LFC Legend blasts: Ferguson has a 'chip' on his shoulder over Liverpool...

Liverpool midfield legend Jan Molby has accused Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson of having a grudge against Liverpool.

After United beat Liverpool 2-1 at Old Trafford last Saturday, Ferguson made some crass, hypocritical post-match comments about Luis Suarez, arguing that Kenny Dalglish should dump the Uruguayan on the scrapheap for his refusal to shake Patrice Evra's hand.

Never one to shirk away from voicing his true opinion, Molby castigated the United's manager conduct in his column for the Liverpool Echo. He argued:

"Nobody came out of it well and that includes Evra and Alex Ferguson.

"We all know Ferguson has got a chip on his shoulder about Liverpool. He saw the opportunity to twist the knife in and took it.

"He knew the impact his words about Suarez would have".

Molby is just the latest in a growing number of ex-Liverpool players to criticise Ferguson's comments. Earlier in the week, Kevin Keegan argued that Ferguson was 'wrong' to say what he did, and accused the United boss of allowing the situation to 'escalate'.

I agree with Molby and Keegan here - Ferguson knew exactly what he was doing. Such is the man's hypocrisy that I have no doubt that if Suarez was available on the cheap tomorrow, Man United would be in for him.

Molby insists that Liverpool will not sell Suarez, despite what Ferguson says, and believes the club still has a lot to look forward to this season:

"When you look at this season, we’re in the Carling Cup final, the fifth round of the FA Cup and we’re competing for Champions League qualification – it’s all there".

  1. Agreed, nobody came out of it smelling like roses, but who is ferguson to comment when he has players in his ranks who have done far worse. He has somebody who slept with his brothers wife, somebody who slept with older women behind his girlfriends back and a player who missed his drugs test. I'm sure they have one or two other players that aren't squeaky clean. Hopefully this whole Suarez saga will be put to bed soon and we can concentrate on football.

  2. Hmmmm being a racist and racially insulting another player on the pitch is actually far worse than all of those things but of course...'always the victims, its never your fault' 19.

  3. In 1986 the World Cup in Mexico, Uruguay eliminated Scotland after a
scoreless draw. At the end of the match the coach of Uruguay, Omar
Borras, turned to the Scotland coach to shake hands. The Scot, who is
frustrated by his team's elimination, however, refused to shake hands.
The name of this coach? Alex Ferguson!

  5. As far as I know Suarez only refused to shake Evra's hand, and not that of Valencia or Ferdinand who are also from a different race. Racism has nothing to do with it...anyone with an IQ greater than 30 can see that.

  6. I have heard from a good source that Suarez will be sold in the summer. obviously Liverpool will say he is not for sale as they want the best deal for him.
I argued with Jamie when he wrote something agianst buying him in here. I was wrong... he has brought more headache to club that worth his talent.
In regards to Ferguson and some of the comments in papers around Suarez saga, all I can say, they were all hypocrites.
Saying that we didnt help ourelves either.

  7. even if what you said is right... did you see Ferguson or some of the press who now fighting against racism saying anything when Schemiechel called Ian Wright. The camera showed his face and you could lipread it however when it went to panel, he denied saying it and Wirght didnt follow it.
I dont remember Mirror calling him racist or Ferguson not backing him. did you Jacob?

  8. but isn't it funny how suarez hung around reaching for Rio's hand while you dippers would have everyone believe that as he raced past Evra he(sewerez) actually offered his hand.

    ReplyDelete
  9. So who is the racist you're referring to?  Certainly not Suarez!  The FA made it very clear that he is NOT a racist.  Please enlighten us! The fact that he allegedly racially abused Evra was merely the FA's opinion and nothing more.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Wow have you just made that up or have you spent your idle/benefit cheating time actually digging until you can find something to make you dippers look more pathetic?

  13. Jacob, please do tell us who is racist???? We do not think we are the victims.......so get over yourself. Why have you put 19? Clearly, you are not very good at expressing yourself. If you are refering to 19 league titles, I would ask you, what has that got to do with anything?

  14. Ferguson has got a rat up his arse about Liverpool like a lot of Man Utd supporters have. He's done a brilliant job during his tenure but it must still give him sleepless nights to realise that Liverpool have the edge when it comes to trophies. I don't think he'll retire until the balance is redressed. Does that qualify as an obsession?

  19. Man utds players and fans are two faced.I think when teams play man utd the opposing players should not speak to any man utd player ever again, when Suarez did this Evra decided to make a fool of himself and made himself look like the childish baby he is..There are too many players off man utd trying to be the next martin luther king, what will it be next at the theatrics of dreams the crowd bringing candles in and singing we shall overcome.Evra is a racist he started it when Suarez was trying to be friendly by patting his head and Evra said dont touch me you south american, which Suarez simply replied your black,i dont blame Suarez, but this country is so mixed up and frightened of its own shadow the fa and man utd, evra and the press have made an issue out of it.Evra trying to provoke Suarez at OT,evra showed his true colours and Suarez was dignified, same as Suarez was dignified in refusing to shake Evras hand which Evra put by his side, well done Suarez im with you 100%.

  20. thing is this fergy had it in for suarez from the start with all the cheating allegations didnt he say same thing about torres hes always at it reason why is this he know just how good these players are so he has to unsettle them with his crass remarks

    ReplyDelete
  21. Jacob tit for tat, James only highlights these incidents when we all know there are far worse (Kung Fu Cantona) and unless we now live in a world where racial abuse is considered worse than physical, Fergie is a hypocrite by a long mile.

  25. how on earth can any loserpool fan say that any united fan has any sort of obsession with the bindippers, i was reading this morning a story that had nothing to do with football (it was the anne robinson quiz "how scouse are you" followed by comment after comment about manchester united, whinge, whinge and more whinging.take your shell suit off(white for the bride) look in the mirror "not the paper, you cant' read) and see what the world see's, your obsession for manchester is pathetic.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Also Ferguson never said a word when Cristiano Ronaldo was diving about all over the place. Total hypocrisy.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Well, you are commenting on a liverpool website. Seems that you are in denial over your chronic obsession with all things LFC!

Nice second name by the way, your not a bitter relation of Stevie are you?

    ReplyDelete
  28.  I do laugh when i see Utd fans reading LFC fan sites. That speaks volumes surley? I know i wouldn't bother reading anything on a UTD site as chances are i wouldnt like it! That being said ANYONE with a balanced view on football can surley see that he does have a chip on his shoulder and IS a massive hypocrite (all mentioned in posts above, Schmicheal, Cantona, Keane, Ronaldo) its easy to take a pop at someone else, rather than take a long hard look at yourself!

But at the end of the day its his job to be to protect players. Just as its the Kings job to try to protect ours. The whole media swam over the incident has blown things out of all proportions. One thing i do trust in is Kama, it all comes back on you 3fold. Also fooball goes in cycles, nobody is on top forever! Sooner or later LFC will be back where we belong riding hight at the top of the table and europe. If i have to wait for the day that i can happily watch UTD fans cry into their pints of shandy on their way back to Kent then i will happily wait!

Here is to the universe correcting the balance, the sooner the better!

  32. Nice, classy reply. You call us alsorts, sing about Heysel, (our moronic idiots sing about Munich), you sing about Hillsborough & then you jump on your moral high horses with this whole Suarez incident (which hasn't been proved in a court of law & never will be because evidence is required to find someone guilty of a crime!). And the biggest crime is that you don't see the irony of it all. Your club would be proud. Keep feeding the hate. We'll all (both sides) get what we deserve in the end. ;-)

  33. Fergies shrink can trace it back to watching his much vaunted Aberdeen side brutally dismantled at Anfield back in the day. Poor guy was traumatised and has been a gibbering wreck ever since

    ReplyDelete
  34. Of course Ferguson does, rivalry between the two clubs has hardly been friendly for 3/4 decades now. I'd worry if a manager of Liverpool was pally with a United manager or the mancs team in the media, i.e., constant positive comments. Didn't we all get annoyed when Hodgson made comments last season. Ferguson and KK might overstep the line at times but they do it, with the mindset of protecting their clubs at all costs and from time to time, having a giggle at their rivals if they can. No big thing.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Of course Fergie has a problem with Liverpool. Despite his success Liverpool has won more major trophies and finals than UTD!

He wants Suarez gone because he either scores or sets goals up against them each time he plays. It's not that hard to see the hypocrite's motives.

You would think they would mobilise their forces to get rid of the asset stripping Glazers (£600m and counting), but 75,000 just sit on their hands doing nothing. Green and gold - what a joke...

  36. May be we should get the Queen to cancel his knight hood and have it annulled like the RBS chairman Fred Goodwin for inciting hatred in football !

    ReplyDelete
  37. Why didn't Kenny utter a word against Fergi's statement ? At least he should have told Fergi to shut up for making such harsh statement about his club's player. Fergi has no right to do it. Just imagine Kenny doing it about Rooney....

  38. I have no doubt that something will be said on that issue in due course, but it was probabiy better to let it lie last weekend.

  39. "I mean, it's not just a part of football, it's the whole bloody attitude of the nation. You can see that attitude there. The whole thing. They (Uruguayans) have no respect for other people's dignity."

A quote from the same Scotland coach after the game... quite aggressive and offensive to... the whole nation of Uruguay.

  40.  Jacob, how come Fergie didn't come out and call Peter Schmeichel a disgrace after he racially abused Ian Wright?........Oh yeah thats right, its because hes a massive hypocrite!!!

  42. THE FA IS IN THE HANDS OF MAN UTD
THEY SUSPENDED SUAREZ FOR 8 MATCHES IN ORDER TO BREAK THE MOMENTUM OF LIVERPOOL AT
    THAT TIME
THEY WERE ONLY LOOKING FOR THE RIGHT EXCUSE TO DO IT AND IT CAME !!!

ALEX FERGUSON IS DAMN RIGHT A HYPOCRITE !!!!
NO MANAGER SAID WHAT HE SAID FOR SUAREZ, WHEN CANTONA MADE THAT KUNG FU KICK !!!
AND CANTONA DID 10000 WORSE !!!...NO COMPARISON !!!!!

SUAREZ WAS RIGHT NOT TO SHAKE EVRA'S HAND
HE FElT HE HAS BEEN TOO HARSLY PUNISHED BY THE FA BECAUSE OF THAT MAN
AND THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE -IT WAS WORD AGAINST WORD

HOW COULD HE SHAKE EVRA'S HAND AND JUST MOVE ON WHEN HE WAS THE REAL VICTIM IN THAT WHOLE AFFAIR IN THE FIRST PLACE

IT'S LIKE BEING ASKED TO APOLOGIZE AND SHAKE THE HANDS OF THE GUY WHO JUST KNIFED AND MUGGED YOU A FEW MINUTES AGO !!!!!!!!!

REMEMBER: EVRA IS NOOOOOT A SAINT !!!
REMEMBER THE CONTROVERSY HE STIRRED DURING THE WORLD CUP WHICH LED FRANCE TO SHIPWRECK!!!

    HE IS A LUNATIC!!!!

  43. Here is an ex pro I value is Jan Molby.

Says it as it is, negative or positive but you can feel from his comments he has LFC interests at heart when discussing issues.

Spot on about Ferie. such a clever twit at manipulating the media and has been doing this for years, it is true KK was a little unprofessional in his press converance to Geoff Shreeves but havent we all been watching Plonky do this for years to the press and never receives the bad press KK and LFC received this past week. Seems as though he is untouchable within some quarters of our game!! Don't get me bloody started on his pathetic Knighthood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why also did he have to bring it up again on thursday when excusing Evra form his Europa Squad?? Stressful week for the POOR evra, the idiot thrives on controversy and being in the spotlight!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. isnt it funny? how hypocritical can ferguson get , was,nt it one of his players that jumped into the crowd and kung fu kicked a spectator. the mans a joke and should keep his mouth closed!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Fair play Jamie after all that has been said about this affair and all we have seen where Manchester United have been the instigators at every turn, Alex Ferguson and Patrice Evra were to blame for the whole thing.
Really does this argument have any credibility at all outside the walls of Anfield? As an oft reasonable Liverpool supporter don't you think that stoking the fires at every turn is counter productive? Manchester United supporters have left this saga behind us and moved on , I humbly suggest that the Liverpool fans do too.

  48. Worse than sleeping with your brother's wife behind his back? if one of manu player doesn't respect his own bother , can you imagine him respecting others? as for so called red nose when some players of manu  shun shaking hands with Viera, then it was no disgrace for them to play for manu, sheer hypocrisy from ferg but yet ferg giving lesson about morale .. n some fans forgetting manu became champion after a blank period of 25 years n thse r fact not balance of probabilities

    ReplyDelete
  49. But its not worse than kicking man in the face ! why he didn't Sell Cantona when he did that ?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Its about time someone came out with the facts.
Fully support you. Same as we should all support Suarez, he`s been through a lot of crap with this. Set up by Fungeson and his bum chums at the FA, and the press.  We all need to stick together and the players show there support by doing it on the pitch.
FA cup final next. Come on you reds.

  51. Our old legends must be extremely grateful to Ferguson, for them any argument is valid to divert attention from the development of our squad since our new owners took over, is a
kind of a risky thing for them to discuss the quality of our policy concerning our transfers, the ability of Comolli ,the quality of the players, the lack of tactical awareness, the worrying lack of goals, since this means criticizing their golf buddy Kenny.

end his career. and did cantona not kick a fan in the head just shows
what a joke he really is. now would he have accepted some other managers
calling for there sale. nope and would united be were they are today
without them two. i dont think so fergie needs to learn to shut his mouth its really that simple

    ReplyDelete
  58. the whole Evra - Suarez circus has given birth to a continuing conveyer belt of nonsense! Fact is Suarez is not a racist! Fact is Evra is a nightmare of a human being who loves causing unnecessary controversy! See his behaviour in a recent world cup with France for starters! Ferguson is an Olympic standard hypocrite! He needs to shut up on matters not concerning his own club! And for heaven sake football fans can we drop all this vile hatred - its nauseating! Yes have banter! But a lot of posts here are fuelled by hatred! Its a game of football, nothing more nothing less; why let yourselves look stupid? A lot of Premier League footballers are:-

cheats - whether diving for penalties, or trying to get other players sent off.
terrible actors - rolling around after being tackled as though they've been shot! Grow up!
Liars - Evra springs to mind!

I enjoy watching football, but I wince when watching grown men behaving like spoilt children! Especially Man U and Chelsea! Grow the **** up! I may take a break from watching football as its becoming a farce!

  59. Competing for Champion's League qualification?  Hardly... Of course you agree with Molby and Keegan you're blinded by your allegiance to the club.  Suarez is a cancer and needs to go

  60. I agree, Evras comments were quite racist weren't they

    ReplyDelete
  61. I actually agree here but surely not worse than being Jet li Catona. Do you sack him? no. I rest my case..

  62. Trouble is, if Suarez goes, Evra and Taggart win. For the first time in years LFC had a player far better than anything they had on the pitch. He ripped them apart in the 3-1, they didn't like it. Ergo: one vexatious complaint.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Which is why you're currently looking at a Liverpool website, eh Jase? First heard those jokes in 1984. Still hilarious. Not.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I believe you will find that he didnt call him "a negro" in English. He was speaking in spanish where the word means black so he called him "black" the spanish conversation which Evra initiated...I take it you didn't read the report but referred to the 'Sun' version of things!

    ReplyDelete
  67. No Allenvanwyk you silly billy... that's the number of Barcelona players that seemed to be on the pitch according to Snr Whiskey Nose ;)

    ReplyDelete
  68. Keane should've been red carded IN THE TUNNEL for intent that day, and would have in todays game... possibly... probably.... in all probability anyway... hang on the FA's on the other line !!!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Personally I think the GBH (grievous bodily harm) is much more serious than verbal racial abuse. Physically attacking someone with intent to cause harm is far more serious. Yet when
Eric Cantona kicked a football fan in the face with a two footed flying kick and then flew off to France to escape it all, who was the one person who took a trip to France and talk him into coming back to United??? Ferguson! I rest my case. Yes, in both cases, Cantona and Suarez are in the wrong, but so is Fergie. What he said is totaly inconsistent with how he himself has managed players in the past.
