Agent CONFIRMS: Liverpool striker target is "wanted by half of Europe..."

Colombian striker Jackson Martinez recently confirmed that several clubs - including Liverpool - are interested in signing him, and now, his Agent has revealed that one club in particular has actually made a move, which means time is running out for other interested teams to get in on the act.

Speaking to a Colombian radio station last week (which was then reported in newspaper El Tiempo), Martinez, who plays for Jaguares, was asked about speculation linking him to Liverpool. He said:

"For me it is a joy whenever I see news about teams interested in me, but for now I have a contract with the Jaguars. My departure will take place but it depends on things happening".

Yesterday, the Colombian's agent, Giovanni Fiore, revealed that there had been some new developments. He told TMW:

"He's wanted by half of Europe. It's true.

"He's a major player, but the most concrete case is from Spain. Villarreal want him, we'll see how talks go in the coming days.

"What is certain is that there are many suitors."

It sounds like Fiore is putting the pressure on other clubs to get in there and make a bid, but I doubt Liverpool will take any action in January.

Martinez has scored 27 goals in 49 appearances for Jaguares.

  2. we'll be too slow in the transfer market as per usual and miss out on any decent signings......

no point in hoping for decent players as we more than likely will not move for them, but rather opt for british mediocrity.....

  3. he is slow though he is powerful in the air, we need someone who is fast and good on counter attacking, Cavani is the answer. Kenny is vry slow to act if no funds then he must look for morgan and sterling as well.

  7. Still people believe liverpool has the attraction from a couple of years ago, but sadly we are in transition, we are building a team to challenge over the coming seasons. this year we have played very good football and other than some ordinary keepers having complete blinders against us, de gea, ruddy (norwich), al habsi, vorm, and QPR's third choice keeper radek cerney t o name a few. this is extreme bad luck but other than the totenham game we have taken the game to every opposition and no team other than that 1 game has a team deserved to win, all of them where for liverpool to take the game. this situation is drastically different to the one under hodgson and rafa in his last years. KK has made us into a team that is solid at the back, attacks a team no matter who they are and plays good football. the onyl thing he has left to sort is getting our strikers to score and it is this area that i know he is the one man that can ensure that we rectify it. I cant believe Liverpool fans are calling for KK to step down already, this is how bad some liverpools fans have got, I am sure some think that a managers job is as easy as football mananger!!!
