Deal Close? Liverpool now free to sign 'magnificent' £21m Brazilian who's 'like Dani Alves'

Liverpool are reportedly planning a summer move for one of Real Madrid's fringe players.

According to a report posted on Liverpool's official website:

* Liverpool have joined Juventus in the race to sign Real Madrid defender Danilo.

* Klopp is apparently a 'big fan' of the Brazilian right-back, and Real are 'willing' to sell for €25m+.

Liverpool have been linked with Danilo several times in the past:

* Jun 2013: During an interview on Radio Globo, Vasco Da Gama President Roberto Dinamite revealed that Liverpool were interested in signing Danilo. Globesporte Journo Jorge Luiz Rodrigues listened to the broadcast, and tweeted confirmation of Dinamite's claim.

* Feb 2015: Portuguese newspaper A Bola, claimed that Liverpool were tracking Danilo.

* Mar 2015: O Jogo reported that Liverpool sent scouts to run the rule over the Brazilian.

What kind of player is Danilo? According to Roberto Carlos:

"He is a lot like Dani Alves. Danilo is a very good, complete full-back. He defends well and attacks well. He has lots of quality. He also adapts to things very easily and I’m sure he’ll do well".

Unfortunately, Danilo has not lived up to Roberto Carlos' lofty billing, and with just 16 appearances all season (only 9 in La Liga), he is struggling to hold down a first team place under Zinedine Zidane. Plus, according to Spanish newspaper AS:

"Danilo was whistled by sections of the crowd...prior to kickoff against Real Sociedad. Following poor displays and two own-goals in three games, Danilo also had his first touch jeered supporters".

Once a player loses the fans, it's hard to recover. Worth a bid this summer to test Madrid's resolve?

* Jun 2015: Hailed by Real President Florentino Perez as a 'magnificent player'.
