With one of the lowest goalscoring records in the league, many fans were hoping that Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish would bring in a new striker during the January transfer window. Alas, as a result of Dalglish's pig-headed allegiance to Andy Carroll, this didn't happen, and the club went on to experience its worst run of league form for 60 years. Newcastle, however, *did* go out and sign a new striker, and they are now reaping the benefits.
Since arriving at Newcastle in a ridiculously cheap £9.5m deal, Papiss Cisse has grabbed ten goals and one assist in ten games, propelling Newcastle inexorably towards 4th place in the Premier League.
Anfield legend Alan Hansen is a big fan of Cisse, and speaking to the BBC earlier this week, he enthused:
"The arrival of Papiss Cisse from SC Freiburg in January...has given Newcastle a real lift. He is a really tasty player - he scores goals, has got great movement and the fact he is consistently putting the ball in the back of the net will give huge confidence to the rest of the team".
How did Liverpool miss out on this guy? What is going on with the scouting network?
Everton's Nikica Jelavic is another striker who was heavily linked with Liverpool in the January transfer window, but the club lost out again. Between them, Cisse and Jelavic have grabbed 15 goals and 3 assists since coming to the Premier League.
Thank god Liverpool didn't sign a striker in January, eh?

Hindsight is great...You really are mental.
ReplyDeleteWell, Comolli's gone, so I guess we know what was going on with the scouting network.
ReplyDeleteWhy are these pundits always droning on about why liverpool or united etc etc lost out on such and such a player. There's 20 teams in the premiership not 4 or 5, sickens me to listen to the same crap day after day week after week about poor liverpool or poor Arsenal, these clubs didnt care when every other club were starving and living off their scraps. But time is a great thing, and now its time that liverpool and the rest of them start to take notice of other clubs that are emerging i.e tottenham, newcastle, etc and that players are not only interested in joining clubs in england just because of their past. What counts is the future, and the futures bright for clubs that want these players.
ReplyDelete<<<<shakes head
ReplyDeletejelavic was linked with us last summer and in january.
ReplyDeletelooks a very good player.be surprised if he doesn't score at the wknd,in great form at the moment.
Wasn't it his allegiance to all the front 4 the reason why we never brought a forward not just Carroll?
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's anything to do with Pigheadedness from Dalglish. As disappointing as Andy Carroll has been for lfc so far, it would be a disaster if they parted company with him now simply because they would get a pittance for him, I'd say £4-5 million. Better to hold on to him in the hope that he will eventually improve and provide a return on their money than letting him go and kissing £30 mill goodbye, especially with financial fair play rules coming into effect. Also I think Liverpool fans would have turned their noses up at Cissé and Jelavic until recently because they had not proven themselves to be "Liverpool standard" (coming from Freiburg and Rangers respectively)
ReplyDeletewith what has happened with commoli getting the axe,it's conceivable that there was any money to spend in january as the owners didn't want to risk anymore poor players joining.
ReplyDeleteExactly, there's something very disrespectful about articles that ask "why is this player playing for that club?" The implication being that this player is too good for that club and should be playing for "our" club. It's very unsportsmanlike. I wouldn't mind if the author said something like "kudos to Everton and Newcastle for scouting and signing these gems - I wish they were playing for Liverpool"
ReplyDelete"As a result of Kenny's pig headed allegiance to Andy Carrol" - You always argue that comments should be made on factual evidence and not on assumption or hearsay. Yet in this article you use assumption yet again to put the boot into Kenny. How do you know we had any money to spend in January? How do you know Kenny was being pig headed? How do you know that Cisse was rated by any of our scouting team? The facts are we didn't sign anybody in January, and if I can make an assumption it was probably due to it being far too early in the Liverpool careers of the players signed only a few months before to be writing them off so quickly.
ReplyDeleteCisse was 8 million and has 10 goals and 1 assist in NINE games. Other than the lack of facts it's a decent article
ReplyDeleteAndy is better - just u wait
ReplyDeletePeople like you are why everyone hates liverpool. So up your own arse it's untrue. Were you ecstatic to sign Carroll when he was injured and had one season in the championship and half in the premier league? How had he proven to be liverpool standard? Henderson? Downing? Adam? Moron. Cissé has been banging the goals in in the Bundesliga better than 1 in 2. second only to Gomez at Bayern over the last couple years.
ReplyDeleteThere are plenty of strikers about Europe with great promise.
ReplyDeleteNobody knows if they will be a success here
Does Jaimie contend that Cisse would have scored same amount of goals if he had signed for Liverpool?
And just think the wad of dosh for the pony tailed donkey allowed us to pounce on said tasty striker cheers for that!!
ReplyDeleteIs there going to be a thread on here for every player that comes to England and does well. And make out that its Kennys fault he didnt buy them all!
ReplyDeleteim wating
ReplyDeleteCisse would have been a failure at LFC. Once he scores KD will bench or drop him for the next game.
ReplyDeletefor the cut down price we got Cisse for (8mil) they had to be desperate for cash up front which we had and all due to the fact the Carol deal was paid mainly upfront, great bit of buiness from Skinny Mike Ashley, really put us in a strong position for transfers and probly weakend a huge threat from Liverpool buy taking the cash up front as I understand they dont pay upfront anymore, ledgend.
ReplyDeleteCannot get over how deluded Liverpool fans are! Liverpool are no longer a big club. Trade on past glories all you want but it won't win titles and it won't sign players. When Suarez packs up and high-tails it to a racist safe-haven, and when Steven Gerrard retires at the ripe old age of 40 then you will slowly decline into the mire. Sad but true. As a Newcastle fan who took so much stick from Liverpool supporters whenever we went through rough times, I couldn't be more delighted :D
ReplyDeleteWhen Rooney signed for Man Utd as a teenager for £26m every man and his dog knew he was destined for great things. When Andy Carroll was signed by the King for £36m(i heard his agent on radio 5 say £36m)every man and his dog thought the decimal point had been missed out of the £35m.I find it unbelieavable that the 3 English players signed for £85m by the king and are supposed to be LFCs and Englands rising stars are 8/11 that all 3 miss out on euro 2012.what an absolute farce.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair to the lad, Carroll doesn't get treated all that favorably in terms of selection. He hasn't really had a proper run of games in the team alongside Suarez. Three is the highest number of consecutive games he has played for us in all competitions this season. Strange really, one buys a player for £35m and he is not given a proper run of games.
ReplyDeletetalking sense
ReplyDeleteandy carroll will be abeast of a striker again hes slowly but surely finding his feet at a big club with huge expectations and a huge pricetag hanging over him he will cast this off and be free scoring next year i guarantee it remember alad called lucas
ReplyDeletebang on carroll need games against blackburn he done very well holding the ball up and some great touches he got a good goal and i promise when he starts banging in goals again the same lads slagging him off will be shouting from the rooftops that they always knew he was class stick by the lad now and he will be the best english cf in the coming years
ReplyDeleteYou bought Carrol from Newcastle... I've read articles about how you wanted Ba from Newcastle... and now I'm reading the same thing about Cisse. You know, maybe just maybe it's more about the club and not just about the players. Carrol played as well as Ba and Cisse are when he was at the Toon. Kenny Daglish was a great player, is a big spender and a poor manager. Ask anyone on Tyneside who saw him dismantle Kevin Keegans team with Beardsley, Ginola et al and replace them with has been donkey pals like Rush and Barnes. As long as you have him as the boss, you'll be a 'big game' side hunting the cups and not the league. Still, a cup or two would be welcome at St. James' Park :o) Best of luck, ya scallys!
ReplyDeletemy friends are newcastle fans, they will demand 4th at least next year, when pardew and his over achievers dont do it they will sack him. remember ipswich and the over-achivers like marcus stewart and the tremendous goalie?? oh yes richard wright, they bombed out massive season after. newcastle will bomb out next year, they are a selling club!!!
ReplyDeleteWell they must be very good friends if they don't mind you bashing their club like that! But to be honest, they're probably very used to sour grapes from Liverpool fans who have a knack for being wrong :"Newcastle are going straight back down. Dalglish will take us to the champions league. Suarez is not a racist"
ReplyDeleteRing any bells?
The brutal truth is that Kenny isn't a very good judge of players. As mentioned he signed mostly rubbish at Newcastle and the fees he's paid for Carrol, Henderson, Downing and Adams are mind boggling - none of them are even regulars in the team; still what do you expect for £80million. I can't see him lasting. I'm jealous of your cup success this year but I think, looking to the future, newcastle look to have the better foundation for success.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair Cisse and Ba have both exceeded expectations. If it was such a sure thing that they were gonna be such a success better clubs than Liverpool would have went for them.
ReplyDeleteAlso blaming Liverpool for not signing them is like blaming Utd for not signing Sammi Hyypia. I'm starting to notice a lot(not all to be fair) of your articles are based on Hindsight.
you slate us for not being a big club? i forgot that your trophy cabinet is brimming with silverware, so the fact that this century alone, we have won more cups than your fabulous club has won in 50 years. not bad for a medium/little/tiny club. deluded? not really, we are a club that has millions of fans globally. and your club? what can you offer? oh yes, relegation and a return, er, a couple of fa cup finals where you got stage fright, rolled over and let the opposition take the piss. what a big club you are,if that is all a big club like yours can offer, i will stick to our medium/small/tiny outfit, thanks very much.
ReplyDeleteour scouting network appears to be a little lacking and has for sometime. bar a few players, the academy systems have not really produced much, we just seem to get rid of the youths. i do wish kd would let some of them get more experience, playing with better players will help improve them. otherwise, ditch the academy, save a lot of cash and buy them in. the young lads will go out and play without fear.the league position is a disaster anyway, give a few of them the last 5 or so games to have a go. it is my understanding that sterling is on his way back south, that is not paper talk, but the word of two of my good mates, mark bircham and matt connelly, both of qpr, where we got him from. yet again, another gem is lost to a stubborn regime. sterling has had his ear bent by spurs, arsenal and chelsea, chelsea want to team him up with islam feruz,a brilliant lad snatched from the celtic youth team. trouble is,he is listening with intent.
ReplyDeleteWhat?
ReplyDeleteYou missed out cos you never had a clue to begin with. What a stupid article. You have to be in it to win it; I missed out on the euro millions last week.....i suppose it wouldve helped if I bought a ticket.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the 35m. Have fun idolising racist paraguayans who drag your famous club through the sh*tter; whilst your scenile cowardly manager sits back and lets his primadonnas walk all over him.
Its embarrassing.
i'm glad you said "so far"
ReplyDeletehas he actually received any proper service from either side yet ?
i can only watch televised games
lucas "jest christ allah" leiva ??
ReplyDeletei can't wait!!!
bossing midfield for fun ..., haven't seen anyone do that in our team for a while
what happened to that marveaux guy?
ReplyDeleteIN YOUR FACE PARDEW
to be fair; carroll was an absolute BEAST before he fell off that bar stool and injured his knee (lambrini girls; bless them).
ReplyDeleteremember him against us the season prior?
that club of a left foot 30 odd yarder, that game, also vs arsenal, unplayable!
and then he was exiled up on his own :(
ReplyDelete...don't believe everything you read in the paper
ReplyDeleteyes it seems to have been on the demise since - RAFA BENITEZ
ReplyDeleteSometimes I wonder whether these so-called pundits and ex-players really know what they are talking about. With hindsight, we can be kings! Papiss may do well in Newcastle but may not at Liverpool because it depends on how each team is set up and how they play tactically.
ReplyDeleteCarroll was doing well at Newcastle! Yes, what counts is the future. Kenny needs to identify the players he need to fit into his system of play and not go after all good players even if they don't fit in. Like fitting round pegs into a square holes and burn an even bigger hole in the pocket.
Hahahahahaha thats all you've got
ReplyDeleteInstead of raiding EPL teams for their failures who are well and truly overpriced the club should be chasing players abroad.
ReplyDeleteSurely a club with Liverpools resources can find better players than bloody Newcastle.
I dont think Comolli got sacked for Kennys transfers i think he is unable to secure the targets Liverpool are looking at in the summer and someone else is needed.
He came to United - didn't want a mid- table club Like Liverpool. End of.
ReplyDeleteto be fair, some of the crap i have had off them when i go up to newcastle, the above comments are tame.
ReplyDeleteHindsight is great?? I guess you must have been one of the few that believed all was well and that Liverpool didn't need to do anything in the January transfer window (and that the summer transfer business was the best that we could've done)
ReplyDeleteI'll criticize Liverpool as much as I see fit, but when other club's fans decide to pipe up on our perceived issues I just have to laugh(aside from Man U's :-( )
ReplyDeleteYou want to get all excited because you have a slim chance of qualifying for the CL this year?? If you do, well done, but what difference does it make when you have absolutely no intention of doing anything than using it as an opportunity to visit some new cities in Europe?!?
For all the talk of Liverpool's dire times, at the end of the day we'll have another trophy in the cabinet; and even if it is a minor trophy to Liverpool, your lot at the Sports Direct Arena would kill to have one!
I totally understand his frustrations when he got subbed off the other day - Suarez is obviously a better player, but that doesn't mean that Suarez should get preferential treatment and play the full 90 mins every week, while Carroll is getting scraps of playing time. Even though the team is picking up better results with the big man up top.
ReplyDeleteYou must not have very good friends if you think that that bashing a club is unacceptable behavior between friends!
ReplyDeletedon't you just love geordies? before they got to the top division and all seater grounds were yet to happen, their ' huge loyal support' could !only manage to get around ten thousand per game at home. oh how the woodwork around tyneside breathed a sigh of relief when they got promoted back then, all of a sudden they were inundated with 'loyal' fans!!!!
ReplyDeleteliving in the Past son - it counts for nothing, your dads era people may have listened, where are you now? Exactly...take it from a toon fan who watched Dalglish single handedly dismantled one of the most exciting teams the Premier Leaggue had seen. Kenny is a terrible manager. With the money you've spent, your history and the quality you do possess to be happy with the Carling Cup you should be ashamed.
ReplyDeleteAs a toon fan i'd be buzzing to win any trophy as thats where our expectations lie. Kenny aint the answer but hey, long it may continue as Newcastle and your nieghbours Everton are reaping the beneifts!. HWTL!!!
Andy Carroll isn't the problem! Not playing to his strengths is the problem! Or part of it anyway! A really negative manager is the other part! He went to Newcastle & destroyed what Keegan had built! Sack the miserable, old, sour faced scot an get wingers crossing the ball & Carroll will thrive!!!
ReplyDeleteIf KD had of bought 2 real wingers to supply AC then LFC would never be where they are now.A lot of Liverpool fans calling AC a donkey should hang their heads in shame ,he is a class player who only needs service and playing time, you should be pointing fingers at KD.
ReplyDeletewell done genius!!! a century is a 100 years.. you meant decade you fool !!! all i have to say is forget the past your only as good as your last season. i like liverpool but they wont improve under Kenny he is past his sell by date and they sack Camolli for buying players which Kenny identified publicly. Camolli was made a scape goat for Kennys failing and i think its hilarious the fans are buying it
ReplyDeletesorry fella,i don't live in the past, everything i said is, as rafa said, FACT. yes we have under acheived over the years,in terms of league titles. i also accept that we are not entitled to win cups year in year out. well done on punching above your weight this year, but the mike ashley bomb is primed and waiting to blow again. smug faced pardew is a manager who does ok short term (look at his record) then it gets too much for him. if he was that great, why did he not get a bigger club than yours and why did it take him so long to get back into football again?? yes you and your 'loyal' mob can gloat all you like, but money aside and current league positions, you are envious of our club. if you are that good, why have you not won anything or are likely to win anything this year? champs lge? i hope you get it, that may mean chelscum miss out, but despite all your bluster, you will still have only one real thing to boast about, even when it all inevitably goes wrong for you.....you have the biggest stand in the country.......well done you.
ReplyDeleteyou won a Carling cup haha a cup most teams play back up players ... well done you have the best reserves .... you expect to win the league every year, you failed !! no point been bitter toward other clubs because Kenny is slowly destroying you, its not newcastles fault you spent 35m on Carroll blame kenny he wanted him that badly. why wont newcastle do anything in Europe ??? i remember hearing in August newcastle will have a relagation battle on their hands by these so called experts....
ReplyDeleteI don't know one NUFC fan who is envious of your club - As Rafa would say.... FACT.
ReplyDeletethat is not me being petty - I am genuinely telling you I don't know one fan who has ever said something along the lines of, "I'd much rather we were in Liverpool's position.
I hope you aren't another one of the blind followers of Dogleesh. You'd think after the amount of years he's spent in football somebody would've suggested getting some media training. What's that Kenny?? Which person are you blaming this time.........WHAT A JOKE
junior hoillet and the young lad at fulham, frei, are two wingers who would be fantastic to supply ac and the box in general. remember the goal against spurs at anfield with terry mac nodding in from a stevie heighway cross? thats how i want our play to be,bang it out to a touchline hugging winger. we have not had this for years and has been a massive problem for years. why does the staff know this, but do nothing about it? riera, babel, downing, not true wingers. all they did/do, is narrow the play by moving in-field. until that problem is properly addressed, we will always run into blind alleyways, narrow congested play, unable to hurt teams...ok i'm going to say it,sorry..............like we did in the past.
ReplyDeleteexplain something to me. football clubs are entered into cup competitions in order to try to win them, regardless of how the fans view their importance. so are you telling me that you do not want to win the carling/fa cup next season? you prats are fixated with the price tags of our players,it is blatantly obvious the players are not worth the money spent on them..that goes for every club. so if nufc win the carling cup next year, how will you view that???
ReplyDeleteif kd wants to be blunt with the media,so be it. does it upset you that much?how does it affect your life? so he dismantled, as i keep hearing, you 'great' side (so 'great' it won nothing). you were a nothing club before him and you were and are a nothing club after and now. wow, you have had a great season, but i would say unless a club has silverware,it hasn't been a success. just remind me of you silverware wins lately? we are accused of being deluded, that is a term just for you lot. the nickname being bandied about that refers to nufc was 'Jongleurs' ie, a comedy club. all of a sudden mikey boy (the spurs supporting owner) is a cockney hero, with his cockney hero manager. yet not so long ago,it was 'cockney mafia out'??? strange, fickle lot,you are.
ReplyDelete"Money aside and current league positions" well if you take that away, as well as the players (because this article is basically a rant about how did Newcastle get such good players) then all you have left is the memories. According to your logic Newcastle should be jealous of Leeds because they last won silverware more recently. Well done on the Carling cup, that would have been an achievement for a club like Newcastle or Everton but its more a consolation prize for a club like Liverpool, who set themselves a target of champions league this year. And as for the the "Mike Ashley Bomb" that's just wishful thinking, he's balanced the books at Newcastle and has shown FSG how moneyball is done. I'm sorry, no sign of any "bomb" here. And yes we were all skeptical when Pardew arrived but he's won us over. How can you not like him when you look at the league table and see that we're more or less where everyone thought Liverpool would be and you're more or less where everyone thought Newcastle would be.
ReplyDeleteI'm not bitter towards other clubs at all, but I will defend it when fans of any other club decides to attack. And I'm sorry, but as a Newcastle fan you are in no position to attack Liverpool. You *might* end up in the CL next year, but will most likely gain entry to the Europa League (for the first time in God knows how long) - and guess what, Liverpool have already gained entry to that competition!
ReplyDeleteWe won a Carling Cup, and what trophys fill up Newcastle's cabinet exactly?? The Championship!? lmao And I didn't bother watching Newcastle getting knocked out of the Carling Cup, but I'm willing to bet that you guys weren't playing reserves in the competition anyway!
I don't care about what experts say and will defend my own opinions, rather than what anybody else says. So, I never said that Newcastle would have a relegation battle this year and thought that the transfer business would pay off nicely. I do say that they won't 'do anything' (i.e. get beyond the quarter finals) in the Champions League next year though, if they do make it though.
It's not Liverpool's fault that Newcastle fell apart and got relegated after being title contenders once upon a time (although it may be Dalglish's lol). So just enjoy your 'success', and don't bother trying to lord it over anybody else before you've got anything credible to back up your sense of superiority. Liverpool's lows are still better than most team's highs.
Point taken. "I have loads of friends who are Liverpool fans. They will demand 4th again next year and finish even lower than this season because King Kenny will continue to bleed the club dry spending millions on players who are in the public eye but not actually any good. Then FSG will get fed up and pull out and this little blip will be finished and Liverpool can continue its inevitable decline" You can't get mad at me though, because like I said I have friends who laugh off these little spiteful outbursts so why can't you?
ReplyDeletewere linked with neigh on everyone come transfer window,
ReplyDeletei wonder if higuain and benzema are still fighting over which one of them will be our marquee signing *sarcasm* (if not already blatent)
*thinking*
ReplyDelete...what about des hamilton ?
oh no; wait a minute
Well we got Marveaux for nothing and he will be fit for next season, kind of you to ask, any other questions?
ReplyDeleteSorry mate Papiss Cisse would do well in any team, he's a natural, unlike Carroll who clearly is not.
ReplyDeletemate am a liverpool fan, and all am gonna say is the league table doesn't lie....we know daglish won't sign players like cisse only reason being is cisse isn't white and english.
ReplyDeleteJohn Henry just didn't have the balls to sack Kenny when everyone knows both commoli n kenny were to blame for the signings we have made. So why sack commoli only?
hahahahaha seriously marveaux still a better player than carroll, henderson, adam, coates will i go on....meh have fun with ur mid table future IN YOUR FACE KING OF THE DOPES
ReplyDeleteyer marveaux is injured but got him on a free u muppets paid 35mill on a donkey fecking bindipping tools
ReplyDelete"Surely a club with Liverpools resources can find better players than bloody Newcastle" You better get used to that mate, we have the advantage now with this great season behind us, and with our great scouting network chances are that Newcastle are going to remain in and around the top... I know allot of banter has gone on between our two sets of fans, some of it friendly, some of it not so much. But really, apart from the fact that you wanna be in those top spots youself, it can only be good for the EPL what NUFC are doing. We are shaking up the top 4 and doing it with minimal resources, and there is no reason why other clubs in the league cant try and copy that, making for a future EPL where anyone can win, like the French league... Sure, there will always be top clubs in their respective countries like Manure or Marseille, but when a team like Lille or even better, Lens, can go on and win, then you have an open league.
ReplyDeleteYou could always step in for another ridiculous multiple million pound offer for him! that's the problem your trying to buy talent spotted by other clubs instead of putting in place your own efficient scouting system.Too much flashing cash you don't have and if not careful you will end up doing a "Leeds united"
ReplyDelete" as a result of Dalglish's pig-headed allegiance to Andy Carroll"...
ReplyDeleteIs that not a personal insult? The first site rule clearly states attack the argument...not the PERSON
Get real; that is not a personal insult. Many people are pig-headed, myself included sometimes.

Chi Bai lu, we dont need another Cisse !
ReplyDeleteIs he better on the training ground? Don't see him on game day!
ReplyDeleteOr is he injured again?
Hmmm... Great observation "Dope"
$70k per week for not playing!!!
ReplyDelete3.5m a year and medical bills!!!
Great signing!!! :))
Ohh i think Caroll showed yesterday his worth! We are in the final at webley for the second time this year!!!!!!!!!!Dont forget that it was Caroll who took us there! Where has Cisse taken Newcastle? Also, lets see how well Cisse is doing next year. For Newcastle whit there thin troop it is a nightmare to get CL football.
ReplyDeleteto be fair mate your a Newcastle fan and you have your opinions but what are you going to do when the African cup of nations are on and your strikers go and arguably your best midfielder go what then i tell you what you'll loose every game because you've got no one else who can score and Liverpool do we don't just have Suarez we've got other players who score goals too such as Bellamy, maxi , Gerard, Carroll and skrtal and agger from set pieces.
ReplyDeleteand also for all you scum Newcastle fans who say carroll is a waste of money then you can go fuck your selves because he just booked us a place in the final off the FA cup and were have you got in the cup this season eh? oh yh you lost to Brighton in the fourth round hahaha we beat them 6-0 and carroll is getting better next season youll see how good he actually is he was just weighed down with the price tag and yh we might talk about the past but what past do you have fuck all and you wont finish in champs league spot and next season youll probably be back in bottom half of table so fuck of you Geordie cunts so go fuck off
Neither was John Barnes.....
ReplyDeleteWhat has Balls got to do with it. The guy is worth a Billion or so...and didn't do that without a few dangly ones.
Pig-Headed....perhaps Kenny actually knows more than both you and me and most otehr people who havn't been one of teh most decorated players and managers in history...Kenny picked up a Liverpool side in much worse possition than ManU in 86 when Fergie arrived and it took him 4 yrs to get silverware. Get REAL and support our great club and manager.
ReplyDeleteSorry, but that is just staggeringly untrue. Did Man United finish 2nd in the league 3 years prior to Ferguson arriving|? Did they win the European Cup and the FA Cup? had they spend tens of millions in players? No.
ReplyDeleteJK wrote and I quote "...who was heavily linked with Liverpool in the January transfer window, but the club lost out again". If Liverpool didn't managed to get the players, it was not for NOT TRYING, get it? Sometimes the fans are asking the impossible in that they want Liverpool to buy the universe's best players for half the price everyone pays. So stop the whining and get behind the team for once!
ReplyDeleteLet me see, if you did your calculation, Kenny spent a STAGGERING (hold your breath) £37m on Carroll, Downing, Henderson, Adam after selling Torres, Mereiles, Babel and soon Cole and Aquailani. He had the blessings of the owners then, so I don't really see what your complaints are all about.
ReplyDeleteIts easy to criticize on the hindsight, but two finals in his first season is not too bad for the manager trying to overhaul a squad filled with Rafa's old guards and also the shock of Torres and mereiles' 11th hour transfer requests to money clubs!
Check your facts and then give the moanings a rest OK?
