REINA'S message to Torres and Meireles: "I wish you nothing but defeat..."

Liverpool face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this weekend, and ahead of the game, goalkeeper Pepe Reina has urged his team-mates to cut down on the mistakes that have cost the club at various times this season.

Stamford Bridge is always a tough place to go, and Reina acknowledged this:

"It's always tough to play there [at Stamford Bridge] but we have to be ready to get the result. We have to maintain our philosopy, and we have to be clever.

"We need to be ready from the very first minute, and make sure we don't make mistakes that can cost us"

Torres and Meireles are likely to feature in the game at some point; what kind of reception can they expect from Reina and the rest of the Liverpool team?

"After the game, I will wish them best of luck, but during the 90 minutes of the game, I'll wish them nothing but to lose".

Reina has played against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge 11 times over the last 6 years, and only two of those games ending in wins for Liverpool. Hopefully, the club can build on the 1-0 win from last season, and get right back into the top 4 mix.

  1. Despite some of the concerns about our form we're only marginally behind what I'd say should be minimum standards for the club (22 points = 2 points per game = 76 points per season and should = top 4) but if we're going to be serious about elevating ourselves into title contention then we now need to beat both Chelsea and City (or at obtain 4 points from the two games) to reduce their point totals and ensure that we aren't cut adrift before Christmas as usual.

The lop-sided 442 that we've seen recently isn't going to do it though, so hopefully Dalglish has been working on another plan over the last couple of weeks . And hopefully that plan isn't just sticking Mr. "Big Game" Kuyt back onto the right wing to mark Cole and Clichy/Kolarov!

  2. Not easy Reina, Chelsea is a formidable team and they dont have such handicaps like Lucas in the team. I think Torres will score agaist his old team.

  3. FU ASHFAH. CHELSEA ARE CRAP THIS SEASON. IF LIVERPOOL DID NOT DRAW SOME OF THEIR GAMES WE WOULD BE ABOVE THEM. WHAT WAS THE SCORE AGAINST ARSENAL AT HOME. LOST 5-3. WHAT WAS THE ARSENAL SCORE WHEN THEY PLAYED LFC. WE BEAT THEM 2-0 AWAY FROM HOME. HA HA .
    CHELSEA CONSIST OF OLD FOGIES.
