Everton's players are in despair after losing at Wembley today in the FA Cup semi-final against Liverpool. Kenny Dalglish's team showed great fight and determination to come back from a goal down and win the match, and afterwards, several of Everton's crestfallen players took to Twitter to express their sadness at (deservedly) being dumped out of the cup.
Tim Cahill
"Heartbroken and so sad we couldnt win today. We win together and we lose together. Thanks for the support it was amazing".
Sylvain Distin
"I cost my team mates, the staff, the club and a the fan a place in FA cup final. Nothing more to say but SORRY all of you"
Phil Neville
"Devastated with the result we didn't play 2nd half needed the 2 goal when we were on top-thanks for the amazing support we will be back! As a team we win and lose together we all take responsibility it's all our fault it's what makes Everton special"
John Heitinga
"I am really sad we couldn't give the final of the #facup to the best fans of the world. Proud to be a #Everton player! Support was great"
Steven Pienaar
"Gutted. Well that's footy for you"

Well we shouldn't gloat should we ??? Oh go on then ! Ha ha
ReplyDeletePHN. That's what makes Everton special. What's special about Everton and the great mngr they have. Ten yrs in charge, won f*** all yet somehow he's hailed as great mngr and Everton is special. SPECIAL MY ARSE.
ReplyDeleteThey had one (offside) chance we gifted them. I'm gutted we didn't beat them 4.1
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHAHAHAHA WHO CARE'S UNDER DOGS
ReplyDeleteI don't often disagree agree with you but here I do; look at the money Moyes has spent compared to Houllier/Benitez/Dalglish - it's a pittance, and he's worked wonders there.
ReplyDeleteEvery team has a ceiling of achievement commensurate with their finances, and Everton regularly reach theirs, and often break through it.
This is definitely the most important thing to focus on after Liverpool have reached the FA Cup Final. Well done
ReplyDeleteWhen your manager tells you to sit back and hold on to the 1-0 then you know you're on to a loser. Liverpool had a poor first half and if Everton had the balls they could have come out in the second half and got a second goal. But the difference between the managers is that Moyes lost his bottle while Kenny kept the faith and kept his team pushing until the final whistle.
ReplyDeletewe beat the bluenoses even with bandy Camel... Suarez is world class.. ynwa
ReplyDeletePortsmouth, Leicester, Middlesbrough, Birmingham & Blackburn Rovers have all won a major trophy since Everton last did.
ReplyDeleteEverton will have outspent them by millions in the past decade and have NOTHING to show for it.
If Suarez didn't equalize the goal Everton would have won. LFC play like kid before that. Thanks to Suarez
ReplyDeletewhen you walk through a storm, hold your head up high...and cry your little bluenose hearts out!!!! lol
ReplyDeleteKanwar taking the bitter's side again. Claiming we've had all the money etc etc. That's exactly what the bitters defence has been over the last 50 years or so. He isn't old enough to have suffered the brickbats that I used to get when we were 2nd div and the bitters were 1st. Bloody hell, they gave us a hard time. We didn't have enough shillings to smack our arses with but we never whinged about it or used it as an excuse for inferiority.
ReplyDeleteYou. Kanwar, are a plastic Scouser.
Rocky start, but managed to pull our heads out of the sand to win the game. Credit to our forwards, Suarez and Carroll for making the best of the 90min. Hoping for a Liverpool v. Chelski final, but whoever it may be best prepare themselves for a side who've clawed their way through the worst of times to reach yet another final at Wembley. YNWA!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCARROLL TO THE RESCUE!!
ReplyDeleteI thought some of our players had a good game today. It was interesting to hear the commentators mentioning speculation regarding the owners asking Dalglish why Rodriguez plays so little. Credit to Everton for giving us a good game. I was surprised they were sitting back after their goal. You'dhave thought they would attack us because we looked vulnerable down our left. Chelsea or Spurs next, either way it will be a difficult game!
ReplyDeleteWell to be fair to Everton, they were pretty poor, not nearly as good as they were in the two games against Sunderland. Bad time to have a bit of a slump but that's football for you.
ReplyDeleteWhere are those teams now? Blackburn will soon be joining them. Well done to Everton for the work they are doing.
ReplyDeleteFor the final I hope Kenny won't select the team based on emotion and ego.First of all, drop Carra coz it's so obvious time and time again this season he'd cost the team a goal or two everytime he played.Secondly, leave out Henderson as he's good for nothing. These are my 2 wishes for the final.
ReplyDeletebe magnanamous thats what seperates us.
ReplyDeletenow can we have the bitter everton fans tweets!!!! lol
ReplyDeletegood game played well first 10 mins and second half.
almost cost us playing the back 4 as we did, and god only knows why kenny persists with henderson, offers nothing in defence and nothing going forward, non existant through the game, maxi or kuyt must think wat hope have they got to do!!
great result
besides my spelling.
ReplyDeleteI like Henderson, admittadly, he doesn't have anything very special in his locker at the moment but he's got a good all round game and still young and learning - he's played at right back, left midfield, right midfield and in the centre this season - i think that's testament to his potential. In a few years time i'm confident he will be a very effective player and worth a lot more than what we paid for him
ReplyDeletehaving said that i agree he shouldn't be playing every game
ReplyDeleteIt depends what the clubs expectations are. If it's to avoid relegation and have the odd Champions League tilt and cup run then Moyes is living the dream. If it's to win trophies then he simply hasn't delivered. Kendal,Walker, Royle ,Smith have all been shown the door since Everton were last movers and shakers yet this guy keeps his job
ReplyDeletewell, someone had to win it, bad luck Everton, don't know what happened to you second half. Enrique, Kuyt and Bellers should have started, would have won more comfortably, still Kenny has to do it the hard way! Glad we made it though.
ReplyDeletethis semi should have been at OT
ReplyDeletebut at last the Bluenoses have had their trip to Wembley
now bring on the final
double trophy season woohooo
Jamie...you are truly stupid! You justify everything except in Liverpool's favour! Hahahaha
ReplyDeletecarroll could of got a hat-trick but overall im happy with his performance
ReplyDeleteThey've got a massive inferiority complex. Everything around that club is geared around sticking one to Liverpool rather than actually achievements. Kenwright was actually in tears BEFORE the game. If they had treated this as an important match rather than some celebrity filled milestone event they might not have frozen like they did. Losers in every sense of the word.
ReplyDeleteI hope he stays there for another 10 yrs. at the people's club. I'm not sure how much money did he spend cos I don't really care. I think Fellaini cost some 15 million, Johnson about 10 million , Yakubu 12 million just few I can remember but the point is Jamie that u have smaller clubs who won cups here and there and Everton won shit. Under him Everton Fc have become home of retirement for MU players. R Benitez might have spend money but lots of his players were sold for lots of profit and he also made the club lots of money from CHL. And he also won the FIFTH EUROPEAN CUPwhich is PRICELESS.

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. Evading giving credit when credit's due is one of the worst qualities of a person.
ReplyDeleteTaking a while to gather your thoughts Jamie... ?
ReplyDeleteSuppose the article you had prepared for another 'humiliating defeat' can always be copied, pasted and posted at a later date.
Alot of familar doom and gloomers and 'Sack Kenny Brigade' conspicuous by there absence too..
Roll on the final .. YNWA
I agree with JK that Everton is a well-managed football club, both in terms of results and finance. David Moyes has consistently made Everton a top ten club in the premier league despite it's budget. He is a great manager, IMO.
ReplyDeleteHaha :-) Made me chuckle, I must admit.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good win in a competition that actually means something, so I'm happy with that.
It doesn't make any difference to anything else though; the terrible league form and everything else that's gone on doesn't just vanish. The issues still exist, and winning cups doesn't change that. KD still needs to step down in the summer, and the club needs to go in a different direction.
That's my view, and if you don't like it, then in the words of Audrey II: tough titty.
What was Fellaini looking for when Carroll heads it in?
ReplyDeleteHe was still looking around even after the ball was in the back of the net!
Just how exactly can u give credit to someone who won nothing in his footballing career. Another one who gets lot of credit for not doing much in football is H Redknap just cos he has lots of friends in the London press. GREAT MAMAGERS read BILL SHANKLY, BOB PAISLEY and hate to say it A MC TAGGART.
ReplyDeleteCareer? What have careers to do with this? They gave their best efforts in a football match, that's totally enough to deserve credit on this day.
ReplyDeleteWould be better if your comment didn't sound so bitter - that's just another example of evading giving credit.
Sorry mate but did you not read jamie's original post i think you will find some praise there.....That aside great day for us all..... YWNA.
ReplyDeleteI did give credit to the man who deserves it. And he manages the club I hate the most MU. By career I meant managerial career.
ReplyDeleteBandy camel ha ha like it....But fair play to him he did get the winner and got the winner against blackburn too
ReplyDeletelol glad someone else noticed, looked well funny.
ReplyDeletestupid hair in the way i expect!!
makes keegans hair in his day look grade 2!!
Yep remember lucas eh.... Patience is a virtue
ReplyDeleteSomebody hack into your a/c ?? :-) JK is actually happy with something.. lol
ReplyDeleteListen I know things haven't been great and for most part it's been a season to forget.
But the cup competitions have offered us some solace and we need to take that enjoy the moments they give us and move on.
I'm just not sure what direction you want us to move in..??
Your mission statement for your website Jaimie speaks about defending Liverpools 'old school' values, the shankly philosophy and the 'Liverpool way'.
Which is why I'm always perplexed by your opinions on most things LFC..
We have a manager better versed than any in all of the above and who is trying to re-instill them back into the club..
I'm not suggesting he be given infinite time but I do think more time should be afforded to Kenny to try to get us back to where we once were...
If Kenny goes.. What direction would you have us go in.. and at what cost to the LFC way and Shanklys philosophy ??
As great as the guy is (as his comments re Carroll prove), Carra needs to make way for Kelly/Enrique. Henderson and Downing were ineffective as usual. I would much rather see Maxi and Kuyt in. EFC were beaten fair and square, they failed to capitalize on our poor first half. Yes, Suarez goal was via a defense mistake (as was EFC's!) but it is great to see Andy Carroll give 100% for 90+ mins despite the criticism and scrutiny and - for the second game in a row - provide the winning goal in the dying minutes.
ReplyDeleteYes, also if Carroll hadn't got the second goal it would have been a 1-1 draw. And if Everton hadn't scored the first goal we would have won 2-0!! Amazing!!
ReplyDeletePompey? Are you sure about that? How did they get so broke, then? Do you remember some of the players Portsmouth had?
ReplyDeleteThat's because the job he has done working under a theatre manager has been outstanding.
ReplyDeleteDon't be so childish!
ReplyDeleteYes, strange choice of defensive line up, considering our best back four was available. Strange time to keep Enrique on the bench.
ReplyDeleteI said it before, before the apologists say that some of us are doing a 360, our players were up for it today, and i thought that form would go out of the window. Glad it did. Does it make the rest of the season great, though? No it doesn't. Happy this evening, though, probably more so because of what we have been witnessing for the last few weeks. What we need is more of those performances on a regular basis, anything wrong with wanting that?
It doesn't matter what kind of career you mean - careers have nothing to do with players giving their all in a match and deserving credit for that.
ReplyDeleteCarling cup semi final Kenny Dalglish told his players to hold on to the 0-1 against City. Kenny Dalglish is a loser then.
ReplyDeleteAt the end of the day we won and deserved it.... And to quote the words of a certain Mr Martin Broughton who oversaw our sale (a chelsea fan to boot) ''KEEP THE FAITH''....I also see many people criticising the buying british policy...Well given the fact that before long the prem teams playing in europe has to have a quota of home grown players maybe just maybe we could have a head start once it kicks in....Ok lucas isn't british but the lad came good this is just an example...we are in transition at the mo so watch this space and ''KEEP THE FAITH'' and dont forget the bigger picture we are a work in progress
ReplyDeleteJamie's reply to my comment was about D Moyes. So I don't what r u going on about giving credit to Everton players. Just why would I give credit to players of other teams who were trying to beat the team I support.
ReplyDeleteExactly
ReplyDeleteWell said, Kenny is a direct link to Shankly through Paisley and Fagan
Certainly not.. isn't that what we all want..
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with wanting to keep the faith either though
LOL i got a txt off one of my mates after the game that said '' carrol has got nice hair''...Maybe him and fallaini were having a secret battle of the hairdos
ReplyDeleteDistinct lack of the naysayers on here this evening..... HAAAA!!!!
ReplyDeletePersonally, I have a great respect for the work Moyes has done at Everton in very financially constrained circumstances, they just didn't back themselves today in the 2nd half
We were good, Carroll never gave up
I agree. If he plays Carrager in the final were in trouble cos Chavs or Spurs whoever we get are better team than Everton. For some strange reasons I want to b the Chavs.
ReplyDeleteJaimie
ReplyDeleteA poser for you.....
Net spend equals investment from the board on transfers
So that means Rafa's £63 million net spend equates to a mere £10.5 million per season investment from board, which is slightly more than Gerrard's yearly salary - nothing spectacular really!!!
This surely means that the true outlay on transfers is actually quite small when compared to overall income
Apart from Chelsea and Man City mega splurging, the true measure of spending and investment is the wage bill
And our bill is and has been quite high I'm sure....
The only British player we should try and get in the summer is A Johnson ( MC).
ReplyDeleteMoi ?? LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm not the one throwing my toys out of the pram because things aren't going our way ..
Forgot your one of Jaimies little foot soilders ..lol
"Why would you give credit to opposing teams"? I really hope that was a joke. Otherwise, there is a significant mental and moral problem in your judgement.
ReplyDeletespecial needs.
ReplyDeletemartin broughton is a good guy regardless of the scrotes he supports. i criticise british policy because you need as much top talent regardless of nationality. charlie 'magical left foot, but ive not seen it' adam is the kind of british, and i very loosely use this term where he is concerned, talent, we do not need antwhere near our club. dire, dire, dire, dire, describes him. rumour has it, that the north korean rocket didn't launch due to a football landing on the launch pad. kenny collected adam to take him to sign his contract. i will personally drive him.......to north korea to collect his ball.
ReplyDeleteyes moyes has done well. now i have coughed that out, tough shite to the toffees...pogue mahon.
ReplyDeleteThey spent £45m in a couple of years on decent players like Defoe, Muntari, Kranjcar, Diarra, Johnson & James.
ReplyDeleteHelped them win the FA Cup.
Since then they have 'made' approx £65m in transfers, so even if they overspent they shouldn't be in the financial mess they are.
Like Liverpool found out to their cost, dodgy owners can drain money out of clubs in a myriad of ways that take years to uncover.
Really? How about the wages? And other players like Nugent and Utaka?
ReplyDeleteHaha, foot soldiers?
ReplyDeleteDidn't realise our season had been so great!! There's no toys, no pram, just 8th in the league, without having to worry about European football. That's not just 'not going our way', what happens when we can't get to two cup finals are we are still languishing?
Is it possible that more than a couple of supporters have come to the conclusion that we should be doing better in the league, without them starting a collective? What do you think?
No, of course not. I'd rather keep the faith also, but i will use my own eyes to convince me that things are going the right way. Once i close my eyes and hope, that is blind faith. Delighted that we won, but, overall, cup runs do not prove that we have a team that is good enough. I'm happy that Carroll is, at least, trying to look like a Liverpool player, hope some of the other signings will start doing the same for more than one game at a time.
ReplyDeleteBut i still worry when the team seems to be winning despite the manager's selections, rather than because of them.
Really? I don't think you are reading all the posts!
ReplyDeleteWhat is a naysayer, by the way, someone who thinks we should be higher than 8th in the league? You make it sound like it is a negative thing. Glad you are happy with 8th place, YAYSAYER!
OK mate point taken i have also been disapointed with adam but i do think the buy british policy in the long term along with one or two overseas players might benefit us in the long term as that is the way its going to be and the rules are going to be......We may be ahead of the game only time will tell watch this space and keep your glass at least half full at all times
ReplyDeleteI love this site, listen bollocks, you got it wrong, hang your head in shame for criticism that you make up just to get a reaction We are the kings of the world so stick that in your fuckin clever dick antoganisms and keep supporting man united
ReplyDeleteTell me ma me ma my fridge is really confused with all the wembley abuse tell me ma me ma.....COME ON FFS enjoy the momement
ReplyDeletemoment even come on lads we have had a good day enjoy
ReplyDeleteI've just been reading Everton fans saying it's not good enough not winning anything and David M is never going to win anything with negative tactics. I'm pretty sure they know more about their own club than the likes of you!
ReplyDeleteThe same BLIND FAITH that was shown in the Ataturk stadium at half time .. when we defined what the word 'supporter' ment..
ReplyDeleteI was there... No reason or logic in the world could explain that support.. You and JK and your cronies can throw all the stats and facts in the world at me.. All I know is that at the lowest and darkest time in my life as an LFC supporter(bar hillsborough) I found solace in our anthem, every word rang true.. and i truely believe that we as supporters at half time played our part in the greatest come back of all time..
Thats OUR job.. To support ..sometimes without good reason and logic..but to support none the less.. Doesn't mean we're blind to short commings.. I mean Jazus we were cream crackered by Milan in that 1st half but we showed that we were the best supporters in the world that night..
I was more proud to be a LFC supporter at half time than full time..
Guess thats the difference between some of us ..
Brian Clough,Jock Stein also GREAT MANAGERS
ReplyDeleteA Champions League final was the lowest time in your life as a fan of Liverpool??
ReplyDeleteduh obviously half time mate... Jeez louise
ReplyDeleteAnother cup game huh? I'm starting to see a pattern.
ReplyDeleteJust to recap, for Cup games blind faith is allowed as demonstrated against Alaves, West Ham and Ac Millan
In league games however as demonstrated by the past 20+ years realism is required.
I defy you to prove me wrong.....
Glad someone finally put an end to all of that!! Pretty much sums up the situation.
ReplyDelete
