1. Even half fit he looked very good when he came on and hopefully will give is exactly what we need in terms of range of passing and ability to break down stubborn defenses.

To get the best out of him this year he may well need Lucas and Masch in the team to do the dirty work and free him up to break down the opposition. This may mean Gerrard having to play as a wide attacker in order to fit him in the team.

What worries me is why we aren't helping our young players develop the basic skills of close control and confidence on the ball that the Arsenal players displayed.

What the hell is Babel doing in training every day as his touch continues to dreadful and for a 'senior' player his performance last night was dreadful.

Shame we didn't see Pacheo get in the squad last night as he is certainly doing the business in the reserves but great to see Eccleston get some reward for his excellent reserve team form. Both will be giving Babel a run for his money soon.

2. I have to say arsenal played extremely nice passing football, we were sadly outclassed again by their youngsters.
On a positive note, degen looked comfortable on the ball and confident pushing forward, spearing showed some nice touches - its just a shame he is so small as he gets lost in the middle slightly. Plessis was class hes a good player needs to be utilised more, gives a different dimension than lucas. Its such a shame that voronin and babel let us down, at times voronin was just running around hoplessly dangling his fat legs in front of their back four, if babel was 18 youd let him off for such bad touches and greedyness - but hes not - he needs to be loaned out to birmingham or somewhere where he could learn to hold the ball. Give me diouf over babel anyday.

3. It was a good game for the Liverpool youngsters to get some experience against a classy team. Many of the arsenal youngsters are on there way to becoming class players.

Whats a little concerning is how liverpools senior players forgot to arrive for the game! For most of the game they had between 6 - 8 international players but you would never say that watching the game. Those senior players like Voronin & Babel couldnt force themselves on the game. They lacked everything you would expect from them with no ball control or simple short passes. & it was Voronin fault the 1st goal came as he lost the ball near our box.

But Rafa will sort out all those players in time.

4. In sort out I hope that means ship out.

Degen did enough last night to move out of the need to be immediately shipped out group but is still probably on the long term list of players we need to replace. Clearly this takes time and money and can't all happen at once but there are a few players that we will be looking to replace with better in order to improve the team / squad.

Need to improve upon Existing youngster able to fill gap
Voronin Ngog
Babel Pacheo
Lucas Spearing / Plessis
Degen Kelly
Dossena Darby

Lucas is probably the most controversial, I have never been a fan but he is getting better. The issue is they all blow hot and cold, sometimes they start to fire and you think lets give them one more chance but the reality is if we want to improve we need to replace are weakest links.

For me the two key signings we need are new top striker to replace Voronin and another tough all round centre midfielder to drop Lucas into a squad player.

Upfront is a real weakness compared to the other big teams who all have 4-5 very good strikers on their books.
