Liverpool have been linked with inter Milan striker Luc Castaignos several times over the last year, and it now transpires that Kenny Dalglish met with the youngster prior to the January transfer window in a bid to convince him to come to Anfield.
According to Voetball International, Castaignos visited Anfield to discuss a potential move with Dalglish, but Inter Milan nixed the possibility of a move during the January transfer window.
Clubs from Germany, Portugal and Spain are also reportedly interested in the Dutch striker, which could mean Liverpool will have a big battle on its hands if the club pursues its interest in the summer.
Castaignos - who is currently sidelined with a thigh injury - has barely featured for Inter this season, and he's managed only one goal in seven appearances so far.
How many more teenage attackers do Liverpool need? The club already has the likes of Teixeira, Morgan, Eccleston, Sterling, Ngoo, Suso, Amoo et al jostling to break into the first team, and the arrival of yet more competition could be counter-productive.
In any event, Liverpool need proven quality in the summer, and that must surely be the priority...?

Looks like another bright talent though, great volley during that Vid, the guy does have a touch of class for sure.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind that we are looking to bolster our attack options tbh, the more quality we have the higher the standards will be, but i agree that we already have younger players aplenty jostling for a start already, so it seems much less of a priority atm.
great, yet more 'potential'. we need PROVEN.
ReplyDeleteamoo and ecclestone are not good enough, ngoo is hit or miss, teixeira is a midfielder and suso and sterling are wide players so in answer to your question, more than one.
ReplyDeleteAgreed Jamie. We need quality players for yesterday. But this looks like for youth development. Not a bad thing moving forward though
ReplyDeleteagree with je... the more potential we can spot now, the better for the future, especially with the financial fair play rules. Get them in now, use them from the bench to get them top level experience. Been so unlucky this year with finishing. Not just down to strikers. It's spread throughout the team. One of those things. At least we are creating plenty of opportunities to score. That's encouraging. The build up play is fine, just the end product - the final ball, scoring. I'm positive about next season.... Hopefully we can get some good players in for fair prices, not over spending. Enough is enough. Newcastle can do it. Look at Ba and Cisse. Quality. Cabaye. Very creative. They took a chance on Ben Arfa cos of his injuries, but he looks really good too. The players are out there. Just got to make the right decisions.
ReplyDeleteThe strategy we are employing at youth level is good
ReplyDeletealthough may seem rather wasteful, it’s the same as Barcelona, Sporting lisborn
and Benfica use in that we buy lots of young players with potential with the
hope that one or two turn out to be the next ronaldo or messi thus saving
millions in transfer fee’s. these youth players cost £2m top but in just a few
years if potential is proven that could rise to £10-£15m. So far no one at
Liverpool has done that but I am sure that this transfer policy will prove
itself in years to come.
just been on talksport and they are saying we may be after a player called nolito from benfica. This proves my point if we do get him. This guy left barcelona last year for FREE. Now we may pay 15M for him. If he was that good, why didn't we go for him last year?
ReplyDeleteSimple Nigel - we dont know what were doing - its time for HOLLOWAY -Lets have some fun
ReplyDeleteNEW OWNERS SHOULD GET MARADONA - WHAT A PLAYER AND A GREAT MANAGER
ReplyDeleteYou really are a t.wat Kanwar.
ReplyDeleteJordan Rhodes
ReplyDeleteGot it in a nutshell !
ReplyDeleteJaimie would apopletic if we signed that cheating little Argie smackhead!
ReplyDeletesad but a fact.....Dalglish wants to nurture and improve the youth players, but if he doesn't give any chance to the youngsters, how the hell does he think they wil ever improve???
ReplyDeleteInter in the past 20 years or something discharged, labeled as shit players like Roberto Carlos,Frey,Mutu,Seedorf,Pirlo.....also for this is worth a shot,ha,ha,ha....OK,seriously i'd take him,but also another proven striker is needed.
ReplyDeleteCastaignos is my personal pick for a striker we should sign.
ReplyDeletespot on, no winners by all means according to Jamie, no matter our pride are at stake here, losers!
ReplyDeletesack KD is better than that!! arrogant..sick of him..plz sack him
ReplyDeleteNo we bought "potential" at 20 million for henderson and 35 million for andy caroll. How can this strategy be good!? We should have done like newcastle buying cheap, underated yet good players with GENUINE potential like demba ba et al... Kenny dalglish and co are trying to implement the moneyball strategy into our transfer policy yet they don`t even know how to do it right. They ended up wasting loads of money on players that will never turn good enough.
ReplyDeleteI may sound greedy but want him for sure apart from Morgan not a lot of young striking talent at Anfield.
ReplyDeleteI think though Soldado would be the answer to our prayers and Nolito could come in for Downing and as a backup striker.
That ain't what he means pal... LFC youth signings, not first team. Hence why Comolli is now back in France.
ReplyDeleteWe need to be trying to pick out as much young talent as possible and if 1 out of 5 turn out to be stars, then it will be worth it. The rest will have sell on value, so it should be a safe policy, as long as our scouts are not hopeless. Decent scouting is the best way to get this club back up near the top. If we are not careful, the name of LFC will not mean much to youngsters in 5 or so years. Which is why we cannot afford to keep slipping out of contention in the league and continue missing the champions leagues. The name Kenny Dalglish means nothing to most youth players.
ReplyDeleteChi Bai lu, dont judge the book by the cover. Do more homework on this guy we dont want another Ryan Babel.
