Next Mane? Liverpool reps fly out to watch 'excellent' €17m attacking sensation. Sign this summer?

Liverpool are reportedly tracking one of Ligue One's most promising wide players.

With very few viable wing options in the senior squad, Jurgen Klopp will hopefully try and rectify that in the summer transfer window, and according to a report today in the Liverpool Echo:

* Liverpool have sent scouts to watch €17m-rated Lyon winger Maxwell Cornet in action.

* Jurgen Klopp has been receiving 'favourable reports' from his scouting team over in France.

Some info about Cornet:

* 20-year old left-winger, who can also play on the right, and up-front. Contract expires: 2021

* Scouting Report"Brutal combination of power and pace. Tremendous foil for leading scorer Alexandre Lacazette, a player he may eventually eclipse".

* Lyon: 23 goals/assists in 77 apps (One every 176 mins)

* Jan 2015: Bernard Lacombe's assessment: "In front of the goal, he [Cornet] is excellent. He reminds me of Florent Malouda".

* Jan 2015: Ex-team-mate Bouna Sarr enthused: "He's a technical, fast-moving striker, with the qualities to play on the wing. He is a clever player who sneaks into spaces".

* Jul 2016: No 37 on Four Four Two magazine's '59 Best Wonderkids in the World'.

* Jan 2017: Cornet on his performances: "For an attacker, stats are vital. I want to show every weekend that the coach can count on me".

Sadio Mane aside, there's a serious lack of devastating pace in Liverpool's squad, and as Mane has shown this season, pace in the final third adds a completely different dimension to LFC's attacking play. A possible understudy for Mane and/or Philippe Coutinho?
