Sign ASAP? Klopp wants 'incredible' powerhouse to replace £60k-a-week Liverpool star. Interest confirmed last season

Last season, FC Cologne goalkeeper Timo Horn confirmed Liverpool's interest in bringing him to Anfield, and new reports this week claim that the 22-year old is one of Jurgen Klopp's top transfer targets.

According to German newspaper Sportbild this week:

* Klopp wants to sign Horn as a replacement for Simon Mignolet.

* Horn has comparatively meagre €9m buyout clause in his contact, which Liverpool (and Klopp) find attractive.

Some info about Horn:

* 6'4 goalkeeper. Current contract expires in 2019.

* 113 goals conceded in 120 games for Cologne (0.9 per game/1 every 1.08 games)

* 49 clean sheets (40% of games). As a comparison: Mignolet has 33 n 110 games (30% of games overall)

* Last season: Went over 365 minutes (6 hours) without conceding a goal.

* Dec 2014: Horn - hailed as an 'incredible' goalkeeper by Cologne boss Peter Stoger - told reporters: "It's great to awaken the interest of a club like Liverpool, but it's not the right time for me to consider it."

* Dec 2014: Soon after, Horn's agent told Express 1: "We have been told about those [Liverpool] rumours, but no one contacted us directly"

* Oct 2015: When asked about the Liverpool rumours, Cologne sports chief Jörg Schmadtke told German newspaper Express: "Jurgen [Klopp] has not contacted us yet [about a transfer]".

* Harald Schumacher's assessment: "We always had players who control the ball and  attack quickly, so getting the ball to them [quickly] was always important. Timo does this superbly".

Distribution is one of Mignolet's fatal weaknesses, and it sounds like Horn is comfortable on the ball, and excels at playing out of defence, which is something Liverpool need at the back.

At the weekend, Mignolet showed again why it's a mistake to rely on him over a full season. He should've caught Scott Dann's initial header, or pushed it away from the danger area, but instead, he gifted it right back to Dann, who scored the winning goal.

Liverpool are also currently linked with Marc-Andre ter Stegen, and Victor Valdes, but which of the three is the best option?
