Despite presiding over the club's worst league form in fifty years, Kenny Dalglish has been trying to convince fans all season that winning the Carling Cup is a sign of 'progress'. The recent sacking of Damien Comolli seems to suggest that FSG do not share this view, and with Liverpool Chairman Tom Werner recently warning that Liverpool must achieve a 'strong' end to the season, the pressure is on for Dalglish to deliver. Since Werner's statement, however, the club's dire league form has continued, and Anfield legend Mark Lawrenson fears that even winning the FA Cup may not save Dalglish this summer.
Speaking to the Liverpool Daily Post, Lawro conceded that the 'Premier League table doesn't lie' and admitted that it's possible that Liverpool could 'fall out of the top half by the end of the season.
It sounds incredible to contemplate for a club of Liverpool's resources, but if Fulham, West Brom and Sunderland win the weekend, the club could find itself in 11th place by Monday, something that worries Lawro, who added:
"The fixture list means they could even win the FA Cup and still finish the season on a downer.I never thought they could finish fourth this season. But they should be doing a lot better in the league. Kenny Dalglish could win two cups and still be under pressure this summer".
I agree with this - league form is all important, and if Liverpool finish 7th or worse this season then Dalglish's job *should* be under threat, even if the FA Cup is secured. It would be a shame but Liverpool have been a cup team for 22 years now, and things need to change.
Having said that, it will be fantastic to win the FA Cup, a trophy that still retains its prestige, and if Dalglish can achieve that, I will be the first to congratulate him.

Ok.... I finally concede defeat. After months of reading your negative comments I finally cave in and respond. Are you actually a Liverpool supporter?! All your posts are negative!!! Always!!!! If this negativity is all you have I suggest you go support City. Your life must suck if you have nothing better to do than rehash negative dribble about the club you 'support'. I've had enough of reading your supposed arguments. You are just a troll. U won't be getting any more attention from me!
ReplyDeleteno i dont agree, kenny needs time
ReplyDeleteI think we as fans owe it to Kenny to give him until Christmas at least. Because the fans demanded his return (although not too many will stand up and admit it now) He put his reputation on the line and deserves another chance to fix it.
ReplyDeleteSure the summer buys were disappointing, but this time Kenny has had a full season to monitor different players so he might just get some good ones.
In much less time Antonio Conte is bringing Juventus to a league title, so did Guardiola. I thought Kenny needed time too, but all I feel now is that more time will just destroy our club more and more.
ReplyDeleteI agree, the league have been the priority for us this season, finishing 4th and kenny failed on that, had we lost the carling cup final we wouldnt be playing even on europa league next year how tragic is that? Im tired of saying but i wont stop until kenny leaves, and im living in hope that fsg will do that, maybe they didnt do it until now cuz they waiting to see whats happens in cup final whether we win it or not, im sure they'd sack kenny now if we wouldnt been there, i hope thats the idea if not im afraid we gon be in trouble, I was talking with some friends before the start of season and everyone made a prediction on where we gonna finish and I remember i said 6th, everybody went nuts but it turned to be even worse than that, and weeks ago i made a promise to myself that if kenny doesnt leave and his flops id stop supporting lfc and football as well because i think this is too much, 23 years without a league trophy that says it all ,we ve been too loyal cant be more than that its the limit, time for a big positive change or goodbye!
ReplyDeleteYou know Jaimie with some of the stuff you have been writing over the past month, you are starting to get on my tits. You have knocked just about everybody and everything to do with the club. You have had ago at Suarez, Dalglish, the summer signings, Carroll and the owners.I would suggest you try to be just a little bit more positive in some of your comments, or go and write about another club and give us all a break.
ReplyDeletey dont u write something positive like gerrard interview on the Late Late show. guess you havent been able to spot anything negative on what he said in the 15mins chat!lol indeed gerrard was superb with every answer he gave.. like how difficult it was he first received the armband and his frienship with sami hyypia. y dont you write an article on how exemplary the liverpool captain is. of course you wont coz you are a negative person
ReplyDeletei think his job should be under threat as he has failed in the prem he failed with carol where should ave played him more from start of games and use wingers to put the ball in where he can do the damage wheres maxi this season was great player last season instead we play downing who hasent turned up for games
ReplyDeleteGoodbye then, go and follow the Man City.
ReplyDeleteI didnt know ur a blind person sorry, how can you wright btw? didnt you see when i said "id stop supporting lfc AND FOOTBALL" so that means i wont watch football anymore and wont support another club, stupid.

Maybe when something positive happens he'll be able to write about it, but until then what else is there to write about other than the managers tactical and substituting decisions, the approach of the owners and the ever present inability of the Liverpool players to put away all the chances that they create.
ReplyDeleteWe're in the sad situation now where I'm seriously doubting Liverpool's ability to be Norwich, if someone had said to me at the start of the season that I'd be dreading going to Norwich I'd have laughed in their face, but the league campaign has just been that poor.
The carling cup and the Fa cup dont lie either.
ReplyDeleteTo clarify, I have nothing against the owners, just that they were the ones pulling the purse strings and paid a lot of money and got very poor value for it. Maybe they just got bad advice since they've not been involved in football all that long, maybe things will get better but, ultimately, they are the ones who have to sign off the payments.
ReplyDeleteAgreed!
ReplyDeleteIf you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen! Be realistic man!
ReplyDeleteKinda covering ur bases there. He should be under threat of losing his job but you will be the first to congratulate him. With fans like that you really would let him walk alone. The league is now meaningless. 5th, 6th, 10th is like swapping deckchairs on the titanic. I don't like the situation but its reality. A year or even three years from now you will not remember our league position but you just might remember or moment of glory at wembley. We can use the rest of the season to try out players and concentrate on the top four next season and give kenny some well deserved support. He has done a thing or two for us over the years and has earned that respect and support.
ReplyDeleteHow so many people forget so quickly. Don't you recall when Woy was in charge and we where down a few points of relegation, at home games around the whole ground the Name Dalgish was chanted, the kop called his name over and over again. The owners sacked Woy and called for Dalglish, it was what the fans wanted and Dalgish answered the call. When he took over we where down on our knees, he took us from relegation candidates to 7th place. If you recall the stats said that if the results that Dalglish achieved had been from the begining of the season we would have been 2nd in the table. The fans urged the owners to give the job to Kenny, why wait we said, he has earned it. Owners listened to us and gave him the job. In his first full season in charge Dalglish has won us our first silverware in six long years, and has taken us back to the FA Cup final. He knew we where not good enough to achieve in the league, so went for what we could achieve. The main problem when a club has a Director of Football as well as a manager as we did, we just don't know who made the decisions to buy the players last summer. Was it Dalglish or The Director of Football? Was it Dalglish who decided to buy Carroll, I don't think it was, he hadn't been there that long. So was Carroll forced on Dalglish? Just who was responsible for buying Adam, Henderson and Downing, the owners came over and sacked The Director of Football so I presume they blamed him, not Dalglish. I think we should give Kenny our full backing, let him and him alone buy the next set of players we so urgently need. Then we can judge him. There are two other points to make, our results started to drop when we lost Lucas FACT! If Carroll had performed to the level we expected and had scored 20 odd goals, we would be fighting for that 4th place FACT! So lets get behind our manager, after all it was us who wanted him back!
ReplyDeleteKenny needs to get back on his cruise, out of touch, no plan, rose tinted "golden age" fanatics need to grow some balls, face facts or shut up. No one comes before the club, nobody. ...Kenny Worshipping whoppers
ReplyDeleteif it was woy in charge right now would the fans be supporting him like they are with dalglish i dont think so i like dalglish he has done a great but i think we nead a another manager to take us forward
ReplyDeleteWhat will it take for you to see that time is going to nothing but worsen the situation im sure you thought hodgson also needed time we have spent 100+mill on signings yet we could finish in the bottom half of the table I know lets through another 100mill at it and hope we finish in the top half as that will be progress right
ReplyDeleteIf that was the case he would stop being so presistent with players that have no ability to perform hes left maxi out for more than half the season and yet he still as more goals and assists in the league than downing kenny is too proud and hje will do whatever it takes to show everyone that the players that we have signined are quality so what makes you think that the man who said 'it will take one hell of a player to come in and do a better job' will see that the players that he bought are hopless you my friend are truelly deluded
ReplyDeleteYou might aswell stop then because being a football fan means more than just supporting your team when there winning it means supporting them when there losing so if you didn't no that that then LFC dont need you take up another support
ReplyDeleteIf Liverpool were even in the championship or lower real fans would never stop supporting them, real fans would support them even more to help them.
ReplyDeleteNo they don't just ask birmingham whether they wanted to stay in the prem without the league cup or get relegated with it ...... EXACTLY with fans like you you waould be happy to win the double and get relegated
ReplyDeletegaurdiola had the players and the money liverpool has 5 player which would get into most teams in the world and they are reina agger lucas gerrard and suarez and at no point this season they all played together
ReplyDeleteIf you take away your if's and but's you have nothing you talk about *FACTS* then you should know kenny has admitted to sigining every player comolli's job was to do the negotiations go and get your *FACTS* sorted out and you might wanted to take off those red tinted glasses as they appear to be blinding you
ReplyDeleteGo support another club you Gob$site!
ReplyDeleteIf it was still woy he would have been assainated daglish should be honoruble and step down after the FA CUP final
ReplyDeleteIf Roy done everything Kenny has done for Liverpool then yes they would.
ReplyDeleteI can guarantee if you gave Birmingham City the choice of Premier League survival or the Carling Cup they'd take 17th place in the league every day of the week, that's how little real value that competition has now.
ReplyDeleteWerner said in the April 13 interview w/ the official website (http://bit.ly/Jhn4hw):
ReplyDeleteLFC.tv: Does Damien Comolli's departure have any impact upon Kenny Dalglish's position as manager?TW: Absolutely not. We've got great confidence in Kenny. We feel the team is going to make strides in the future and he enjoys our full support.--So, unfortunately, it does not look like Dalglish's position is going to be under any threat.
Why am I deluded? Because I have the patience to give a man more than one season in charge? I dont necessarily believe KK is the solution to the reds problems but since we brought him in he deserves the chance to fix whats wrong.
ReplyDeleteI think the reason he has chosen not to play maxi is that he is not in the plans for the future and not playing CHAD isn't going to get them playing well. Managers are obviously going to say things like that to defend their players. I highly doubt he believes it himself!
Oh and going by your impatient logic Ferguson would have been sacked in his first year.....Maybe not such a bad thing I guess!
Werner in the April 13 interview w/ LFC.tv:
ReplyDeleteLFC.tv: Does Damien Comolli's departure have any impact upon Kenny Dalglish's position as manager?
Werner: Absolutely not. We've got great confidence in Kenny. We feel the team is going to make strides in the future and he enjoys our full support.

So, unfortunately, it does not look like Dalglish's position is going to be under any threat.
I dont have any such glasses. However it is a fact that if you compare the points return when Lucas was playing and the return since his injury you will in FACT have to agree. As for Carroll, if you pay £35mil for a striker, I think it is fair to expect a return of 20 goals. Had he achieved this it is a FACT we would be up there fighting for 4th spot. As Dalglish had only been back as manager for a matter of weeks, I don't believe he had anything to do with buying Carroll. Why then did the owners come over and sack Comolli and not Dalglish.
ReplyDeleteGive Kenny until the end of the season and then sack him to save Liverpool from further deterioration and before it's too late to catch up with the top four and lose all appeals to decent players to come.As it is, other teams with just a fraction of our budget and poorer squads are performing much better than us.We are talking about teams in the lower half come to Anfield and beat us nice and proper. We should be saving the Club and not Kenny!
ReplyDeleteBayrern had Robben and Ribbery and we have DOWNING - Can u believe that ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
ReplyDeleteAre you Kenny's daughter?
ReplyDeletetrutherts
ReplyDeletefans like me are winners, we exist t6o win trophies, if spurs finniish out of the cl places who will have had the better season, fans like me have forgotton more than so called fans like you will ever know.
Oh they will not like it if we win the fa cup - I will be standing on queens drive while a half a million scousers welcome home the two cups, eat your heats out losers.
ReplyDeleteas for roy, west brom won at anfield playing crap defensive football, they can keep it and roy, they will have it every week. we are the only team in history who has not won a single point all season that we did not merit.
ReplyDeleteFACT is that Kenny has come out publicly and stated that ALL the players signed since he took over were HIS SIGNINGS. Nothing was forced on him. If anything he forced his will on others.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.thisisanfield.com/2012/04/dalglish-signings-have-been-my-choice/
ReplyDeleteFollowing the news that Damien Comolli is to leave his role as director of football strategy at Liverpool FC, manager Kenny Dalglish has told the media that all signings since he arrived at the Club have been his choice – not Comolli’s.
ReplyDeleteMuch speculation has surrounded the signings of the likes of Stewart Downing, Jordan Henderson and Andy Carroll.
Each of these players appear to have been signed with the ‘moneyball’ strategy in mind – something which Comolli was an advocate of and was appointed to carry out at LFC – but when Dalglish arrived he sought to bring a British core to the squad.
Dalglish said on Thursday morning “Everyone who has come into the club since Damien has been here was of my choice.”
Jamie I am Astounded you claim to be a fan of Liverpool football club
ReplyDelete1st is 1st , second is nowhere .
Fourth ? Same as 17 th : equally nowhere
Give me two cup wins against 4 th anyday .
The only people who are complaining are the people who support LFC by watching it on the telly or the Internet
Supporters who go know how good it feels to be there , when OUR team lift the trophy .There the days you remember for the rest of your life
PLAYING in the champions league isn't success .
Dalglish didn't buy Carroll . The board didn't give the caretaker manger 35M to buy Carroll now did they . Get real
Downing and Henderson were bought by camolli DVD style " the money ball " system of stats .
But Henderson will come good .
18 months ago we were close to being like Rangers FC
Now , here we are talking about throwing 100 million away !
Guys , it's NOT your money . Stop worrying about it !
Camolli made the signings then was sacked
Fenway will Rightly back Dalglish . no doubt about that .
We are not far away from being a great team .
Just need to start scoring
Ps when we win the cup next week wonder how many
Of you are going to be there ?
Jamie ?
If you believe in something strongly you should stick to your principles. A man who supports something or has a faith that he doesn't fully believe in is a fool.
ReplyDeleteVote with your feet.
Kenny is the first to say there is no one bigger than LFC. I say PROVE it.....
When there is once again an equilibrium between supporting and apposing fans will put LFC over the individual. Until then, fans who can't see past their own nose will try to dictate the definition of supporting even if it takes us backwards.
I can because we haven't had a quality wide player/winger since McManaman and that was ages ago. So mediocre wingers are the norm these days for us.
ReplyDeleteIt would be impatient but if you remember correctly in fergusons first FULL season as united coach they finished 2nd I don't know how that compares to the fact that we are currently lying 8th in the table if you think that is good then go and support everton I don't know who has more shit in there eyes you or dalglish
ReplyDeletetalking to you is like talking to a brick wall how is it a fact that if lucas wasn't injured we would be higher up the table yeah we are better with him that doesn't mean anything CARROL HAS NOT SCORED 20 GOALS so it is not a *FACT* that we would be fighting for 4th based on your logic If we signed ronaldo and messi we would have won the league FACT you sound idiotic with theorys like that stick to talking nonsence in the pub its really not wanted here *FACT*
ReplyDeleteI wonder how many ways there are to write the same article?
ReplyDeleteTalk about recycling. How eco-friendly is this re-re-re-re-re-recycled codswallop then.
Then they finished 11th, 13th and 11th.
ReplyDeleteWhat's your point? Only the first season counts?
I think kenny has done ok for us so far,ik we have'nt won what we wanted but look at it this way at least we have one cup and fingers crossed we get the FA cup, only time will tell!and tbh the players are getting that much money some don't care if we win or not as long as there wages are there at the end of the week/month.They need to work harder and have the passion to win, last season was'nt good, but i do understand where most of use are coming from it is frustrating for us all,i have suported liverpool from the day i was born as my parents have always been suporters,we need to suport liverpool not slate them come on lads think possitive.
ReplyDeleteomg then we might end up 12th, 14th, 12th next three seasons if kenny still in charge. omg. omg. omg.
ReplyDelete
