VIDEO: Daniel Pacheco - Liverpool's best youth prospect?

With Youth player Daniel Pacheco signing a new three year deal this week, here's a reminder of what Liverpool fans can (hopefully) look forward to in the future.

I really hope to see Pacheco given some chances in the first team this year.

Hopefully Pacheco and NĂ©meth will break through this season but with the current system LFC is playing, SG and FT in front, it will be harder than ever. YNWA

  3. Well I never....a non-negative Liverpool (sorry u clearly are) article.

  4. There are plenty of positive articles on this site.  Perhaps you shouldn't have such selective blindness 8-)

  5. I agree, it will be tough.  I just hope Rafa does what Wenger usually does and uses youth players in the Carling Cup.  Why not?  What does it matter?  It would be great experience for them and the CC is the least of Liverpool's priorities.

  6. Pacheco is Silk...the guy is best just behind the main striker....free role will fit his game play-Gerrard's role....
The lad has a great future...i guess he'll bring in more creativity in our game but he's lightweighted...

Why are all our youngstars lightweighted...pacheco,nemeth,ngog,lucas, spearing...i just cant understand...

  7. Good point - many of the young players do appear to be pertty lightweight. Surely there must some physically strong, creative young players out there.  I hate to mention his name on this site, but Wayne Rooney's physical strength at 18 was one of the key reasons he was able to make a big splash so early.

Having said that, Michael Owen was no heavyweight when he broke into the team.  If Rafa doesn't give these guys chances i don't see how they'll build up the necessary strength.  Ferguson wasn't afraid to use Macheda last season; let's hope Rafa is similarly fearless this season.

  8. I think rafa will give nemeth , pacheco and Kelly more games most especially in the Carling cup...also against weaker team when we are already at least 2 - 0 up...and he needs more creativity...he'll introduce Pacheco...

  9. El Nino, I totally agree purely not just down to the fact that we are one and the same! Our youngsters do have talent, but do look a little on the small and skinny side. Look at Macheda, Wellbeck, Evans, can all handle themselves. Even the Arsenal boy Wilshire who looks small, seems to be able to mix it. Ngog I think has neat touches, good finishing ability could be the next Anelka, but lacks explosive power. That is what i think is missing. Our youngster don't seem to have the turn of pace, that rifle of a shot (apart from Spearing) that Gerrardesque ability to burst through the defence. Ok, this can be developed, but there needs to be signs of this by 18 yrs old.

The only one of our youngsters that looks like he's had his Shredded Wheat is Martin Kelly and I think that he can adapt the quickest out of all to the Prem. Big, strong, decent pace, willing to get forward, good defender, has the potential to play the Masch role. In fact, I can't see why he can't be 4th choice if Evans is 3rd choice for Scum. Kelly has more power, is quicker, has better ability on the ball and going foward, but lacks the tactical knowhow and positioning of Evans. But this will come with more games. How did Evans get his chance? Injuries to Ferdinand, so why can we not use Kelly for emergencies and save some millions. Isn't that what kids are for, to fill in the gaps.

Pacheco if he goes on Cartman's Weight Gain 3000 beefcake diet, he could be awesome. Defo a No. 7 or No. 10. Did you see him play pre-season in the Xabi role, he was brilliant (OK against rubbish oppostion) but the boy has talent. Beef him up a little, just so he is as strong as someone like Messi, you know those small players with low centre of gravity that you just can't shake off and he can be a star.

Jamie, i love the Moyes morph into gollum gif, but your columns are often too negative to be honest. Good to see a more positive one.

  10. I love that Moyes/Gollum gif - it cracks me up every time I see it :-)

We'll have to agree to disagree on the tone of my articles though; I see myself as a realist, not negative.

Agree about Pacheco et al - put some weight on them and their chances of making it will improve.

  11. Little Dani looks a special talent, and yes he is...eh...little. Let's not forget Lauri Dalla Valle - he's a meaty yunfella with unpredictable movement. Always a handful for defenders.

  12. you dont say. Jamie writing positively for once. ..Maybe this year we will win the title and rafa will quit like jamie wants.

  13. He reminds me a lot of Peter Beardsley. Same low centre of gravity, same short-stepping shuffling run, same vision, and even a similar build (once he fills out a bit).

  14. How sweet would it be to have Peter Beardsley in today's side...

  15. It's ok if our youth players are a bit on the small side.
Pacheco reminds me of Fabregas, small, great vision and passer of the ball and Pacheco seem to be able to dribble better than Fabregas.
If we produce the next fabregas, it will be great as fabregas is a world class player. They have the same background too.. out from the banks of Barcelona reserves.
Hope he'll begin his career at liverpool this season.

  16. Wenger has Wiltshere and look how he has rewarded him and the Gunners. If Benitez was just a bit adventurous..... I don't agree everyone would be on his back if the experiment failed (and by the way I don;t think it would) at least he would have tried with a player he already has, instead of seemingly always looking for someone else or someone new. However mark my words it won't happen and we'll have Voronin or Babel supporting Torres. I thought Babel would be our answer but he ai'nt up to it, Dutch international or not

  17. ha jamie, now that Nemeth is gone out on loan do you think there is any chance that benitez might give Pacheco a chance this season. i have wanted to see one of those 2 boys given a chance in the first team for a while now. i think because of pacheco's dribbling ability he could play behind torres, in a similar position to gerrard, but further up the pitch. i think we could have a better option in pacheco than if we had bought villa, given the chance. his vision for a through pass is very similar to benyune, and dribbles like messi, seeing him in pre-season he seemed to be a bit selfish, and i feel this shows how hard he was trying to prove himself, he also seems to have that bit of pace that i like to see in a player like him. so really i am wondering firstly if you agree with me on this, and also if you think benitez may give him the chance i feel he has earned?

  18. Hi Kopfan - completely agree with you about Pacheco.  He's an exciting prospect and has genuine skill, something Liverpool are lacking.  When it comes to benitez giving him a chance though, I can't see it.  He hasn't been given a chance before, and with this season so essential for Benitez in terms of winning trophies, I don't think he'll take a significant chance on any young player.  just look at Ayala - Benitez went out and bought Kyrgiakos instead of relying on him to cover LFC's minor defensive crisis.

  19. ha jamie, thought as much myself, i just think that torres and pacheco could learn to understand each other as much as torres and gerrard do, but as you said benitez wont take a chance on the youth he is constantly bringing in, i find it frustrating, as these players can see that he has no faith in them and that will not help their confidence and that is why we have almost as many young players coming in as going out, hamill seen as a big talent when we signed him, adn now he is gone, are we going to be saying the same about pacheco, or any of the other talented  youths coming through? i fear that just may happen

  20. lucas is not a young star.e shold be a bench player if kept around.i too believe pacheco should be given enough time plus ngong.we shouldnt have pluers like spearing.for what use any way?.

  21. Major crisis at liverpoo kop. Yank sugardaddies are bailing! Jamie has lost faith in football , more like now that benitez is out, no more reason to expect paychecks from texas

  22. Our future no.7 perhaps.

  23. Dani is a brilliant prospect but He's still too physically weak
