Anfield Update: 'Brilliant' £40m destroyer wanted by Klopp rejects new deal; transfer to Liverpool this summer?

(Potentially) good news for Liverpool: one of Jurgen Klopp's recent targets may be available for a transfer this summer.

Last month, the Liverpool Echo claimed that Liverpool were 'tracking' Monaco DM Tiemoue Bakayoko, and according to Sky Sports over the weekend:

"Tiemoue Bakayoko has rejected a new contract at Monaco [and] the 22-year-old midfielder is expected to leave the French club this summer".

Some info about £40m-rated Bakayoko:

* 22-year old Defensive-midfielder. Contract expires: 2019.

* Monaco: 73 apps in the last 2.5 seasons. Currently averages 21 games per season.

* Injuries: 27 games missed in the last two years (Hamstring and knee injuries).

* Scouting Report (Strengths): "Combative midfielder. Excels at breaking up play. Excellent tackling ability. Strong aerially. Energy, selflessness, and ferocity of the midfielder are a driving force for Monaco".

* Nov 2016: Hailed by Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim as a 'brilliant' player.

* Sep 2016: Bakayoko admitted: "My goal, ultimately, is to play in one of the top five clubs in the world".

Are Liverpool currently one of the 'top five clubs in the world'? Based on aggregate performance over the last five years, probably not, but that may change over the next couple of years. £40m, though? Give me a break.
