In a recent decision welcomed by all Liverpool fans, and football fans in general, the Information Commissioner ruled that full disclosure of all documents relating to the Hillsborough disaster would be in the public interest. This is inarguably correct, and any fair-minded individual would surely agree. However, the Cabinet Office has launched an appeal against the ruling to stop the documents being made available.
If successful, the Cabinet Office's appeal would stop (amongst other things) reports presented to the prime minister of the time, Margaret Thatcher, from being made public.
An e-petition has been created on the government's website calling for the "full disclosure of all government documents relating to 1989 Hillsborough disaster", and as we all know, if it receives 100,000 signatures, the motion would automatically have to be discussed by parliament.
As of ten minutes ago, the petition had pas 52,420 signatures, so if you haven't already, please head over to the site and add your own signature, and encourage everyone you know with internet access to do the same.

Whatever the nature of the documents under question, they must be made public, so please sign the petition now!
