Half-Time VIDEO: Liverpool 1-1 Stoke. Suarez and Crouch goals...

It's 1-1 at half time in the FA Cup Sixth Round tie between Liverpool and Stoke, and so far, it's a pretty evenly contested game.

Liverpool struck first through Luis Suarez, who hit a superb 20-yarder into the bottom corner. Then - inevitably - former Anfield striker Peter Crouch equalised with a free header.

Here are the goals:

1-0: Suarez

1-1: Crouch

First-half observations:

* Steven Gerrard has been very quiet; needs to get into the game more.

* Same old schtick from Andy Carroll: Falls over almost every time he gets the ball, and bullied by defenders. Cost Liverpool a goal when he lost Crouch for the equaliser.

* Some great defensive work by Carra at times.

* Downing's crossing is as atrocious as ever.

* IMO, Reina should've come for the cross that led to the goal. Another in a long line of recent mistakes.

  3. Reina was being blocked by one of stoke's players, i don't think he made a mistake, just the ref didn't see it

  5. Good win in the end, few moments of worry but has the game wore on we did to Stoke what they like to do to teams in wearing them down.

  9. ok a good game, good link up between suarez and maxi, but apart from that spearing was good so was gerrard, skrtel is better than vidic imo, reina wasn't at fault, downing at least tried, carra was ok, coates should have been playing for the start suarez fell down to the ground all the time, yep good win, kenny is feeling the pressure he had an outburst about people criticising him before the game, guess he's not so cool underneath it all

  10. My be, didn't want Maxi to go off, Maxi and Suarez work well together last season proofed that .
The tactics were right Stoke had nothing even Delap didn't work!

  11. I will agree with that. Think Kenny is waking up to the fact you can't please every one any more.

  12. stoke hasn't been setting the world alight. they've been very inconsistent, next qpr consistently loosing we'll see what will happen not winning with them would be a disgrace

  13. no he's a cornered animal who did that to himself, and the results the team has been getting were very very poor, he can't take criticism and has to attack fans, welcome roy hodson nr II, with that attitude he will be heading for the sack unless he actually gets the fa cup, or our owners are blind to what is going on

  14. he doesn't like maxi for some reason, prefers to play his love child henderson, who is not necessarily the most intelligent or effective footballer, he tries to justify his price tag, he thinks he will become an amazing player like lucas, but rafa didn't play lucas all the time, he only played him often when alonso was gone and aqua was injured, kenny prioritizes him over eveyone

  16. LOL, Jaimie can't even bring himself to post an updated link to Downing's winning goal.
Far too positive to put on this site, hahahahaha

  17. Good result this, not a great game but i think we were good for the win. Glad to see Downing get on the scoresheet, had a frustrating time of it this season but generally been playing a lot better of late.

Carroll to be fair didn't get much service, the link with him and Saurez is not effective, but i don't blame Carroll for that, Suarez has been quite selfish with the ball this season esp when Carroll is playing....for some reason....

Reina is just letting them in for fun these days, just can't trust the guy anymore, far too many very questionable mistakes from him which by all accounts could be considered almost schoolboy error type stuff, totally out of character, not surprised though, its been my opinion that he has had an agenda for quite some time now, definitely becoming a problem though as we have dropped many points this season in part to his questionable antics in goal.

Spearing and Gerrard worked pretty well, both had good games, Kelly struggled a bit but generally played well, Skrtel was once again great, Carra was okay, Enrique played alright but has got into a very bad habit of crossing the ball when he should pass it....or passing the ball when he should cross.....defensively quite solid but a bit suspect going forward, probably good friends with Reina............

Suarez i thought played well, showed more application in this game than of late, seen a lot of huffing and puffing lately but today at least he looked like he wanted to score.....and a good goal it was too, shame he can't do that more often....i reckon our goal tally would be a lot higher had he tried harder this season.....must be in with Reina also....

Maxi, played okay, linked up with Suarez but not too well with Carroll......quite glad that he was taken off, Hendo i thought was pretty decent, all in all i was happy with the result, not the best performance from us but good enough to beat a tough and resilient Stoke and get us to another semi..... :)

  18. I agree with you that when it comes to passing to Carroll, everyone has been selfish but you can't blame them after the kind of reputation Carroll has developed. He loses ball so easily to defenders and a chance is lost from a very good position after a long build up.

Carroll is too stiff to move around with the ball and idiot enough not to figure out that he is supposed to return the pass when other playing taking a run. Has anyone seen him running with other player towards the goal for support or for grabbing a chance of scoring goal ? I can't remember any instance!

Person who decided to buy him should be shot in head. When LFC bought him, the whole world could see that it was a bad piece of business except buyers themselves.

  19. Good solid performance, always in control, Downing had a good game and scored the winner (much to the author's dismay).

Downing is NOT a flop, first season at a big club.  No one gives anyone any time in football these days.  It's become fickle.

  20. Downing is 27; he's in the prime of his career; he's vastly experienced in the Premier League, and he's an experienced international.

He has no goals or assists in 30-odd league games.

    He is a flop.
