Exciting €22m midfield star admits: "I've had contact with Liverpool". Bid...?

Toulouse midfielder Moussa Sissoko has been linked with Liverpool several times over the last year, and on Friday evening, the energetic midfielder confirmed that he'd been in contact with Liverpool over a possible summer move.

In July 2011, Sissoko revealed that he was flattered to be linked with Liverpool, and last month, Sissoko's representative Bakary Sanogo confirmed that he'd received 'interesting offers' for the player from 'Spain, Germany and England'

Speaking to reporters after Toulouse's defeat to Montpellier on Friday evening, the 18m-rated box-to-box midfielder said:

"I've had contact with English clubs, notably Liverpool, but I preferred to commit myself to Toulouse, the club where I have been educated, to get more experience"

Liverpool arguably need a top quality, strong, athletic central midfielder, and Sissoko seems to fit the bill.

* At the age of 22, he fits Liverpool's transfer policy.

* He plays for a club that's not in the Champions League, which should make him a more realistic target.

* Liverpool lack real strength and athleticism in midfield.

* Lucas will need time to bed into the team again, and another season with the likes of Spearing, Henderson and Adam as back-up doesn't sound appealing.

Clearly, he's worth a bid.

  4. yeah but depends whos in charge I beileve that if daglish is given another seaon then these are the type of players that we will not be going for

  5. sissoko/javi martinez and garston ramirez and munian/liorente would do for me kennys had 40m net. in3 windows and owners want top4 20m is not enough

  6. that's right. we will be looking at the likes of roger johnson to replace carra, kyle lafferty up front and charlie adam as our midfield playmaker.of course i joke, dire,sh*tty dross, like that would never cross the anfield entrance........what?.....charlie adam?.............

  7. No not good enough and is an attacking midfielder which we have plenty of! We need a Xabi Alonso type playmaker in the middle that sits and occassionally gets forward! In my opinion we should get kevin Strootman from PSV who would fill that Xabi Alonso roll perfectly as he is central midfielder that is clinical with his passing and scores goals too! He will be a world class player in a few years and if liverpool don't act they will lose him to utd, just like they lost marin today to chelsea! Gaston Ramirez has also been linked but is again not the player we need and would again be a massive financial gamble to take as his stats don't really show he is that good! Munian would be a better signing as i can see him going down the same path as david silva and eventually playing in that hole!

                                 Reina
    Johnson       Agger            Skrtel      Enrique

    Downing  Strootman(15m) Lucas      Munian (20m)

                                   Gerrard

                                   Suarez

  8. the only way those type of players will end up at ours is by playing 'football manager 2012'. rangers will have a few going cheap this summer...kd...fill yer boots( just remember to pay the tax).

  9. Brilliant centre mid, exactly what we need, he would make the difference against teams with strong centers like Spurs, Man City, Arsenal and Newcastle. He is very quick and althletic but at the same time has good technique and has great vision. He will need convincing to leave Toulouse but we could get him for £15m I would be happy, he is still young and could become a great player but is already a captain and very confident in his own ability.

  10. amazing you keep downing but get rid of henderson

  11. Downing is a winger and Henderson is a central midfielder! I would like to add that rotation is very important if liverpool want to be successful so others would of course would be rotated but in my opinion this is the best starting line up they could have!

  12. I always thought that if Xabi left, then pirlo would be the ideal replacement. why didn't we go for him ?

  13. JK, we have been linked to Gaston Ramirez the past few days. Can you provide your take on that transfer? I mean, I am not overly impressed and I thought we could have got Marin for less (than 16m pds that is touted as Ramirez's price).

As for Moussa Sissoko - he is an upgrade on Spearing and we should then play Lucas and Sissoko in midfield. Like the second half of last season.

  14. ^ cos he is about 40 now num nuts

  15. Henderson has potential. Better than Adam. He just needs to sort his head out. Fortunately Hendo's problems are the type that you often grow out of (Lucas style).

  16. I think, brilliant as he is, he is a player suited very much to Italy. You'd have to play him in a 5 man midfield and with a lot of protection (like he enjoyed from Gattuso at Milan) or he'd end up like Veron at Man U- great player but not best suited to the Prem.

Also, he is old and has high wages.

  17. Does he worth that 22 mil???? I don't think so

  18. Sissoko or Javi Martinez would be great, to rotate or play alongside Lucas. No preference for either, but we definitely need one of them, or M'Vila.

  19. You got it in one! Over-hyped on the price is this one. A much cheaper ( under£9M) is Boudebouz. He completes an attacking wing/striker position.

  20. henderson playing much better now he's playing more central. has bags of potential. him, lucas, sissoko and shelvey could be the future.

  21. altho that team looks really appealing and I would love to have a starting 11 like that, i dont think kenny would ever play a team with so few enlglishmen fielded.... as much as it annoys me, i reckon we'l still be made to suffer with spearing, shelvey, henderson and adam, and out of these midfielders, there is absolutely no creativity or skill whatsoever...... :( i just hope that REAL quality is bought this summer, and not these overrated muppets that were bought las summer...... i also think he knows himself that he needs to get these transfer targets 100% right this time and i just hope that he goes foreign and doesnt start shoppin in the EPL eg swansea, norwich, blackburn, aston villa - or else we're gonna end up like one of these teams due to buying these types of players.....

  22. Yes ryad boudebouz would be a great pick up at the price but is a different kind of player to sissoko ,who is overpriced.

  23. Hi people this is my first post on here. I just came across this player and thinking what do you guys think.

Miralem pjanic aged 22 playing for as roma. attacking midfielder.

here is a youtube link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07vfIQg4SJY&feature=fvwrel fits the transfer policy and I think he has a lot of attributes which currently our midfield lacks. 15 million is a good bid

  24. if that is the best of him then leave him where he is. i would prefer to bring back aqua than him. his first touch is awful he is poor with the ball at his feet and his shooting is under 8's level

  25. gotta be javi martinez to play along side lucas in a 4-2-3-1 he's solid but can pass the ball as well which is what we need. a right winger and a genuine goal scorer as well and we should be fine. while downing, adam, henderson carroll etc have been massively disappointing i feel they will come good next season. i dont think they should be in the first team but they could certainly provide options from the bench.we need a strong squad to get back into the top 4

    ReplyDelete
  26. lol i was just thinking that..the video didnt show him in a good light at all!

    ReplyDelete
  27.  That would be fantastic, the whole team would have skill and ability the way it should be without Henderson Carroll Adam etc

    ReplyDelete
  28. I think you may have got this wrong! Etiene Capoue a very talented midfielder who plays alongside Sissoko may be the target. Personally I feel he's a better player. Like Lucas but more athletic. Reminds me of Yann M'Vila.

Also Henderson has been playing well in centre mid and we now keep hold of the ball a lot better with him in there. 21 years old and getting better! He's better than Lucas at the same age (remember you where all saying the same things about Lucas? Funny that!!!)

    ReplyDelete
  29. shelvey, hendo, and lucas that will be a quality central midfield trio imo

    ReplyDelete
  30. toyally agree but Spearing is a championship player and we need better quality to play with and back up Lucas! Etienne Capoue for me is that player.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Absolutely worth.

  32. Don't forget rumours have it Kenny will get a transfer chest of £20m this summer, and with Sissoko priced at £18m it's highly unlikely Kenny will splash the cash when what we desperately need is a striker that score goals. And to anyone tempted to think "oh well we'll just sell Andy Carroll and use that money for a new striker" forget about it! With Andy's form this season nobody will be interested in buying him off us considering his wage, and the price we would demand. And if you still think that will be the case, it's not even worth selling Andy for scraps. I would rather keep him then letting him go for anything below £15m and not even that is enough.

Maxi, Kuyt, Aurelio, and Doni will most likely move on, getting a replacement for these positions is also more important then another central midfielder. Jones, Stearling and Robinson CAN cover up, but it's not adequate. A central midfielder is actually the least of our problems!

  33. I actually think Shelvey has loads of potential and will be a very good player. Had you seen him play at Blackpool? Plus, in a midfield that has been lacking this season, whenever Shelvey plays he has that spark that we need.

    ReplyDelete
  34. that's more like it!  fingers crossed we can off load the players on loan this season to free up the wage bill..... So many bridges to cross before we can buy these type of players.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Another season with Adam would sound appalling

    ReplyDelete
  36. you hypocrate dont know what liverpool is ..do you?Shelvey...cmon man he is just another average [layer.championship quality

    ReplyDelete
  37. exactly the player we need he is patrick vierea in the making. having set that, 18 mil for a defensive player who mightnt make sounds a tad overpriced.

    ReplyDelete
  38. sorry to say but that is complete rubbish. after watching our performances this season, especially the fa cup final, we are in desperate need of a combative midfielder someone who can get up and down the pitch. I can understand our desperate need for a goal poacher too, but this one-or-the-other idea is a false choice we should go for both. dont forget, there will probably be an exodus from anfield this summer which should raise at least 10m; as for the 18m sissoko price tag, surely we can negotiate that down? come the summer he'll have less than a year left on his contract (which runs till 30.06.2013 according to transfermarket.com)
