CONFIRMED: £33m wing-star has received some "very interesting offers..."

Lille's Eden Hazard has regularly been linked with a move to Merseyside over the last six months, and I'm sure Liverpool fans would love to see the Belgian international at Anfield. However, Lille have now emphatically slammed the door shut on any move away from France in the January transfer window.

Liverpool loanee Joe Cole recently described Hazard as 'a bit like Messi', but Lille's academy director Jean-Michel Vandamme made it clear yesterday that the skillful attacker is staying in France until the end of the season. He told Calciomercato.com.

"We have received some very interesting offers for Hazard, but the player will stay with us until the end of the season at least."

"He definitely will not be leaving until then. At the end of the season, if we can find someone willing to make an appropriate offer, we will look to reach an agreement.

"There are clubs in all of the major European leagues that want him, and I think a player like Hazard is worth at least €40million (£33m)

Speaking on French Radio at the end of December 2011, Agent Marc Fourmeux revealed a long list or potential suitors for Hazard, but, sadly, Liverpool was not among them. Said Fourmeux:

"There is much talk of an offer of €30m from Manchester City, which will see him remain at Lille for the next six months. Michel Seydoux [Lille President] is seeking €40m though.

"His future is in any case destined for a big European club like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City, AC Milan, Inter or Juventus."

Liverpool legend John Barnes also thinks the Hazard link is nonsense, as he revealed on LFC TV recently:

"We have to be realistic about who we can get, and while we have been linked with a lot of big names, such as David Villa, Eden Hazard and Bastein Schweinsteiger, At this moment in time, I don't think they will be coming to Liverpool"

If Liverpool make it into next season's Champions League then players like Hazard might become a real possibility.

Until then, we'll have to make-do with the likes of Stewart Downing *shudder*

  1. If LFC doesn't make it to UCL, we can forget about attracting top players...ironically we have to depend on players like downing to make it...

  2. I'd rather players become top players playing for us. Modric and Bale were only highly rated, but were hardly stars when Damien Comolli signed them for Spurs. Benitez wanted to sign Modric, but we'd never heard of Bale. Joe Hart was bought as a promising talent where Richards came through City's ranks. Fabregas was bought from Barca as a teen. Sturridge was bought from City before we even cared who he was. Ronaldo and Henry were hardly the superstars they are today when united and Arsenal first signed them, neither did they perform immediately. For that matter, neither Rush nor Beardsley hit the ground running. For all we know, we already have the top players waiting to happen! Shelvey, Henderson, Sterling, Suso, Adorjan, Silva(Tony), Coady, Wisdom, Ibe, Morgan but to name a few.

  6. Hazzard= no chance!

Kenny persists in playing Downing on the left and Bellamy on the right when it is CLEAR Downing is a POOR left midfielder.  Just play the lad on the right because as Ive said before he has only once performed well in a left midfield role and that was in his 1st season as an unknown.  He has since been found out there.

.....AND Andy Carroll. For all of his effort last night he put in possibly the worst technical center forward display I have seen for many a year....at any club.  When I watch Andy Carroll play it gives me confirmation that Geppetto is yet to get his wish. It won't be long till he needs to reaply that cuprinol.

  7. downing is top draw.  I think all LFC fans should realise we have King Kenny and Comolli; two of the greatest football minds alive. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

  8. I agree - it's amazing to me how Downing and Carroll were no up for the Ballon 'D'or this year. What were Fifa thinking?

  9. sick of hearing ''we have King Kenny''........ hes making huge mistakes and stubbornly relying on useless players that he has wasted huge amounts of money on, and hes backing them up just because he bought them.... comolli is the great scouting mind, and he was the one who scouted luis suarez, not dalglish, kenny got us andy carroll... see the difference???? kenny got us adam, comolli go us enrique, again see the difference???? :/ kenny needs to seriously needs to leave the transfers to comolli who clearly knows what he is doing.... kenny is gonna continuously rely on and praise carroll, even tho he is clearly the worst centre forward i have ever seen in my life, we can all see it, the fans can see it, the players can see it, the opposition fans can see it and are laughing at us, the whole world can see that carroll is ABSOLUTELY USELESS, all except kenny.... and its starting to frustrate the fuck out of me and alot of other LFC fans..... carroll needs to go, and a new more skillful goalscoring CF needs brought in before the club gets brought to its knees... :(

  10. Downing shows more heart when taking on women than footballers!! We are doomed if we are to rely on this very very average so called winger.

  11. ain't all tis bitching abt players juz the same as wat we heard a few seasons ago regarding Lucas??

  12. Depends on your sources.  From day one many Liverpool fans saw that Lucas came to the Prem as an attacking midfielder and was asked to completely re-wire his game to adjust to what Rafa wanted.  He always had the talent.

Carroll and Downing on the other hand have always been rated by the press who seem to take mediocre English players cover them in chocolate and hope that the fans wont be able to tell the difference between a snickers and chocolate coated sh*t bar.  Mark my words they will never be good enough unless that it is of course big Sam or Neil Warnock are offered the Liverpool hot seat.

  13. Kenny's also not done anything to suggest he would want to sign a player like hazard. I personally am not sure that he is making all the decisions when it comes to transfers, i think he definitly wanted Adam but the rest to me seem like Comolli signings. Due to the opta stats etc although i couldnt back that up, its just my opinion.

Although signing Hazard would be amazng i remember he was imense against us in the champs league a few years back, created all sorts of problems but i think a more realistic target would be Adam Johnson who is also somebody i would love us to sign. I think with him not being a regular and no other clubs seem to get linked to him, we should really push all out to get him. He for me is a better version of downing, better dribbler, a bigger goal threat and creates more problems for the opposition in general.

  14. Seriously??

weve just beaten the top side in the country and i came here to read another negative article.

hazard is one the best prospects in the country so what is the need for the negative comment about downing?

Downing is an england international and agreed hasnt sent the world alight so far in a red shirt, but what is the need to write another negative comment...

i used to like and appreciate your articles, but why the need to have the dig

  15. I'm sorry. Next time I'll ask your permission before I have an opinion that differs from the status quo. My bad.

  16. You'll notice that he doesn't include Man United in those "big clubs" either so I'd hardly take it as an official shortlist. He's just mentioned a few glamour clubs. But indeed, it's all about European football. That's what drove Torres out and it's what will stop up signing those big names that people seem so determined to have at the club.

  17. The 2nd half of the season will be better. As what i witnessed with loss 3-0 to Man City, The players have grown up to good understanding. Each knows what to do.

How to play Andy to his strength, Remember Crouch? It took him 15 games to get his 1st goal,( IGNORE ANDY'S PRICE TAG) Andy need somebody pacy as his partner,( while suarez not available), Gerrard is the man or Bellamy to partner him, he needs heavy kick on his backside. The crossbar didn't do good for him either.

Suarez is best played as 2nd striker, he's got assists and goals will be there anyway. I think King Kenny been telling to be at the end of the ball ( final ball), He's not type of personality, he's somebody to be involved everytime.

I am confident that we'll see the best of carroll this part of the season. Downing can't be bad in half a season, he did have assists in him and goals seasons before at other clubs. I think this team getting together someway.

    Opinions only, Puga.kopites

  18. Everyone was that concerned about Carroll's fitness we have turned him into a push over he has no strength in his body after losing weight,he looks trim but has lost his power and will take another 6 months most probably for him to get it back.

  20. If we are depending on the "likes of Downing" to get us into the CL, then we should show him some respect, especially if he manages to do just that.

  22. i am sure that most of you that comment on these sites do not even watch any games. you all keep on slating the players yet if you watched them play then you would realise that with a better finishing in front of goal and with a bit more luck we could be top 2. as it is we have missed a lot of chances yet are only 3 points off a champions league spot. tell me how we have managed that if carroll, downing, adam and henderson are as useless as you all say they are????

  23. Hazard is sadly to good for liverpool just look at his last match against lyon.In 3 years he will be up there next to ronaldo and messi

  24. if you care to look at the teams his agent named they are all clubs that could and probably would pay him huge wages, note arsenal have also showed intrest and made an enquiry about him according to lille but no mention of them. use youre heads its his agent saying these teams obviously trying to get him to a club that could pay huge wages and i bet a nice wee/millions agent fee for himself for doing it, thats what an agent is there to do. and please the way some people go on its like we have been the worst team in the league yes some players have'nt hit the ground running at 100 miles an hour but its more or less a new bunch of players getting used to playing together. our defence has been solid this season we have been without our captain and a huge player for us up till now. no team in the world wouldnt miss a player like gerrard in some way, we lost our holding midfielder who has been brilliant there for us the whole team never had a whole pre season together for varies reasons, we just went and beat the league leaders that have spent a hell of a lot more than us on their current squad on their home patch in the SEMI FINAL without our main striker at the moment suarez. all i heard from people ye they never had kompany silva and toure yes true but we also never had suarez and lucas also big players for us, but we still beat them with carroll having a nightmare that night yes everyone is entitled to their opinion but when its just pure negativity whats the point? some of you need to think back to just last season to see how much our club was in a bad way and nearer the bottom of the league out the cups and with huge debts, we still are in contention for a top 4 finish and in a great position in the semi of the league cup, best defence record in the league all that with a new team gelling together and without big players available if thats not progress then i dont know what is. if you call yourself a LFC supporter then check what the word supporter actually means and start doing it instead of youre totally negative and constant moaning and slagging off our manager and players.
