Liverpool take on Stoke today in a game that, on paper, is eminently winnable. Whilst it's true that the club hasn't beaten The Potters away from home in 27 years, there have been some tasty non-league/home victories along the way, so here's hoping for more of the same later on today.
Liverpool battered Stoke 8-0 in a League Cup match in 2000, which is the last time the club won at the Brittania:
Stoke 0-8 Liverpool
Liverpool 2-0 Stoke
Liverpool 4-0 Stoke
More of this, please!

Can anyone explain why Woy wasn't able to do this last season?
ReplyDeleteLack of funds, too much pressure, bad results....take your pick
ReplyDeleteJamie Carragher: Can we win the league or finish top 4 with him in the team? Jamie some stats on his previous two seasons tacles/tackles won etc would be great.
ReplyDeleteFailures Stoke v/s LFC for LFC fans:
ReplyDelete1= The referee need to be rewarded$$$ twice for 2 clear penalty not awarded to LFC-FA just bypass referee mistakes and LFC always penalised!!
2=Kenny starting formation was misleading, stoke played 3CB & carroll should have been included as from start..Kuyt was almost unpresent.
3=LFC played Hodgson style of foot, keep passing backward and long-passes from back which 90% out of target.
4=ITs HIGH HIGH & HIGH time to REST Carragher, he cant defend anymore, keeping making capital mistakes matches after matches, cant even pass a ball & 95% long-pass out of play.
5=Henderson has more given balls awards than making successful simple pass.
6=Adam lack fitness & selfish eager to score goal rather than team playing.
7=Team playing was nil as everyone except the strickers eager to score goals from long wasted shots...Ball possession was nil,LFC players cant keep the balls not even complete a pass, 90% pass made are given away...What the hell kenny, plz do needful Urgently!!!
Watched the game via a feed have to be
ReplyDeletehonest I’m disappointed.
But lets get this in perspective we did
create a number of chances but just weren’t sharp enough. Huffed and puffed and
feel the lads deserved a little better.
Today’s performance was still loads better
than the majority of games we played in the first half of last season.
This performance puts things in perspective
that we are a club in transition. Me father in-law who a Gooner said we would
loose today and I had a feeling we get a point.
The other positive from the negatives is
that we are conceding goals but they are individual mistakes rather than
system/team faults.
I do think Carragher is a legend but I
always worry when he gets turned/ or the ball is played over him. Would be quicker
to turn the Titanic at a port. He has
tremendous leadership qualities. Noticed he has been pulling players like this
for a while and getting away with it. This will be the season when he is gently
phased-out onto the subs bench as mentioned earlier.
To be a real title contender we need to
develop the ability to come back from behind. I think we will have a good season this year
but today result was a return to reality.
Looking forward to Steven G coming back and
would even suggest playing him on right wing. As I feel that Lucas and Adam are
okay as a central pairing. Interested in peoples thoughts on my comments.

ReplyDeleteyou make three very good points.
1 Today’s performance was still loads better
than the majority of games we played in the first half of last season.
In the second half we blew them away but lacked a real killer instinct. I will put this don to the international break and overlook any deficiencies as I believe things will be different next week.
2 Carragher
I've been screaming about the controversial topic of dropping Carragher for 2 years now. Carra fell from 'World class' to 'good player' in Rafa's final season and has shown no real signs of recovery since. Liverpool fans have a decision to make that as yet has not been made. Man utd move 'legends' on by the year which is why they are successful. In Fergies mind and the Man U's fans mind it is club first player second. I constantly hear that no player at Lfc is bigger than the club. With this in mind a lot of LFC fans will soon have to pull out a measuring tape because Carra and Stevie G's heads are almost poking out of the LFC roof.
3 Gerrard
Although I agree that Gerrard would be fantastically suited to the right side of our midfield it won't happen. Gerrard wants to play centrally and has openly admitted his dislike of playing out there even though in my opinion it is easily his best position. On the flip-side it is annoying to hear Gerrard's name mentioned when we lose. It has been happening for years even though Gerrard has done nothing for two years we still place all of our hope in him. The players on the pitch were more than good enough to beat Stoke today.
Whereas I do believe SG would be a plus if he is playing well, NO ONE in my team would be guaranteed a start. I like what kenny has done with our £35 million man as it shows Kenny will pick a team that gives his team the greater fluency. Hopefully the likes of Carra and Gerrard will also be placed into this bracket and will only be picked on merit as apposed to status.

above were supposed to be Jamie Carraghers stats since 2006...but look what happened. For anyone who's interested
ReplyDeletehttp://www.anfieldindex.com/989/jamie-carragher-stats-behind-the-man.html
it is quite an interesting read.
I cant wait until this website releases a positive story about our club. I know its "Critical Realism" but seriously, would it hurt to write something other than whinging and moaning for once?
ReplyDeleteCheer up FFS!!
