Agent confirms: £15m Serie A star is being 'tracked by Liverpool'...

After last summer's turgid performance in the transfer market, Liverpool fans will be hoping that any transfer funds available this summer will be spent more wisely, and on better quality players. If the rumours are to be believed, Udinese midfielder Mauricio Isla is on the club's summer shopping list. The Chilean International has been persistently linked with a move to Liverpool over the last two months, and earlier this week, Isla's Agent confirmed that Liverpool are indeed tracking the player.

In an interview with BK Sport a few days ago, Isla's Agent, Leo Rodriguez, revealed that Liverpool are interested in his £15m-rated client. He said:

"I think he is being tracked by Liverpool and other Italian clubs like Juventus and Roma. I'm not sure that these clubs have already initiated contacts with Udinese."

Meanwhile, Isla - who suffered a serious knee injury against AC Milan last weekend - confirmed that he would definitely be leaving Udinese at the end of the season. He told La Tercera:

“I talked to Gino Pozzo [son of Udinese owner Giampaolo], who decided to let me go at the end of the season. I do not exclude the possibility of staying as I was asked to stay for another year, but, for now, all I think about is recovering from this injury as soon as possible.”

Given the fact Isla has just sustained a season-ending knee injury, I sincerely doubt that Liverpool will take a risk on him in the summer. After the problems caused by buying injured players in the past (Aquilani; Degen; Carroll etc), the club (IMO) needs to concentrate on buying only fully-fit players with no history of recent injury.

  1. Why does every artical you post have three dots after the title? Is it too fool people into thinking there is something good to read not your usual trash?!

  2. I doubt Liverpool would buy any new player without selling the old one.

  3.  “Isla has sprained his right knee with a lesion to the collateral lateral ligament and damage for the anterior cruciate ligament.Think you could be right Jaimie plus we will still be nursing Lucas back from his injury as well next season. Isla could have given us the attacking player we need back to Ramirez then at Bologna !
