Confirmed Liverpool Team: £26m misfit finally dropped; Southampton hero out; Bad news as Coutinho misses out

After his midweek heroics against Southampton, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has taken the sensible option of starting Daniel Sturridge on the bench for today's Premier League league game with Newcastle United.

FULL TEAM: Mignolet, Clyne, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno, Lucas, Allen, Milner, Ibe, Firmino, Benteke

SUBS: Bogdan, Toure, Henderson, Sturridge, Lallana, Origi, Randall

NEWCASTLE: Elliot, Janmaat, Coloccini, Mbemba, Dummett, Sissoko, Anita, colbak, Wijnaldum, De Jong, Cisse

* Allen deservedly keeps his place after his impressive performance against Southampton.

* Lallana is finally dropped to the bench. What else can he expect after failing to score a single league goal in 14 hours of football this season?

* Benteke and Firmino come back into the starting line-up, and after two poor performances in a row, the Brazilian needs to step up today in the absence of Philippe Coutinho, who remains injured.

* Can is suspended, which means Milner comes back into the team.

* After his hat-trick on Wednesday, it's a little unfair for Origi to be dumped back on the bench. If scoring three goals doesn't keep you in the team, then what's the point?

Probable formation:

---------------- Mignolet
Clyne ---- Skrtel -- Lovren ---- Moreno
------- Milner - Lucas - Allen
----------- Firmino - Ibe
---------------- Benteke

Liverpool are on a high after hammering Southampton 6-1, but this game is not a done deal by any means. Newcastle's team is full of good players, and if they perform, it will be a tough game for then Reds. There can be no room for complacency.
