Disaster for Klopp? £77m Liverpool duo miss training; 'excellent' midfielder suffers new injury 'knock'

Liverpool face Southampton tomorrow, and ahead of the game, it looks like there may be continuing injury worries for two of the club's key players.

Philippe Coutinho and Nathaniel Clyne both missed training on Monday, and neither appear in official photos of last night's training session.

After recent injuries, both Clyne and Coutinho returned to Jurgen Klopp's starting lineup for Saturday's home defeat to Swansea City, and if they're both missing training again, it suggests that there may be some injury blowback and/or recovery issues.

In his pre-match press conference yesterday, Klopp insisted that the team has no new injury worries, but when asked about Jordan Henderson's fitness, he admitted that the captain is playing through the pain barrier:

"He got a knock [against Swansea] It’s not the moment to feel nothing, he always feels a little bit, but he can cope with it.”

On the plus side, Joel Matip participated in Monday's session, and he did so despite playing for the U23s on Sunday, so it's looking highly likely that he'll return to the starting XI tomorrow, with Ragnar Klavan probably dropping to the bench.

* Hendo: Described by Steven Gerrard as 'excellent'. Coutinho and Clyne: Combined worth = £77m (CIES)
