Done Deal 'Soon'? 'Excellent' £13m star drops massive Liverpool transfer hint. Offer made already

Liverpool are currently linked with a move for 'excellent' PSV Eindhoven left-back Jetro Willems, and a new development suggests that the Dutch defender is keen on a move to Anfield.

The Reds were first linked with Willems last summer during the dying throes of Brendan Rodgers' reign, and on Wednesday, The Telegraph claimed that the club is back in the race:

"Liverpool have made a £13m bid for Jetro Willems [who] is a good friend of Georginio Wijnaldum".

Willems had earlier fuelled speculation of a move with the following tweet in response to Wijnaldum signing for the club:

"I wish you all the best at your new club my friend, we'll see each other again soon!".

Now, Willems has posted an image on Snapchat that strongly hints at something happening behind the scenes:

Willems has photoshopped his head onto Wijnaldum's body, and it's pretty clear he's implying that a transfer is close. Why else post such a picture?

Alberto Moreno was up to his usual, tricks during the 1-0 friendly defeat against Chelsea, with one particularly brainless lunge hammering home yet again the urgent need for a new left-back. Is Willems the answer? His stunning creative stats are on a totally different level to Moreno:

* PSV: 10 goals/31 assists (41) in 160 apps (goal/assist every 311 mins). 15 apps for the Dutch national team.

* Last Two Seasons: 26 goals/assists in 61 games for PSV (Goal/assist every 179 mins).

Defensively, Willems is also superior. Stats over the last two years:

* Willems: Superior success % for interceptions, blocks, clearances, and aerial duels.

* Moreno: Superior success % for tackles (Plus slightly better passing accuracy).

At this point, anything is preferable to going into the season with Moreno as first-choice, and if Willems' hint is anything to go by, the club will have a new left-back in the very near future.

On a related note: give the club's full-back situation, allowing Jon Flanagan to go on loan is a ridiculous decision. Flanagan isn't the flashiest defender, but he's a solid option, and provides great cover in both full-back positions.
