Anfield Boost: 'World-class' striker wanted by Klopp confirms transfer to 'Liverpool' could happen 'if there are offers'

Liverpool target Sardar Azmoun has responded to rumours about a possible transfer to Anfield.

When asked this week about Liverpool's interest, Azmoun told reporters:

"Ajax, PSV or Liverpool? I have not received any offers, but if there are [offers], then I will look into it, whether it’s come from Liverpool or other clubs.”

The story so far:

* Oct 2016: The Guardian claimed: "Liverpool have monitored Azmoun and are considering an offer".

* Nov 2016: ESPN reported: "A source has told ESPN that Azmoun would be keen on a move to Liverpool".

* Nov 2016: Azmoun's agent, Mehdi Hagitali, told ESPN: "I read about the interest from Liverpool. If some proposals come, we will look at them."

Some info about Azmoun:

* 21-year old striker. Contract expires: 2018. Spent three years at Rubin Kazan.

* Kazan/Rostov: 33 goals/assists in 87 apps (One every 132 mins). 15 goals in 20 games for Iran's national team.

* Scouting Report (Strengths): "Outstanding dribbling skills, game-reading ability, astonishing control on the ball, superb eye for goal and marvelous finishing power are his main attributes".

* Scouting Report (Weaknesses): "Slender physique does not allow him to get into one-on-one challenges with stronger players. Easily tripped or brought down".

* Jun 2015: Azmoun admitted: "I'm also in love with English Premier League and it would be a dream for me to play in England."

* Oct 2015: Iran boss Carlos Queiroz raved: "He [Azmoun] is world-class. The way he moves the ball is really brilliant".

With the greatest respect, it's nonsense to suggest that Azmoun is 'world-class', and there's no evidence to back up that assertion. Gross hyperbole aside, though, is Azmoun a viable January target?
