CONFIRMED: €16m Uruguay striker IS available for January transfer...

Paris St. Germain's new manager Carlo Ancelotti claims that prolific Napoli Striker Edinson Cavani is available for a move during the January transfer window.

Cavani - who cost Napoli €16m - plays alongside Luis Suarez in the Uruguay national team, and it appears that Napoli are willing to let him go despite handing him a new 5-year contract last summer. Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ancelotti revealed:

"I have received hundreds of phone calls from agents offering me players ever since I signed with PSG.

"They have offered me some incredible names. Players who have just signed spectacular contracts elsewhere,"

"Do you want the names? Okay, now I tell you the players the agents are offering on the market, officially or not: [Carlos] Tevez, [Fernando] Torres, [Dimitar] Berbatov, [Roman] Pavlyuchenko, [Edison] Cavani, [Fernando] Llorente.

"They all want to come here. There's the city of Paris, there's money and there's a coach with a good reputation"

Liverpool have been linked with Cavani in the past, and I'm sure fans would love to see him team up with Suarez at Anfield, but despite his alleged availability, I can't see Kenny putting in a bid for him.

Agents know that PSG have money, so they're greedily shopping their clients with a firm eye on a big payday. Ancelotti said it himself: 'There's money' - PSG are the new Man City, and the mercenaries of Europe will be queuing up to line their pockets.

Should Liverpool pursue Cavani?

  1. I can't see Napoli let Cavani leave now that they have to fight in the Champions League.  Not gonna happen. He stays put.

  2. 16 m is a bargain. If the price is right and he want to move to LFC it would be great.

  3. Yes we should - absolutely.  Suarez and Cavani would be an incredible strike force. Tara Carroll - actually feel sorry for the chap.  How he ever made it into the Premier League is beyond me...

  4. If he really costs 16m Euros to sign, we most definitely should!

  5. He will cost double that and psg will gladly pay it

  6. Where does it say 16 million apart from the title?

  7. No way Napoli will let Cavani go for 16M, that is insane

  8. The agents are offering their players around, not the clubs, and 16 million is laughable, will be closer to 30 million without doubt

  9. Did anyone bother to read this properly? Ancelotti clearly says "officially or not" when naming players. It confirms nothing. He also mentions other players. It all sounds a bit tongue in cheek.

  10. We need Brendan Rodgers

  11. $16m?

    Don't be silly.

    At least double that

  12. like playing pes..after this will be a rumour that barca let messi go for 25m

  13. If in fact he is available (highly unlikely) and LFC doesn't have a crack at getting him when he has 2 of his fellow countrymen at the club, works extremely well with Suarez and is a proven goal scorer on all stages we simply don't have the ambition to re enter the top 4. (The number 10 shirt is waiting.)

  14. even if  he costs double we should buy him. he and luis upfront would help us forget the lumbering donkey carroll.
from that list, cavani or torres please.

  15. pay them double for that quality striker..go liverpool..go get edison cavani!!

  16. ya whats it suppose to mean: officially or not officially?

  17. Yeahhh Cavani will score lotsa goals for Liverpool. He and Suarez will be a great pairing.

  18. Bull turds sounds like an agent trying to sell his player or some1 who is trying to look good to buy 1

  19. look fact of the matter is if he is available great sign him but im thinkin it will be more around the 25 to 35mill mark maybe more (if carroll was 35mill it should be double)

    ReplyDelete
  20. where does it say 16 mil?

    ReplyDelete
  21. 16m is how much Napoli paid for Cavani, i.e. that's his last accurate transfer value.

  22. 16 mill euro is farce, that would be like 10-11 million pounds. utter farce.

  23. liverpool are signing a uruguayan striker for sure... don't think it's cavani though...

maiby for the double of it...but not for 16M

  25. Yep, definitely going to cost more than 16m pounds or euros.

He'd be brilliant though. I hope when he does become available maybe Coates and Suarez can give us an edge in the pursuit (though I think he'll be too rich for our blood).

  26. I would say "officially or not"  means with or without the club's knowledge/consent.

  27. but a team can trigger his release clause or he could realy want to come to england so he hands in  transfer request

    ReplyDelete
  28. More likely to cost £40m. I doubt he'll move to England but, if he does, I could only see Man City being the destination.

  29. misleading headlines to hook in the suckers! Jackanory!

  30. Well it's clear that money doesn't buy you class.  Just as Real Madrid and Barcelona openly and disrespectfully discuss transfer targets without a care in the world, it would seem PSG are in the on the act.

    ReplyDelete
  31. 35 to 40 mill euros at least

    ReplyDelete
  32. yeah yeah......lets sign him......hes been playing well and looks really good looks like good potential to........................then when he dont live up to expectations straight away some you lot can start sticking the knife into him and kenny.
joke........does anyone know whos the right man for liverpool up front??
hold on, im just popping on my ps3 fifa 12 see whos got top rating, and il be back lol

    ReplyDelete
  33. we can dream, can't we? him and Patricio Rudriguez

    ReplyDelete
  34. So Fernando Torres is also trying to jump ship. No fortune can replace Liverpool, he was a hero once, now he is a mercenary wherever he goes.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Looks better than Bent and Defoe, so much for buyimg British.

    ReplyDelete
  36. No chance .Even for 16 million he is too expensive for Kenny.Kenny would rather spend 25 million on Defoe or 35 million on Bent or 20 million on Kevin Phillips.

    ReplyDelete
  37. this....cant be true....even if he is for 25 or 30 he is worthy of it since he plays well and knows his job which is scoring goals not like our lazy number 9 who blocks goals from going in...kenny..come on make it happen...sell kuyt, downing and get cavani...on board..and where the heck is cormoil..we need him to get the deal done...kenny wake up...

    ReplyDelete
  38. if lfc wanna challenge for top 4 buy cavani....and sell kuyt and maxi...

    ReplyDelete
  39. €16m is how much he cost Napoli u muppets!

    ReplyDelete
  40. If we can afford 35 million for AC why not spend 35 for Cavani at least he'll get the job done

    ReplyDelete
  41. He was bought by Napoli for €16M but I don't think he is currently valued at the same. He could easily cost any team at €30-40M.

    ReplyDelete
  42. yeah...if €32M takes u to (CL) Champions League, why not make the move. Once LFC r in the CL, that sum can be recovered via sponsors and advertisement alone.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I can easily see Kenny forking out 40-50m pounds each for Ox-Chamberlain, Connor Wickham, and Sammy Ameobi, heck even Shelvey. Oh wait he's already at Liverpool lol

    ReplyDelete
  44. Apperently Jordies want AC back for 5m
