitez return...?

Former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez still retains fanatical support amongst Reds fans, and with the club enduring its worst league season in years, many fans are actively calling for the revered Spaniard to be given a second chance at Anfield. If the option was on the table, would you be willing to see Kenny Dalglish sacked if it meant Benitez took over right now?

Like Benitez, Dalglish has deep, entrenched support amongst the Liverpool fanbase, but who do fans trust more to lead the club forward? The question for consideration is this:

* If there was an option to sack Dalglish with immediate effect and replace him with Benitez, would you support that change?

In this hypothetical scenario, there's no option to wait until the end of the season; I'm interested to see how many fans would accept the sacking of a longstanding club legend just to see Benitez back at Liverpool.

After everything he's done for the club since 1977, Dalglish has (IMO) earned the right to be exempt from the ignominy of being sacked. However, I know there are fans out there who would be only too happy to see Dalglish's legacy tarnished if it meant Benitez returned to Anfield.

Could it be that Benitez is actually more revered than Dalglish? Or is Dalglish's popularity unimpeachable?

The Poll is anonymous, so make sure you tell the truth!

To be clear: I am totally against Dalglish being sacked before the end of the season (or at any point) just to accommodate Benitez, or indeed any other manager.

When the time comes, move him upstairs; give him a Bobby Charlton-esque ambassadorial role; allow him to resign, and if he refuses, pressure him (behind closed doors) to step aside. Anything but the sack, which would be damaging for the club in may different ways.

  2. Ofcourse its a no brainer. Champions league every year and he would have got us a decent striker for 35 millon get daglish out. hes been out of the game to long look what he done to newcastle and celtic

  3. what is your opinion on the matter jaimie interstes to see what you think

  5. Scrap this inane question Jaimie - this is not a topic for serious Liverpool fans ...... Poor poor show - time for me to filter out your Blog I'm afraid - pity as used to enjoy your factual data based articles. You need to understand the difference between serious respect & blind faith - true Liverpool fans will give Kenny the benefit of the doubt because he has earned it - not because of what he did on the pitch but because of what he did as Manager first time around on the field and in the aftermath of Hillsborough.

  6. Rafa is and always will be the better tactition, in the past he wanted to run the club from top to bottom, how would he get on with  Damion  Camolli, he should not have left so soon and was part of the turmoil that followed the takeover. For me i would welcome him back tomorrow if it could be done with respect to all party's.

  7. Benitez was running om empty when he was sacked. And the downfall of Liverpool FC has much to do with the departure of Alonso and Mascherano. Benitez did nothing to keep them and replaced them with crap. But then again KD has clearly lost it too! So neither!

  8. I wouldnt want KK to get the sack only if he stepped down

  9. Make him the Director of Football and then offer the job to Rafa, a bit of respect here Jaimie!

  10. The records speak for themselves. Despite battling the cancers Rafa's record in terms of league and CL appearances is much much better than Kennys recent record. Rafa was sacked for getting 63 points (a year after getting 82!). If we win all 7 remaining games we'll get 63 points this year (highly unlikely), and this with money to spend and not battling cancerous owners.

  11. Rafa did not get rid of mascherano. It was during Hodgson era. Mascherano always wanted to leave. But wud u say no to Barcelona?
And I wud welcome back Rafa! But only if dalglish stepped down and not sack!

  12. great question, and im not surprised the outcome of the vote.
was sad the way raffa went out as it would be if kenny went out now, but id hope kenny would run the youth or reserves at least.
raffa can get top players with propper money, especially from spain. we never saw the best from raffa

  13. I never wanted Benitez to be sacked because i thought he was doing the best job anyone could have done in that situation and he almost jeopardized his career trying to get those owners out. Benitez is great tactician and most of the times, he used to get his tactics right, he completely transformed the academy which is going to bear fruits soon.
I really enjoyed Liverpool under Benitez specially 2008-09 season when i thought Liverpool were the most entertaining team in the league, if squad was bit stronger then Liverpool would have won the league.Eventhough i like Kenny too and don't want him to get sacked but if and only if Benitez is his replacement then i won't mind replacing him with Benitez as manager and give Kenny some sort of ambassadorial role.
Kenny did great job as caretaker manager and he was only person who could have done that but he undid his work of last season with his transfer business and team selections. Tactically he gets lot of things wrong now, his team selection is almost always baffling. He doesn't change things even when nothing is happening in the game. He is very defensive coach. Benitez was defensive too but he didn't shy away from taking calculated risks to win a game but i haven't seen even once Kenny taking risks to win a game.

I don't want to see Kenny getting sacked but hopefully he steps down himself at the end of the season as he doesn't look like the person to take the club forward.

  14. Give kenny time to respond. We had what we thought to be a deep squad, this proved to be untrue. Lucas was missed more than we can express, sorry I like spearing but his back passing is horrible! Start shelvey. Stevie might not get to roam but we will score GOALS! kenny just needs to pick his squad and formation and play our game. Not switch to counter every other team, give everyone their role. No more "headless chickens"! Please get it right kk!or give rafa 100 mil and watch us bring in foreign TALENT! Either way, please get us back to where this beautiful club deserves to be!

  15. The % doesn't reflect just Liverpool fans

If Kenny was sacked, never going to happen before the end of season, then I would love Rafa back

    ReplyDelete
  16. there is no comparison. Rafa makes us solid, feared and challenging, all with a lot less 'per season spend' than kenny has had in his first year. rafa improves players, is a tactical genius and has an amazing team of coaches around him. ffs he even brought borrell in and built up the youth side. Kenny pales into insignificance compared to rafa on every level, aside from as a player. we will not win the FA cup under kenny, if Rafa came in, we could win it.
Kenny has lost his mind. his press dealing's alone are sack worthy, who is he trying to kid? he's not a manager and needs to step down. Rafa would undoubtedly make some of those awful buys into players-downing and carroll would benefit no end, and adam would be sold.

  17. does anyone remember the way we played when we totally outclassed real madrid, barcelona.... we all remember the bad stuff. tbh if you gave benitez £100m to spend we would have had players like alves, villa playing at anfield. yeah we played boring looking football at times, but atleast we won games. At this rate I dont see Liverpool winning much more this season

    ReplyDelete
  18. The comments above from lion heart are spot on, we all love Kenny dearly for all he has done but right here right now Rafa is the man !!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. No chance - King Kenny should never get the sack; with what he's brought to the club...

He should be given a seat upstairs if, a very big if, the Board want to re-sign Rafa - If that's what Dalglish wishes, no-one has done more for Liverpool Football Club than he has

    ReplyDelete
  20. why are we giving kd chances when the last guy in charge of liverpool was booted out quicker than flies on poo. kd is not doing a good job. Lets face it the last 2 jobs hes had as a football manager flopped. once at newcastle and the other at celtic, oh and another thing... whats kds obsession with buying wanting to buy all the newcastle players.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I miss Rafa. The man was a Legend thrown to the wolves for fighting for the club we all Love. please KD youve tried your best now its times to let the true Messiah back.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Kenny should not be sacked, Rafa needs to find a job and success elsewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  23. you should never go back. fresh ideas are what's needed. if kk gets to stay next season, the british policy must be aboloished immediately. also, loyalty in public is fine, but poor excuses for lame ,inept performances must be dropped.it really makes us look stupid and a laughing stock.

    ReplyDelete
  24. No one has mentioned that KD might too stubborn and too proud to step down... I'm sure John Henry will give him the opportunity to do so, and if refused, would have no option but to sack him.

    ReplyDelete
  25. No. But i hope Dalglish will step down. As i said before, if he wins the FA Cup, he has earned the right to another season on the grounds that the players did not maintain the same intensity after the Arsenal game but we can still compete with the best. If he can explain how this will be rectified next season, then fair enough. But no one wants to see Kenny sacked, or not many, I don't think.

But if Dalglish were to move on, I would like the team to move forward and find a new manager. And if this manager came in and we have just finished 8th or 9th, the board would have to make it clear that we are looking at a long term job. Preferably one that will go forward, not go sideways as we have this season.

No more nostalgia and looking back at the past, time to move forward and start again if we are going to replace the current manager.

    ReplyDelete
  26. kenny should inform fsg now that he as taken us as far as he can & he intends to stand down when this season is over which will give fsg plenty of time for henry & werner to act to get in the new boss, personally not sure if it should be rafa as we are going backwarda yet again rather than looking to the future, however if it was a direct choice who should be in charge then for me it would have to be rafa who as the better knowlege of the modern game.

  30. Of course KD should go but bringing in Benitez will accomplish precisely nothing. All those brainless Rafa fans never mention his amazing success at Milan, do they? How long did he last there - seven weeks? Anyway, even if he was a great manager - he managed to get us trounced by Burnley and Reading by the way - what on earth could he do with the likes of Carroll, Henderson and Adam? Is he going to turn them into great players? Even Bill Shankly himself couldn't do anything with the players Liverpool have on the staff - they are quite simply rubbish. Changing the manager is sometimes beneficial but Liverpool have very grave, deep and - I'm afraid - insoluble problems. Nobody in their right mind should trust KD with more cash after what he did last year and we cannot get anything back on those players so they represent money completely thrown away. Liverpool is a club that is a perfect example of doing everything wrong, which is why their problems will just get worse and worse. At the start of the season I bet twenty euros they'd finish at least twenty points behind United - it will be exactly the same next year.

    ReplyDelete
  31. This is the Rafa who got kicked out at Milan for total incompetence? The Rafa whose tactical genius manifested itself in getting us put out by Burnley, Barnsley and Reading? The Rafa who treated Peter Crouch like crap when he could still be scoring goals for us? You can only go so far on stubborness and arrogance and Rafa has nothing else to offer. He didn't win either the Champions' or the FA Cup - Steven Gerrard did. He's as incompetent as KD - the only difference is that his excuses are marginally less absurd. But at least KD was a brilliant player and a great manager first time around. As for Carroll benefiting- in the immortal words of John McEnroe 'you cannot be serious.' He's the worst 'striker' in the Premier League and a total embarrassment. I cannot recall a poorer player in Liverpool red and I go back to November '66.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Unfortunately, the club is exactly where it deserves to be. Rubbish players equal rubbish results.

    ReplyDelete
  33. It's kinda funny really, from 'Rafa out, bring back Kenny' to this! Fickle much?In the words of Joni Mitchell: 'you don't know what you got till it's gone' although judging by the support around here, you wont be happy until Anfield is paved and they 'put up a parking lot'!

    ReplyDelete
  34. the depth of the squad is not the problem, the problem is kenny continues to keep faith with his big money signings, when everyone in the world can see there absolutely terrible!

The problem we have as fans is we are unquestionably loyal to the king and maybe this loyalty is blinding us to the fact he has maybe lost touch with the modern game and believes you can still build a team of english players that will win you things, unfortunately thats not true..

As much as i liked benitez i do believe he was a very negative manager who was sometimes more concerned with stopping the other team playing rather then making them think they had to stop us, so i dont know if i see him as the future, i would like to see rijkaard given a chance after all barcelona even now are still predominantly the team he built, and if not him then pellegrini

  35.  This season is a write-off, for me, its now about setting us up for next season.
We need to spend our money in the summer transfer window more prudently.

And in order to do that, we need someone to come in NOW, and give the kids a chance in the first team.
This will tell us who's close to stepping up for the first team next season.
That way we can identify our weaknesses and better target our problem areas with our limited funds.

Kenny doesn't seem to want to drop his under performing big dollar recruits, so we need someone unburdened from those purchases to come in and make an unbiased assessment.

Rafa helped set up the academy and knows many of the kids we recruited firsthand.
He is also a high profile coach and will be able to attract many big name players even without Champions League football.
In my opinion he should never have been sacked.

Could someone please explain to me just how LFC has improved since he left...

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yes and get Daglish as far away from the club as possible. Remember Busby at the S--T down the east lanks he stayed around and they couldent come close to winning the prem puts to much pressure on the manager in charge. We got rid of shanks because of that and went on to unprecedented success. Daglish has been out of the game to long and the game has passed him by.

    ReplyDelete
  37. As much as I would have loved to c Benitez back I wouldn't like KD to get the sack. If he was to b moved upstairs and make way for him than yes. KD is and will always b a legend to me so I would hated if he got the sack.

  38. Some off u guys take it easy. There's two LEGENDS u guys r slagging off. One who's done lot for this club(KD) and one whose won us EUROPEAN CUP after 20 years and made us number one in europe. Easy guys easy.

    ReplyDelete
  39. If KD wont do the best for LFC like he has always maintained he would then how can anyone say dont sack him.He himself said no one person is bigger than LFC,he himself said he will always put the club before himself, well nows your chance to practisce what you preach.Rafa is amongst the favourite to be next manager of every single top job in europe, just check oddschecker. If we lose Rafa to one of europes giants due to KD not doing whats best for the club then how could any fan look upon him in the same light as they did before. We have a great chance for Rafa to come in and shake up the whole club,he has been watching everything at LFC,given the chance he will be straight in no messing and change the club within one hour of getting his job back for the better.Whereas KD wont change anything.

  40. I want a statue in honour of Roy hodges on. As Jamie rightly says he was never given a chance despite giving us Poulsen, konchesky and cole.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I hope yr not serious.

  42. blame that on djimi traore! rafa bent over backwards with hicks and gillette and put his neck on the line so many times. There is no one and i repeat no one more suited to this job.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I love him but dont want Rafa back as manager. As Id like to win the premiership.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Benitez alienated Alonso so much with the whole Barry saga that he left. One of the best midfielders of his generation.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Kenny has earned the right to a little more time. Yes the buys he made have not worked out but look a Lucas , slated for 18 months then the penny drops and he looks an inspired buy ! Rafa was fantastic for Liverpool and if given the funds Kenny got would he have made better buys, yes I think he would have. But surly any manager has to be given a decent shot at the job and if that manager is Kenny Dalgliesh should LFC not give him at least a 2 year period to see if it works? We are lucky to have people like Kenny and Rafa who both love the club and I couldn't think of anyone I'd rather see step in if Kenny can't get this over priced squad to work in unison and play to the ability expected at LFC.

    ReplyDelete
  46. tell me who fits the bill for you?

    ReplyDelete
  47. benitez is a world class manager never should have been sacked kenny is not anywhere near him on a tactical level and wud never ever buy a player like carroll or henderson two worst signing of all time kenny was a fantastic player but we have to draw the line their he should be involved in the club but not as a manager

    ReplyDelete
  48. I have great respect for Rafa, but Kenny must be given more time to change things around this summer. There is an immediate need to make a lot of changes at LFC. A good number of players like Carroll, Henderson etc, must be replaced with some new good players especially, strikers. It is time that LFC return to its greatness. I agree that Rafa is a great manager, but I would like to see a Liverpool that can destroy any team out there, and that can only be achieved by applying an all attacking game from start to finish, just like Liverpool used to be when KD was playing.

    ReplyDelete
  49. The season is gone virtually so out of respect for Dalglish get him to quit behind close doors and give him an ambassadorial role i think that is a great idea.
I do not think Liverpool will be bringing Rafa back just dont see it but in my opinion he is a great manager and would be welcome.

    ReplyDelete
  50. No. If there was the name of O'Neill or some other promising candidate in place of Benitez's, I would say yes, but I don't believe a sacking of Dalglish and appointment of Benitez at this moment would be worth it.

    ReplyDelete
  51. But Dalglish bought Carroll and Henderson. To move them would earnh how much? perhaps £12m for each maximum. So, a loss of over £30m of just those two. Adam? Who'd buy him? Downing? perhaos £10m - another huge loss. No, Kenny doesn't need more time to change things. There won't be the money to make the changes you want to see if he stays. Do you really think the owners would trust him and Comolli with any more?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Without much investment in players, Inter Milan was a declining football team. Not much Rafa could do. Add on the injuries, Rafa did not have the full squad to choose from.
Just look at the league standing now and you can see the total decline of Inter Milan

    ReplyDelete
  53. Peter Crouch went because he wasn't first choice so was on the bench - because of Torres. So how is picking Torres ahead of Crouch treating him like crap? The way Torres was playing then, and even now, there was no contest

    ReplyDelete
  54. I don't know how any LFC supporter can blame Dalglish for the current situation or think that by replacing him things will get solved. I think the players are to blame for this weak performance. Remember, most of the players have been around for a long time and it is time to refresh the team. Unfortunately, most signings last summer have turned out to be really bad so it is time that LFC should take a closer look at Comolli and replace him with someone who has given a lot more to the club, somebody like John Aldridge etc., so they can buy the right players for Liverpool. There is no need to buy super expensive players because sometimes they just don't get to play efficiently with each other. Hopefully, LFC will rule again.

    ReplyDelete
  55.  rafa benitez are welcome back and move kd upstairs

    ReplyDelete
  56. I agree that Dalglish means too much for the lfc and for him to be sacked by the club, whom he has devoted his life to would devastating to everyone linked to the club. I would have loved to have the seen the triumphant return of Dalglish galvanizing lfc back to the top, but it seems a distant dream now. It looked like he might do it when we were looking forward to this season at the end of the last one but it hasn't. I'm not afraid to say that we miss Torres ripping through defenses and sending fear to our competitors along with our other big players, but now we have become a joke. I would be sad to see Dalglish leave but it must be done, I would only get rid of him though if we were to get Benitez, or some other world-renowned manager. Most preferably Benitez. He knows this club, and this club is still in his heart. I can only imagine what Benitez could do if he finally got his hands on some money.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Abush27, Is that you Aldo? How you doing mate?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Crouch probably went - we don't know for sure - because when he played and scored Benitez dropped him for the next game. Happened many times. The way Torres is playing now?!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I think you guys should take a deep breath and wait n see what the King is really planning. English young players added last summer, this summer is going to be mainly talent from elsewhere. I can see a CL spot at the min next season if we stick to the plan. Look how long it's taken City to get competitive and for how much.

    ReplyDelete
  60. No, it is not Aldo sorry, but I am doing well thanx for asking.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Kenny has to go, any other manager would have been sacked long ago and definitely after the wigan result. But not Rafa back please, he lived on the Champs Lg win for 5 years! Do you forget his signings like Josemi ,Kromkamp and Pelegrino? His Fergie rant which drastically backfired (althouth true) fact! We should go all out for Mourinho if we want glory, simple as that end ov!

    ReplyDelete
  62. C'mon guys, wake up, let's show some support for the greatest player of LFC of all time, KD. Give him a chance. Yes, we are doing really bad right now. But, let's be patient and look forward to some great new signings this summer and hopefully we'll be on top again.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Hell no. Don't want someone who thought El Zhar was a promising young prospect at 23 as Liverpool manager.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Majoriity of success Benitez had in his career was when he had Paco Ayestaran by his side. Without him Benitez is nothing. Liverpool lost their bouncebackability when he left. Forget Daglish and Benitez give Carragher or Gerrard the player/manager role til the end of the season. Seriously, they can't do any worse!

    ReplyDelete
  65. This cliche talk is quite insular.  Giving into Dalglish's reputation 20 years ago is exploiting the very idea of building a modern day Liverpool squad in the present.  What has Dalglish shown in recent memory to make you think he has progressed as a manager?  What makes you think Dalglish knows what he's doing this season?  What makes you think Dalglish would be trusted with more money after wasting so much?  I'm sure Moores senior is rolling in his grave to see Dalglish spend so much and perform so poorly.

    ReplyDelete
  66. No.  Crouch wanted first team football at Liverpool and knew he couldn't displace the front pairing of Torres and Gerrard - on of the most feared partnerships on the planet at the time.  So he went elsewhere, Rafa did not want to get rid of him.

    ReplyDelete
  67. No, don't want Rafa back. CL aside, he was rather overrated. Time to move on.

    ReplyDelete
  68. So cliche yaaaaawwwwwn.

What about no one being bigger than the club?  Is standing on sentiment more important than the success of Liverpool as a football club?

    ReplyDelete
  69. Despite his legendary tenure with the club it's obvious that KD has too go. John Henry will most likely phase him out gracefully after the season ends. As for Benitez that's the wrong direction as well. LFC should be looking at some new blood with fresh ideas as to how the move the club forward. Not saying that I know who that is but we need to clear out the cobwebs.

    ReplyDelete
  70. This season is gone. Looking forward, I would love Dalglish to have another shot next season and hope the team finally starts to click. No to Rafa; he's a great manager but I doubt he is the right man to bring the PL trophy home. AVB anyone? Ha.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Rafa is a fantastic manager and I was sick the day he was sacked, then I nearly had a stroke when he was replaced by Hodgson.
But Kenny is the manager now and I implore all Liverpool fans to get behind Kenny and the team and let's not be calling for our 4th manager in 2 years, even if it was to be Rafa.
We have had a difficult season with suspensions, injuries, loss of form, new players settling in and a new coaching team, I doubt many managers would have really made a significant difference in their 1st full season at the club.

    ReplyDelete
  72. jesus christ!!... oh poor poor Dalglish.. paid millions of pounds a year to take the club back 10 years and peole are afraid of hurting his feelings??? are you kidding??

    ReplyDelete
  73. It's utterly stupid people saying Kenny is above sacking. That's how clubs get ruined. He was good before and now he's useless. Just like players when they're not good enough they're given the boot. Kenny OUT! Benitez in! Benitez is a better man and better manager. If Kenny really loved Liverpool he would just leave after wasting over a 100 million of Liverpool's money with gross negligence.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Like to also mention an excellent candidate in Brendan Rodgers. He worked alongside Mourinho at Chelsea and then worked his way up as manager from the Championship to Premier League. Certainly impressive CV, plus he's young so I would presume he would have the drive and fresh ideas. Love the way Swansea play thus far, without fear, with less well-known players yet dominating possession. Imagine what Liverpool can become if he does the same here.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Newcastle players are bottom of the barrel. Sad days for Liverpool if that's our target.

    ReplyDelete
  76. No we don't need Rafa back, what we do need is a clear out of our under - performing,high-wage so-called superstars, you know who they are, players who we paid way too much for in the first place and who have failed to deliver on a consistent basis. It's true that KD and Commoli brought these players in but it is the players themselves that have failed to live up to their hype and reputations, start playing some of the young guys ,get a couple of proven quality goalscorers and get rid of these over-paid "stars" who don't give a rat's-ass whether they are playing for LFC or not!!! LFC supporter for over forty years and it saddens me to see where we are at the moment but sacking KD won't help!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  77. He was more promising than Henderson, that's not saying much though.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Fact! Rafa took 6 seasons rebuilding team get rid all foreign players under previous management and finally got 7th place, not qualified for UCL spot.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I agree, with the new Liverpool sponsorship deals Benitez would get over 50 million per year to spend so he wouldn't have to buy the crappy cheap players like before. He would turn Liverpool in to a real force again with that kind of backing from the owners.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Yeah let's blame everyone but Kenny.

    ReplyDelete
  81. You're right, Kenny seems completely lost and overwhelmed. Liverpool hired a postman to build a house. Kenny's no idea what he's doing.

    ReplyDelete
  82. You couldn't make it up.. 'Rafa out'.. 'Kenny in' .. 'Kenny out.. 'Rafa in'

Is this the twilight zone or something.. !?

Ever herard the expression 'be careful what you wish for' ?

Well here's another one.. 'You made your bed, now lie in it'

Or should i say 'you made your bed, now support in it'

Some of you make me sick .. Anybody suggesting that King Kenny Dagalish should suffer the ignominy of being sacked from his/our beloved Liverpool should hang their heads in shame..

This is the man that 99.99 per cent of you begged, kicked and screamed for when Hodgson was uncerimoniously given the boot.

Forget the fact that he's the greatest player to ever wear the Liver bird on his chest and contributed hugely to the most sucessful period in our history, both as a player and a manager.. seriously forget that.

    But don't forget..

This is the young man that went to up to four funerals a day in the aftermath of Hillsborough.. Who first hand and better than most witnessed the level of suffering and greif that ripped trough Liverpool, both city and club.

A young man that carried the heavy burden of being the focal point of alot of this greif and suffering as manger at the time. It took it's toll. 18 months after he was a broken man, and anybody who saw his press conference that day will attest to that.

'All the emotion and stress of Hillsborough, all the weight of
responsibility he felt, had taken its toll. Hillsborough was devastating
    for dad.' Kelly Daglish.

So despite poor results and signings and whatever else we may all agree or disagree about.. can we all have a modicum of civility towards one of our greatest servants.. and one who served us better than anybody during our darkest days ..

However you may feel about his performance as manager since his return, He at least has earned the right to be treated with respect..

Truth stands, even if there be no public support, it is self sustained. Gandhi

  84. Half a year, with half of the first team injured, won two Cups. Then he dared to criticise Moratti (not the most consistent person among the owners of big clubs, look at his treatment of Ranieri, etc.!) for not keeping the promise and not backing him, and was sacked next day.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Jaimie is just checking once again how 'fickle' we are. His opinion that he voiced many times is that Kenny is crap, Benitez is crap, but Hodgson on the other hand is a decent chap and he should have been given more time.
So now Jaimie is just making a scientific research into how the crowd can turn against their idols.

Well, the truth is, we all want Kenny to succeed. We all hurt that he failed this season (Don't tell me that Carling Cup is a massive achievement!)  But it is not we who make decisions. It's the owners and only them. They will take into account all pros and cons, financial aspects, potential, etc. They will definitely not sack Kenny now, but will give him time till the end of the season.

  86. As for Rafa, Yes, any day of the week. He loves the club. He is a great coach. Great tactitian. He made some mistakes, yes. He admitted them and had time to think over them, and take into account the mistakes of the others. He had 15 months to analyse, and whatever anyone says, he's a very smart man, and loves to analyse things. So yes. Rafa is the one I'd trust, because, just like Kenny he also loves the club, and he deserves another chance under the better owners.
And I can promise you, we will end up in the Champions League final in no time, even with the squad we have. Because our players are not too bad. They just need someone who will make them play football. Rafa can do it, absolutely.

    ReplyDelete
  87.  Yes, you are a cliche... 'No-one bigger than the Club'? Becoming a Director is the least Dalglish has earned; nothing to do with being 'bigger'!

What's your next gambit? "My Dad's bigger than yours"?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Mascherano's respect for Benitez for giving him his chance, I don't think he would have left Liverpool for Barcelona, it would have been a harder decision to make, how easy it was for him to decide when Hodgson was bringing the team down.

  89. We should all
    have to start wondering:

    1.      Are
John W. Henry, Thomas Werner, Ian Ayre, and Damiel Comolli possessed with the
same feelings of humiliation and embarrassment as most of LFC’s fans are by
watching one of the most historic teams to be humiliated by all of its
    opponents in 2012?

    2.      Do
they really have the pure intentions, as they are trumpeting, to turn around
    the fortunes of this team?

    3.      When
will they finally realize that as long as they do not act decisively and
immediately to appoint a world class manager and sack Kenny Dalglish this team
will always be on the red alert zone?

    4.      Will
John W. Henry and Thomas Werner start eventually protecting their investment
and the sponsors who are heavily investing in LFC’s world-recognized brand
    name?

    5.      Will
John W. Henry and Thomas Werner eventually and finally be consulted honestly by
the football experts and informed that what it is happening to LFC in 2012 is
not a normal and healthy condition/development?

    6.      Will
Ian Ayre as the Managing Director and Damiel Comolli as the football director
finally start acting as pure professionals and step aside any emotions of
favoritism towards Kenny Dalglish and finally advise/consult John W. Henry and
Thomas Werner to make the right decision(s)?

    7.      Will
Kenny Dalglish finally start acting as a pure Liverpoollian and step down as
LFC’s manager as he can help this team find its recovery path?

The recent development from John W. Henry and Thomas
Werner to require a written report by Damien Comolli, Kenny Dalglish, and Steve
    Clarke is a very
encouraging/promising movement that simply signalize their intention not to
compromise with mediocrities and their determination to not tolerate from
anyone, even if his name is Damien Comolli or Kenny Dalglish, with his
decisions to put the overall success of turning the fortunes of this historic
club around and guide/lead it to a new golden era in jeopardy. Every cent/penny
that will be provided by them as a transfer budget should be spent wisely not
on ambiguous value football players, but on players that have a proved record
that can make the difference. On this specific aspect both Damien Comolli and
Kenny Dalglish have failed and they are held responsible for that. Damien
Comolli has succumbed to Kenny Dalglish’s limited knowledge of modernized
football and tactics by bringing in players that are not made up for a club as
LFC. This proves that they both (Damien Comolli and Kenny Dalglish) do not have
the knowhow of how to build a title contender team in today’s modernized
football. My assessment on Damien Comolli is based on the fact that by holding
the position of football director should apply veto when he feels/believes that
the players the manager/coach is asking for cannot stand up to the standards of
a club like Liverpool. My assessment on Kenny Dalglish is based on the fact that
he was out of the game for a decade and he cannot understand the changes that
    applied in this field.

let RAFA back..he will give us CL football every season..

    ReplyDelete
  95. I would not like Dalglish to get sacked but he should announce his resignation, leave with dignity and take an ambassadorial position at the club. Who can forget his achievements both as a Liverpool FC player and manager. Unfortunately, the management skills he utilised in the past are no longer viable nowadays.

Today football is not just a game of pass and move but also one filled with tactics. There's a gameplan. The manager must make calculated risks as to when to change players and in which position to move players during a match. Our 0-2 defeat at Newcastle quickly springs to mind here. Dalglish did not make any change until the 75th minute. It's clear he has no gameplan. He does not know how to change a game.

Building a squad around British players was never going to pay off. I mean England has won nothing since 1966. What KD constantly does is stick to his buys. Henderson does nothing on the pitch. Sterling showed more potential during the 10 minutes he appeared than Henderson did all season.

Adam is so slow on the ball and has rarely looked threatening. In fact, it's a good thing he's injured! Downing has not delivered a decent cross which was turned into goal since the start of the season. I have no words for Carroll. Make no mistake, they are the players which start practically most of the games while Maxi and Kuyt continue to pile up the hours warming the bench.

Players with potential such as Aquilani, Mereiles and Cole were offloaded to accommodate for these so called superstars who have heavily let the club down. Now it's time for a change. I feel that Rafa has unfinished business. He achieved so much with so little. I can imagine the players he would have brought in if he had been given the 100M Kenny got. I for one would welcome Rafa with open arms. He brought us consistency and CL football. I admit sometimes we would play negative football but at least we won games. He was sacked with 63 points after one bad season. We could end this season with less than 60 points.

Football can be an unfair game but when change is needed, it's needed. We cannot let one of the most revered footballing institutions in the world slip. We cannot let the Liverbird grow weak and be dominated each time. We cannot afford to go down to mid table mediocrity. We must be brought back again to the heights where we used to be and IMO Rafa has the potential to bring us there once again.

  96. I wouldn't do anything until xmas. I know theres a lot wrong with the team but theres a lot right too. A lot of the midfield havent impressed but we are still getting the ball from front to back and with Agger and Lucus back the defence is v good. They need 2 goal scorers also. But sometimes when you make changes you also loose what you have. I would go after Newcastles french scout though.

  98. The answer would have been so much easier if the question were whether we would like Dalglish sacked and Roy Hodson immediately reinstalled :)

But life is not so simple... as the decision whether Roy is suitable for the Liverpool job.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Well actually its not just Kenny who has spent the money remember its a collective effort and the players were identified by scouts referred up the ladder to Damien and Kenny and then a decision was taken to go after the player or not.
I never wanted Rafa to go but since he did I felt Kenny was the right man to bring the LFC family together he did fantastically well and earned the right to be given a season but in my opinion its not the players brought in thats the issue its how they are used. Carroll needs to start more games build a system round him. Play downing on the left when Andy is up top maybe bellers on the right or even luis on the wing as dirk or jordan just cant cut it out there.
we never have a system in which to break teams down and when you dont have a plan A how can you change to plan B when  things dont work out.
As for bringing back Rafa well im not so sure that would be a great idea - I will say this Rafa would certainly get better results with this team than Kenny and Clarke are getting, this side switches off far to often and what Rafa did install in his teams was concentration and control of the ball, we now play nice football ( not so much lately ) but we cant win games and its a combination of switching off at the back and not being clinical up top.

  102. The owners are seasoned businessmen.  I don't think for one minute they would even consider sacking KD. They know better than anyone that this wouldn't be good for the club.  It would be "mutually agreed" that it would be best for everyone concerned if he stepped down - that's likely how it would be portrayed.  I'm not sure KD would accept being moved "upstairs" or "sideways".  This would just be insulting as everyone would know what that really means. Personally, I have no idea whether it's best that KD goes or stays.  Can he really improve things? Will things get worse? Are his signings actually capable of playing better? I just don't know - I have mixed feelings about it, but I do feel as though things are spiralling out of control at the moment.

you can literally count them on one hand and I would back any of them
to do it again providing they have the right squad available to them".

  106. Steven Gerrard  won everything, only Stevie won the CL for us hey Badger? you are a complete tool, if you know anything what Rafa did at half time was shear brilliance he put Hamann in the middle of the park which freed Stevie up, it is called MAKING A CHANGE,when we needed to, something that our great Kenny knows shit about. I love him for what he has done in the past, but what all you KK (the manager) fans fail to remember is that no one person is bigger than LFC. He will not step down because in his mind he is the right person for the job, which is going to force the hand of the owners and then, let me tell you all the fans are not going to be happy with the owners. I would like to see someone like Rijkarrd or AVB courted for the position these managers will attract some good quality footballers as for Rafa i would rather him than KK because he is a better manager. I heard AVB was having some problems because he wanted FL out, how true don't really know.

  107. We seem to forget that RB only had one bad season and was continually hampered by Statler and Waldorf.  He won one CL and was runner up two years later.  Put emotions aside and ask yourself can you honestly see us ever being in that position again under KK?   We need a manager who admits mistakes and gets the best out of a bad bunch.  Dalglish still insists that Henderson and Carroll are worthy of first team consideration.  We were crying out for inspiration against Newcastle and he brings on Henderson.  Nuff said.

I really dont know anymore and i feel that the pair of them would not get liverpool back up to the top. IMO if FSG want a return on a solid investment and are upto spending a lot of money in the short term for it to pay dividends then they need to get mourinho in. People can say all they want about barcelona but who are top of the league?? If there is the possibility of mourinho becoming available then liverpool should go all out to get him!!

As much as the man is a revered figure at Anfield, its unfortunately time for him to go.

  120. I am intrigued by your comment dont sack kenny now give him time until the end of the season..........this is just a few weeks away what will keeping him till then actually achieve. I want KD to stay but I want him to stay until christmas and lets see where we are. If FSG are going to ask him to go in the summer, better he goes now then his replacement will be able to assess the squad at close hand and decide who needs to go and what we need to buy. Dont forget this is going to be a difficult summer in the transfer market due to the Euros

  121. I posted elsewhere on this site that only Adam wouldn't make Rafa's starting 11 and was asked what I was smoking. Our players are indeed not too bad. Instead of just telling them to play their games, Rafa would tell each and everyone exactly what he wants them to do. Our entire squad at the moment is all talented with very usable qualities, only some of them are clueless on the pitch. Rafa will easily solve that. We will suddenly see Henderson, Downing and Carroll becoming very good because they will know what to do.

So what he's tried to do here (quite stupidly due to his dislike of rafa) is test us by questioning whether we would 'TURN'against a legend. Some people can see through you unfortunately jk!
He wasn't satisfied by just asking the question 'would you take rafa over kk now?' but had to destabilize peoples thoughts by, not once, but TWICE giving us reason to believe we wouldn't be TRUE fans if we did choose rafa! Foolish man!
Well here's one for you...... Wouldn't it be more beneficial if kk handed in his resignation to save his own, already tarnishing career? And for the record id love Kenny to succeed and I wouldn't say go now but if things don't or haven't markedly improved by end of the season id say yes! I for one see what rafa played with and not one of these people that swears he had masses of money..... Given some of the 50 odd million (not the 113 people quote) he would work wonders! Results and cup wins don't lie!! Furthermore before anyone moans about poor final year under rafa..... Thats simply down I'm sure to the h&g debacle and his far cheaper squad not being able to overachieve as in previous years! 125. How many managers do you know that have been a success in their last four jobs? That is as close to guaranteed success as you can get in todays game. And we need someone that we can guarantee will be successful.

    ReplyDelete
  126. great, so lets allow him to continue or recent form into next season and relegate us. Why not drop Liverpool from the team name and now call the team Dalglish FC?

He's out of his depth, all the other stuff does not change that. Best player, did incredible things after Hillborough, now outdated and not up to the job as a manager. Just because the first two positive facts are true does not mean that the negative ones are not true also. Life isn't that simple.

Are you two saying he should now be manager of LFC for as long as he pleases? If not, when is the time that he should be asked to resign? When the team gets relegated? When the team is in League one? Or if the team drops into the conference? A job for life for a manager is a recipe for disaster.

If you are not both saying that he should be manager till he decides he doesn't want it, Hillsborough, how many wanted him 18 months ago and best player ever are totally irrelevent in deciding who is the right man to manage the team now. Any true fan will realise that. Logic and sentimentality don't go hand in hand.

  127. If he stays until Christmas it will be a lot harder to get in a new manager and they'll only have the January window to rescue us. We could be in the relegation zone, with a lot of our senior and best players having left in the summer - Kuyt, Maxi, Cole & Acquilani (kulled and replaced with utter garbage) Suarez, Reina & Gerrard (better offers / sick of the mediocrity) Carra (retirement)...

    ReplyDelete
  133. to much sentiment for our king which glosses over all the cracks that are showing, the problem is FSG were not exactly bending over backwards to give kenny the job at the time of hodgsons sacking,
yes they did the correct thing in bringing kenny in to steady a very rocky ship which possibly only he could have done & proved to do, the problem is/was that when the ship got steadied they should have left him on that short term contract untill last summer with a view of offering him a directorship an ambassador role
this would have given FSG the time required to find a permanent replacement for the begining of this season,
by giving kenny a 3 year contract FSG have now put themselves in a very tricky position as it as now gone all pear shaped, if they choose to dismiss kenny from the managers role  there will be a wave of emotional anger from certain sections of our fans.

i dont go along with all this but it is king kenny nonesense he is a great ambassador for our club, which he is & we should not be treating him like this, the fact is we are in a results business & results are poor, FSG this summer have  major decisions to make, do they stick or twist with kenny? do they entrust him with a further war chest of cash? or do they dust the club down & go again?

can FSG take the risk of being no further on come next january & out of the title race & no chance of a top 4 place? my answer to all that is no as FSG will have to be brave & undo the damage that they had help to cause in the first place.

But I also remember Rafa as very stubborn; he rarely made a substitute before 60 minute, even though some played like shite. He also ruined some talanted players and had the habit of sacking someone who had played well in earlier game. And against lesser teams Rafa played to safe.
k, what does that make my opinion on KD then...?!
    Rafa > KD

    ReplyDelete
  140. KD!, NOT Comolli has the final saying on signings! So... who is to blame?
I'm quite sure that Adam (best merit as a relegation team hero) and Downing (not worth his shirt) wasnt Comollis choises, and even though Carroll and Hendo has turned out to be flops, they are still young and may turn out to be something.
Buying Adam when we had Meireles, Aqua and Shelvey in the team?
Before the transfer window we all cried out for good wingers and another good striker, instead we got shit load of mediocre CM.
The transfer window was a joke and turned out to be realized as a tragedy!
The manager (KD) puts out Carragher on the turf when we have a replacement who is way better in Coates! For what? for Carra to reach some club records?
He plays Downing even though Sterling plays rock'n'roll when shown the green.
KD is a disaster come managing the team!
I'd rather sing KDs name in "Fields of Anfield road" than having him managing our team! But if he continues, then we'll be forced to replace his name from the song :(

    ReplyDelete
  141. are you true?
KD has spent more money than any manager b4 in the time he has been in charged. With that money spent, even though thteam is in transition, we should at least improve from last year!
    Instead we have regressed!
    You cant live on dreams!
How much money do you think he should be allowed to spend?
Personally I believe that KD wouldn't win the league even though he had unlimited money! That bad is he's signings!

  144. never read so much rubbish in my life from some of ye so called liverpool fans...rafa!!!!are ye for real?the man cost up the european cup in 07,lost us the league in 09 and ye want him back?as for kenny not knowing what "modern football" is about, more nonsense.kennys philosophy hasnt changed, neither has the game of football.yes the fitness is much higher and diets play a key part but the balls still round and the goals still the same.we as a club were built on playing the game in the right way,it got us the successs over 30 yrs but when rafa and houlier came they destroyed our footballing ethos.at least kenny has tried to bring back the passing game and yes im as frustrated as anyone it hasnt brought us more wins but when you look at the overall picture we are a much more unified club under kk,we have had absolutely no luck this season, how many times have we hit the posts!!!!missed penos, plenty of attacking threat but again no good fortune.it will come, trust me,we wont be so unfortunate next season.problem now is that kenny will change the tactics and go long ball to suit carroll and protect the defence and that will be that for me.hope kenny sticks to our passing game and fcuk the critics.everyone knocks us so support the man and players!!!

    ReplyDelete
  145. So what your basically saying is Kenny had the finaal say on the poor players we signed?

    ReplyDelete
  146. offer king kenny a prosporous job in liverpool n let rafa benitez take on liverpool team.rafa benitez is a an excellent coach manager.

    ReplyDelete
  147. KD must go and let Rafa get on with the job he started and give him the money to bring back the Anfield glory, the premier league and the champion league sucess. Fed up with Dalgish and his Xmas Caroll.

    ReplyDelete
  148. CL means playing with Europes best which leads to accuring the worlds best. Having the worlds best = a more sustained chance of winning the leauge which is what we all want to see.

I dont see how CL can just be casted aside like that!

    ReplyDelete
  149. Thanks mark..

I always say some of these guys are as shallow as a garden pond and have the memory of the goldish that swim in it.

    ReplyDelete
  150. I don't know if a lot of people have fully realised the ramifications of the question, but if so, I find it disappointing that 2/3 (at the time of me writing this) have said they'd have KD sacked immediately.

I can understand people wanting him to not be manager any more, but at the very least he has earned the right to stay on until the end of the season and be moved upstairs (that sounds a bit like a gangster euphemism!) quietly, with dignity.

Also, just wanted to pick up on one thing you said Jaimie- I don't think this amounts to Rafa being more popular than the King, I think people just rate him more highly as a manager. You also have to bear in mind that there are a lot of people too young to remember Dalglish as a successful manager. A shame to see Kenny so openly disrespected though (but such is the internet).

I voted no, as you've probably gathered, but I do believe if we'd kept Rafa all along we'd be in a better position (not necessarily top four, I don't really know). I wouldn't bring him back though- the club has to move forward.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Football under Benitez was ugly to be kind. Yes we won the champions league, but for sustained progress there is no doubt we need an attack minded manager who encourages players to express themselves, not a manager who is overbearing controller, emphasising an unrealistic elimination of mistakes at the expense of curbing individuality and creativity.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Benitez was the worst thing that has happende to LFC. Never want to see him around again. Give KD a chance YNWA

    ReplyDelete
  153. lets have a different poll

how many of you,  who are so adamant in your "knowing " whats right for LFC , actually go the match ?

theres no doubt its gone horribly wrong these last 2/3 months but there no dispute before that we were on the right track .

the squad Kenny inherited was poor .
but at last we have won something .
so its not all bad .

Henderson and Caroll will come good .

IF we beat Everton we can finish with two cups and start again .

for those of you who go the match you will know how special a cup final is and what it really means to be a Liverpool fan .
dont get me wrong , its great to watch us win on the TV ,
but how special is it being in the stadium ?

lets get behind the team , seasons not over yet .

    ReplyDelete
  154. maybe its cos im 43yrs old but its scary how many fans would sack kk.are these older fans or in the majority younger ones who dont have the nostalgia of the dalgleish er?and even more scary is the bring back rafa brigade!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  155. I don't agree with the way Liverpool is playing this year and yes it is the worst since I remember! But Jaimie sounds a bit like Alex Ferguson s right hand in this poll with his ( mind games) YNWA

it shouldn't matter where they're from British or foreign all that should matter if they have the talent to succeed at LFC and if we can get them realisticaly at the best price. Those players we bought last summer have not been good enough apart from Enrique and Bellamy (free). Not all British players are rubbish and not all foreign players are good...

    ReplyDelete
  157. rafa the cancer back at the kop? no way jose.

    ReplyDelete
  158. No way Benitez comes back. Boring football is not the way to go. And Benitez has lost his mojo. Did you not see what he did at Inter?

    ReplyDelete
  159. Not sure what that prooves...that Rafa bought injury prone players? Anyway im not saying he didnt make some good buys but I think the only way Rafa would win the EPL is at a club like Man city or Chelsea where he had a squad full of top players where he can rest some and the others who come in can do a job.

    ReplyDelete
  160. I find it very depressing that our fanbase cannot move on without constantly harping on about Rafa, this guy needs to get a job elsewhere and allow the Club to move forward.......

Should not even be a consideration, out of work for too long and divisive, definitely NOT the type of manager we should be looking for.

The legacy he has left behind in the form of Reina etc......has been completely unsettling and IMO obstructive....

Of course there will be many LFC fans who would take Rafa back in a heartbeat, i'd go so far as to say that a certain percentage of the pro Rafa cult are secretly hoping Kenny does fail.....though they'd never admit it.....

Roys reign at the Club was partially sabotaged IMO by certain Rafa players still at the Club, torres being the main offender.....why? Because it would make Rafa's leaving look like a mistake......

Then along comes Kenny to try to unite the Club....and the sabotage continues.....and here we are with the fanbase split as to wether to keep Kenny or not....meanwhile the talk of Rafa gets louder....and a little more confident.....

As i've already said, we won't be able to move on until this Rafa legacy is put to bed, we need a new face at the Club and all those players who have not been putting in a shift or underperforing and are now unhappy....Reina Suarez for a start.... should leave and we can move on WOITHOUT Rafa and his "legacy"............

    ReplyDelete
  161. Absolutely!! People who question Rafa's ability in transfer markets talk RUBBISK, okay we accept Aquilani was a disappointment and Ryan Babel didn't justify tag of 1 of the most promising youngsters in Europe, but who would argue that Torres, Alonso, Mascherano, Reina, Agger, Kuyt, Garcia, Skrtel are not top class?
People mention Josemi,Nunez Kroncamp, paletta etc- but they cost hardly anything and were a last resort because LFC would not support Benitez in financially.

does sticking to the plan involve plummeting down the table into 9th or 10th place which is where we will likely end up come May ?

I envy you your optimism but saying Kenny will get us 4th place minimum next season smacks of blind faith  - he's shown us nothing so far to give any such claim credibility and dont count the run of form we went on when he first came back  - that was down to the whole club being lifted by his return and that honeymoon period is well past gone.

  163. Wilson Michaelpaul11:09 pm, April 05, 2012

blind faith,  sentiment and nostalgia are killing this club !

20 years in todays football climate is ancient history  - sadly, 24 hr mass media and the sky generation is all about NOW , outside of this club people dont give a damn about the past and as sad as that is its the truth  - we have move with the times if we want to stay relevant  - looking back all the time will get us slowly killed.

Jaimie,, The fact I can't see you post any responses is telling....LOL

I don't think the POLL went the way you thought it was going to go?

    SPEAK UP MAN !

    ReplyDelete
  165. It's not 'telling'; I've just been extremely busy today.

Re the Poll - it's actually gone exactly as I expected it to go; the result shows what I've been arguing for years: a high proportion of fans are incredibly fickle, and have no real feeling for the club's history.

The question was not 'would you like to see Dalglish replaced by Benitez' it was 'Would you accept the sacking of the one of the club's finest servants just to see Benitez return'.

So - despite the fact that there is only a month and bit of the season left, the majority of voting fans would rather see a club legend sacked than wait for him to step aside.

It's a sad indictment of today's fanbase, and that is what I wanted to show.

    ReplyDelete
  166. I never in my post mentioned anything about Kenny be given all the time he wants..

In fact I never even stated whether I wanted him to stay or go.. And for the record I'm having serious doubts if he is the man for the job.

I will however continue to support him til at least the end of the season when everybody has a chance to calm the fcuk down and take stock.. and if it is decided then he isn't the man for the job then at least the situation can be properly managed and he can go upstairs or bow out with a bit of respect and dignity, which I argued the man deserves after his massive contribution to the club over the years..

This article posed the question would you support Kenny being  SACKED NOW !!

This isn't a feeling brought on by sentimentality.. But anyone who would want to see the sight of Kenny Daglish packing his bags and driving trough the gates of Anfield with a circus of media vultures in tow ready to splice and dice him is in my view not worthy to call themselfs a supporter...

And for what ... So people can satisfy some childish tantrum that things aren't going our way.. in a season thats long gone.. BOOO WHOOOOoOO... Grow up, man up ..

Kenny daglish deserves more respect than that..

Its contradictory that you argue that his achievements are in the past, history and we need to move on. Yet your all about history when it comes to why he has to go.. We are where we are and have been for a very long time.. i.e. we've never won the premier league ! Your hanging on to history too mate .. you can't have it both ways !!!!!!

Its also ironic it's good Friday.. some good Judas impressions doing the rounds..

    ReplyDelete
  167. Spot on Jamie, in their desperate pursuit to see Rafa re-instated they are  overlooking (rather conveniently...) the fact that Kenny is a proper legend at this Club and should be afforded the dignity of being able able to stand down at the end of the season.

I personally feel that much of the fanbase felt very empowered by the H & G ousting, it was like a victory that they made happen, but the one issue left to deal with was somehow getting Rafa back who was of course the "Martyr" the one who "fought" the owners for the sake of the Club....

Thats the problem, these fans who want Rafa back seem to be brainwashed by the Benitez PR machine.....so much so that they have forgotten themselves....and forgotten the Liverpool Way.....

Perhaps the victory of ousting Roy went to their heads also....and now they lay in wait for Kenny, impatiently....., the worst part is that they know that many LFC fans would be up in arms if Rafa was brought back....its like they have tunnel vision and are just focussed on accomplishing their next mission...

IMO its embarassing and cringeworthy, this is a mission that is bound to fail, but this time round there WILL be resistance........

    ReplyDelete
  168. Badger, i suppose you could not stand us demolishing Real , barca and
manure. i suppose you prefer adam and henderson to alonso or mascherano,
or think carroll is better than torres? i suppose the fact that gerrard
scored his biggest tally under rafa, and had his best ever partner in
torres is completely down to his talent and nothing to do with rafa.
really that just shows how little you know about football at the top
    level.

Kenny is out of his depth , out of touch, and his attempts to replicate blackburn 1995 highlight that beyond any doubt.

Rafa would improve all of those players bar adam, who would be sold to
scotland where he belongs. KD has been even more stubborn in his
selections, and even more pig headed in his media dealings, bought more
rubbish and had worse results than Rafa ever had, all in one season.

Who can blame rafa for not caring about the worthless mug and the sweet
FA cup, they mean nothing these days. give me wednesday nights v the top
dogs of europe ANY day over those. the national cups are there for the
mid table dross who don't have a hope of winning anything else-something
we have now become c/o KD.

Rafa is the ONLY proper manager we've had since KD's player manager
days, days which are long gone. anyone who uses the half season after
hodgson's results to verify kenny's greatness is overlooking reality.
that was a temporary psychological lift that came and went. now is the
    reality.

  169. The simple fact that his successors have been so inadequate, does not prove that Benitez was the right man for the job.

My hopes are for Liverpool to win the title. Benitez wasn't going to do so, Dalglish isn't going to do so, and Hodgson was never going to take the club anywhere, regardless of how much time or money he could get. As such, I'd much rather the club look elsewhere.

Benitez is clearly a much better manager than Hodgson & Dalglish, but there are other fresh options that the club could look at to get to where we (supposedly) want to be.

Jaimie are you are you saying that Kenny should be given another season and some more money ?

    ReplyDelete
  171. Septimus_severus9:59 am, April 06, 2012

I've never advocated for Kenny's removal mid season.
I DO believe he should go at the end of the season, additionally this is not a fickle fan.
I've been a season ticket holder and supporter for 30 years.
The game has changed massively it's more international,it's more technical as well as tactical.
You either ADAPT to that or you get left behind.

I think the mistakes that have been made are at the Board Level.
    These being:

    1) Appointing Dalglish with a3 year contract based on a short run of 4 months
    2) The strategy of preferential buying of 'young british talent'
3)The lack of promotion of young talent already bought (should have adopted the ferguson model of going with kids)

These things may not make for nice reading or make fans feel comfortable.
However they do end up being reflected in the results in the premier league.
Which is why it's always so important to get things right at the board level.

  172. Under Rafa,

We beat Man Utd by 1-4 at Old-Trafford, We beat Real Madrid by 4-1 in CL, manage to outclass New Castle at St. James park by 2-5.....

What a time it was under Rafa.....

    "Bring Back Rafa......"

    ReplyDelete
  173. exactly. what is history? exactly the thing the mancs poke fun at, cause all we do is harp on about the past. that was then, years ago, while rafa put LFC firmly back on the map in recent times.
the rose tinted brigade can be as nostalgic as they wish regarding KD, im basing my opinions on gut feelings, which tells me, rafa would have this bunch playing better than KD. he'd have us playing as a unit and have average players punching above their weight. Kenny has players who have consistently topped stat's tables playing like chimps and looking drained.
time to forget the distant past and look at the best moments of recent years. only one man stands tall.

    ReplyDelete
  174. Nonsense, he bought those players, he picks them and trains them, and stubbornly refuses to drop them. Adam is one of the worst players ive seen at LFC for a long time. he costs us points and struts around thinking he's top gun. sticking with your fellow country men is OK if you are spanish, but not if your going to include awful dross like adam over young, local talent. look at how MO'N transformed sunderland, thats what good managers do. KD is not a manager, let alone a good one.

    ReplyDelete
  175. exactly, adam-5m , downing 10m, henderson 8m, carroll 12m=almost 50m LOST. that , the media handling and the complete lack of tactical nous(and same stubborn refusal to drop rubbish that made many dislike Rafa) would get ANY other manager sacked. if KD was even the most high profile hot, new young manager around, he'd be gone after such a dreadful effort. Our name is not on that FA cup. and that's not me being negative. we are not good enough, we don't deserve it. everton/spurs and chelsea are all superior to LFC at present.

    ReplyDelete
  176. alonso had been terrible for 2 seasons prior to that incident. rafa was kicking him up the ass, and it worked.

  177. kenny's non existent scout network.

  178. No. My view is in the article: he should step down at the end of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  179. If the poll is whether you agree that Dalglish be sacked (without mentioning Banitez), then 99% will be for Dalglish to be sacked.

    ReplyDelete
  180. Rafa rocks, Kenny and Roy sucks.  If the press is right, Dirk, Fabio & Maxi are on the way out, which clearly echoes that Kenny is preparing to sell good players of Rafa to ensure profits for the clubs to keep feeding those subpar British players.  Look at Carrol get send off in Newcastle, badmouthing his boss using F-words,  Kenny didn't say one thing, or maybe he likes it, but when Pepe, after he was invaded, not only Pepe didn't even start that little headbutt, Dalglish said "he deserves it"...  So, you have it, Dalglish will only protect people with British passports.  So, foreign players who have been working their butt off for Liverpool should all quit.  Why do u guys have to work so hard to protect a team that doesn't appreciate your great service...When Roy came, Mash got out, and then when Dalglish came, Aqualiani also was forced to eject, even John Henry said the Italian was great, but we all know what happen, because he ain't British.  So, keep supporting, Henderson and Downing, Adams, and Carrol, & don't even mention the foreign players, who play their butt off.  Its a British empire, foreigners are just here to clean up the mess for the Royal British.   AND Lucas, please stay injure, because, if you recover, you will have to clean their mess, and make them look good, you don't gain anything.  So, for those good foreign players, why bother Dalglish, let him french-kiss all his British super-stars....  Foreigners..  beware.

    ReplyDelete
  181. To be fair, Aquaman had a lot of talent, so did Babel. One was unlucky with injuries and then Hodgson came along, while the other just never seemed to unleash his potential. Still hasn't at Hoffenheim.

The rare moments I saw Aquilani in a red shirt in 2010-2011 I thought there was a really special player. Oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  182. We have to beat Everton and then Chelsea/Spurs. Not a foregone conclusion.

    ReplyDelete
  183. To be fair, we made the Champions League final twice in three seasons under Benitez, winning one and two cup finals, winning one. We were regularly beyond the quarter finals in the Champions League and were regularly in the top four in the league. Our points totals improved almost every year and if I'm correct in saying this we broke our points total record twice under him.

It's all well and good saying his football was ugly (It wasn't Spurs or Barca pretty, but it was effective and exciting at times and beauty is a subjective thing) but I can't remember a time in the last twenty years when it was so good to be a Liverpool fan.

Benayoun and Riera spoke out against him, but in reality, they were only ever good, not great. The Alonso situation was strange but I don't think we know the full story.

With the signing of Aquilani Liverpool actually began to play some really nice football, I think we all remember that move in the Atletico semi-final, so it would have been interesting to see how Liverpool would have progressed under Benitez. I believe they definitely would, especially with the funds we have now.

I'd be happy to welcome Benitez back, but I'd be equally accepting of a young, new, exciting manager. If that's the case, Germany is the country to look for one. The Bundesliga is the most exciting league by far at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  184. HAVE A LOOK AT THE RESULT OF THE VOTE !

  185. This is the same Crouch who couldn't score in how many games after he signed? Rafa to be fair still stuck with him.

    ReplyDelete
  186. Is this the same Rijkaard that got sacked in Turkey. Rafa has more managerial, tactical nous in his left pinky.

Barca teaches their way of playing and philosophy from the grass routes up. With a team of World Class players that have played together from a young age they have an understanding and the coach merely has to steay the ship. Rafa on the other hand won LaLiga twice in a league which is so hard to break the duopoly of Real and Barca.

    ReplyDelete
  187. I meant grass roots up

    ReplyDelete
  188. Fact?! I want some of what you're smoking.
We finished in the top 4, WON the CL, got to another CL Final, won the FA Cup, accrued the most ever points in the league despite having one or both of our star players Gerrard and Torres out for large parts of almost every season, signed World Class players for bargains: Rafa never got near the 39 million mark and wasn't bringing in 20 million+ players every transfer window... oh and lets not forget the last season when he finished 7th was following 3 negative transfer windows under the crippling owners.

    ReplyDelete
  189. dalglish still the liverpool manager and benitez as his assistant.........
