Liverpool loanee Joe Cole has been singing the praises of his Lille team-mate Eden Hazard, one Europe's most sought after players, and allegedly a transfer target for Kenny Dalglish.
In an interview with TalkSport, Cole enthused:
"He [Hazard] is a bit like Messi. There’s only one Messi and I don’t want to put pressure on the kid, but he’s like him: short, squat, powerful legs, great touch, he can finish, he’s got everything
"The best thing about him is he's still only 21, and he's definitely got another few gears to go up.
"He's a good lad as well; fearless. All the top players have that self belief and presence. He's a bit like Messi".
It doesn't seem like Cole will be trying to persuade Hazard to join Liverpool though:
"The best thing for him is to stay at Lille for as long as he can. He's playing for a good club, he's winning titles. We want him there, and the fans love him".
Given Liverpool's lack of European football, the chances of Hazard coming to Anfield are slim at best. His agent Marc Fourmeux yesterday revealed a long list or potential suitors, and, sadly, Liverpool was not among them. Said Fourmeux:
"There is much talk of an offer of €30m from Manchester City, which will see him remain at Lille for the next six months. Michel Seydoux [Lille President] is seeking €40m though.
"His future is in any case destined for a big European club like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City, AC Milan, Inter or Juventus."
If Liverpool were seriously in the running then Formeux would've surely named the club alongside the rest of the allegedly interested teams.

This guy, Eden Hazard plays the hard ball (get me if you can) Such players doesn't augur well for the club. We want players who like to come on their own freewill.
ReplyDeleteIs he 'a bit like Lionel Messi' in the same way Joe Cole turned out to be?
ReplyDeleteI don't get that hype around Hazard to be honest. Watched a couple of Lille's games to see how our Joe is doing there, and Hazard's been pretty much anonymous. Lille's average results in the league are 1-1. Nothing to boast of.
Hazard is a good player but certainly not worth 40 ml, but I am sure there will be clubs like Madrid and City even Chelsea who will be willing to pay a crazy amount to get him in,IMO Hazard will not be a regular starter if he moved to Madrid,Barcelona doesn't need him (got enough quality already),City can afford him but have the likes of Johnson and Milner on the bench already, Liverpool and Manu will not be willing to pay that much only place he will get enough chances is if he moved to Chelsea especially with Malouda and Kalou rumoured to be off loaded .
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry but wouldn't bother spending £40m plus unless the lads actually proven and playing in a bum league like France, can't see the point in spending it (I doubt that's fsgs philosophy now with uncertainty with carroll) comparisons to messi is ridiculous also, messi was world class at 18-19, this fella is 21 and still not snapped up, makes u think.. He's not that good or he'd already be at one of the big clubs.... Liverpool just need a forward and a winger, soldado and hoilett, I'd be happy with that...
ReplyDeleteI guess Cole is a wise judge, after the comment he got from Gerrard.........
ReplyDeleteWe were crazy enough to spend £35m on Andy bloody Carroll, so why not Hazard
ReplyDeleteWhere would we get the money from.??? kk has made sure kitty is empty...Carroll k..Henderson..downing...so lets not dream that we still have millions to spend....we will be having to do a Rafa from now onward..where you sell to buy...
ReplyDeletei hope we can send sterling to bolton for coyles tuition, then theres a multi million pound signing next season for freeeeeee
ReplyDeletejoe cole basically said liverpool aren't a big club..oh dear
ReplyDeleteIlickpoopoo (funny name), I can gurantee you that Dalglish will **** up Sterling.
ReplyDeleteTo be frank if I were a Black Player I'd be looking to get out!
BTW this Darrren Bent to Liverpool would be good but I dont trust KD anymore it's that simple.
^^^You are a tool
ReplyDeletei have watched Hazard a few times and he nowhere near Messi or Ronaldo. i would rather go for Adam Johnson. He fits all LFC criteria for transfer policy. He is young, British and gifted. spend your 40m on him. get in a defensive midfielder and another striker and we will well balanced.
ReplyDeleteuracunt but hey we all need one
ReplyDeleteAh me ballix. He'll sign for us. Fear not.
ReplyDeletelets try and loan tevez in and bring in ozil
ReplyDeleteandyteggart am with u on the two lads.
