'Stroke of Genius' - Aldo hails BR handling of 'fearless' LFC star. Better than Sterling...?

Liverpool legend John Aldridge has hailed Brendan Rodgers' management of Reds starlet Jordon Ibe, who put in another promising performance during the club's recent 4-2 Capital One Cup victory over Notts County.

Ibe made his debut for Liverpool against QPR on the final day of the 2012-13 Premier League season, and after the game, Rodgers enthused:

"I thought he did very well. It's not easy playing at Anfield, his first game here for the first team. As the game went on he became better and better.

"He's got real potential and you can see he's a footballer. He linked up very well with young Coutinho and made some good passes and got some shots off"

Discussing Rodgers' decision recently, Aldo told the 5 Times Podcast:

"It was a stroke of genius from the manager to play Jordon Ibe in the last game of the season. Sterling has a challenge on now, and it should bring out the best in both of them. I’ve always liked him [Ibe]. He has blistering pace; directness; positivity; knows where the goal is, and can create".

Jamie Carragher is also a fan of Ibe, and in column this week for the Daily Mail, he observed:

"Ibe Made his Premier League debut on the day that I retired last May. He is a fearless young winger, quick and strong with an eye for goal. He has done well during the pre-season and I expect to be hearing a lot more about him".

Ibe and Sterling started together against Notts County, but in the Premier League, it's likely - as Aldo suggests - that they'll be challenging each other for a first team spot.

From watching them both in youth set-up over the last couple of years, Ibe arguably has greater potential than Sterling. He is more technically sound, a better dribbler, and seems to be stronger/more confident on the ball. Of course, end product is what matters, and at the moment, Sterling is ahead of Ibe on that front, but he has much more first-team experience at this stage.

Thankfully, it seems unlikely that Ibe will follow Sterling's lead and get involved in distracting off-field legal scrapes. He seems very grounded, and he underlined the influence of his family in an interview with the official site this week:

"They keep me grounded. My stepdad keeps me humble with football. When I've played good he doesn't really say anything - he says I could do better. He doesn't want it to get to my head, and my mum's pretty much the same. She doesn't care about the lifestyle I'm living, she just wants me to behave and do well".

  1. john Aldridge is not a legend ,jan molby is not a legend , john barnes is a legend, fowler, rush, gerrard, daglish ,carragher ,hyypia they are the legends

    ReplyDelete
  2. there are a few more as well , like souness , heighway, whelan and hnsen
but it is disrespectful to the real legends putting them in the same class as john aldridge

    ReplyDelete
  3. I think Ibe is a better all rounder. But Sterling as more experience on his side.
Long term I would really like for them both to claim a 1st team spot, one on the left and another on the right. However I know they both prefer to play on the left.

    ReplyDelete
  4. anyway, I tink ibe will be much better , sterling has no power or no brain and is the new pennant , ibe on the other hand can do whatever he wants , similar to c Ronaldo.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Also Jamie , how come you are ready to have sterling at lfc but not suarez ?
what sterling does off the pitch is a 100 times worse then what suarez has ever done.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Ibe all day long!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  7. plus how could people forget how sterling exploited lfc to get higher wages , this guy is the worst person at lfc and should be discarded right now

    ReplyDelete
  8. I'm not interested in what Sterling/Suarez do off the pitch, which is why I never write about personal stuff re players. Who am I to judge? I don't know them personally. Plus, we're never in possession of the full facts. If Sterling gets arrested, who knows what the truth is, so there's no point highlighting it. This site is about football, and anything football-related that happen off the pitch (i.e. comments made in the media re football)

  9. sterling new jermain pennant
    ibe new ronaldo

  10. In your opinion. In my view (and I'm sure many other LFC fans feels the same) Aldo and Molby are legends. To dismiss those two and their personal impact on the club suggests to me that you don't know anything about these two players.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Ibe looks to be the better prospect of the two but it would be foolish to write off Sterling as he is still developing and did play above the expectations of many last season.

    ReplyDelete
  12. You are in the minority. Many of the players you mention consider Aldridge a legend, as does the club itself (just listen to the 5 Times Podcast)

    ReplyDelete
  13. what the f*ck is wrong with you people??you may admire Ibe more than Sterling for his potential but that doesnt mean that you should write off Raheem.he's done a great job last season and this year, whether you like it or not,he's better in terms of premierleague challenge than Ibe.give your 100% faith and support to all of our players, not only the ones you like.
    You'll never walk alone

    ReplyDelete
  14. name one attribute sterling has other then pace

    ReplyDelete
  15. Gee, don't exaggerate or anything. No one has written Sterling off.

    ReplyDelete
  16. so is torres a legend? , Aldridge was only successful for one season as was torres .
if Aldridge is a legend , micheal owen is a massive legend

    ReplyDelete
  17. John Aldridge has a better goals:game ratio than ANY other LFC striker, even Rush. Molby was majestic during his heyday.
    Sorry, but you're mistaken/confused/misled/misinformed.

    ReplyDelete
  18. hahaha, no wonder they call us deluded

    ReplyDelete
  19. No. Do some research; Aldridge was successful for three seasons, not one (1987-1990), and his goals were integral to LFC winning the league and the FA Cup. 63 goals in 104 apps. Take Aldo's goals away and LFC would not have won the league in 1988, or the FA Cup in 1989.

    ReplyDelete
  20. anyone can score goals with barnes and Beardsley behind them even neil mellor
he should have scored 40 goals every year in the league

    ReplyDelete
  21. From what I have seen this season Sterling has stepped up. He scored a great goal on Tuesday and the way he played as a right back in extra time showed the kid got a lot of metal about him. People seem to forget that he is only 18 and im sure over time he will mature. It is an exciting time to have these two gifted wingers in our squad and im sure that they will both play a key role in the season to come.

Ps anybody that watched John Aldridge play his last match for Liverpool will know that he is a legend.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Like others here, I think both are very talented. Perhaps sterling has more natural ability with a football, but I prefer ibe's style. He seems more direct, and more effective in finding a killer pass. I worry that sterling sometimes seems to meander with the ball, and I think he has to keep on improving his goal return.Neither is ready for regular first team starts in a side aspiring for top four.
For that ambition, we need to go a step up in quality and consistency, to the likes of turan, Willian, etc.
I think our lack of a real threat on the left wing will be major factor in damaging our top four hopes.

  23. jan molby is a LEGEND And so is Ronnie Whelan - To suggest otherwise is rubbish

    ReplyDelete
  24. Ronnie Whelan is a legend
jan molby is an overated player who should never had played for lfc

  25. Have we signed BILL HUGHES YET ??

    ReplyDelete
  28. People like it or not the true fact Torres is a legend and his goal scoring record states that .

    ReplyDelete
  29. Let's agree to disagree. 'Legend' status is subjective, so further discussion is futile.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I think you have demonstrated why Aldridge is a legend when you mention Owen and Torres.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think there are different types of legends
    One ABILITY wise
    another is LOYALTY
Players like torres, owen and suarez are legends abilty wise yes
but then players like agger are legends for their loyalty

    ReplyDelete
  32. Molby and Aldridge played a major role in probably are greatest ever team in the late eighties which produced some of the best football I've ever seen at anfield, So in my eyes they are legends, ( how I wish I was standing on the kop these days watching the same team ) .

    ReplyDelete
  33. Way too soon comparing the two of them.
I still see Sterling as the better prospect, but let's wait until either of them rip their first pair of boots or at least having a full season to be judged on.

    ReplyDelete
  39. A high sperm count, ???

    ReplyDelete
  40. He was ok. For me he was nowhere near consistent enough, over a match let alone a season....
Although I will say he had moments that teased belief in his ability....

    ReplyDelete
  41. Lets be honest everything about sterling screams jermain pennant
really highly rated as a kid , both have lots of pace but lack strength and unpredictability as well as the fact that both are bad human beings

    ReplyDelete
  42. I am sure by reading 1 or 2 of these comments that some fans were not old enough to have the luxury watching Molby Aldo and whelan etc jan Molby was that good at finding team mates he could land the ball on a golf tea with a 30 yard pass he was not the most mobile but didn't need to be as his passing was that good.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Ibe has great potential. Sterling is in the transition from potential to first team squad regular. No one knows if both will be top players yet. It depends on how bad they want to make it. How much effort and commitment they show. They have a great role model in Steven Gerrard, still about the place. He's a great example of what you get with hard work and dedication.

    ReplyDelete
  44. How do you know Sterling is a 'bad human being'? You get your info about his personal life from the tabloid press. Who are you to judge? Please stick to football issues and cut out the pointless personal attacks. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  45. made me laugh really hard, well done mate :)

  47. sterlings former coach said that if he was not a footballer he would be in prison , he is wrong , sterling can end up in prison despite being a footballer and that is why he will fail like pennant
I met Jordan ibe and he is a fantastic person and can become anything he wnats

  48. Does Ayre realise its Will Hughes and not Bill Hughes ?? NO - of course not so there we are - Bill Hughes the Bootle Butcher is our new S Gerard and Ayre got him for £9 million - he is getting better

    ReplyDelete
  49. When I comes down to it, I think when a player at their peak decides to leave the club they seem to lose that legend tag. One my favorite players for Liverpool was Steve McManaman for 3 seasons he was incredible for the reds but when he left on a free he lost that tag and the same applies to Owen and Torres and Mascherano. I think the only players that has left like that and are still consider legends are Keegan and Souness.

    ReplyDelete
  50. this was probably the biggest rubbish of the last week

    ReplyDelete
  51. Sterling's still young enough to turn his life around. Maybe he'll find god or something, there are a few enthusiastic religious heads in the squad after all.

    ReplyDelete
  52. He looked a quality right back didn't he, after a nervous start.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I would not criticize ayre mate , you misled all of us when you said suarze was joining real Madrid and bale joining utd

    ReplyDelete
  54. Aldo and Molby not legends? Aldo is my all time hero for Liverpool getting rid of him in favour of Rush was a major error IMO. But I'm guessing you're too young to remember that.

    ReplyDelete
  55. wait if you take owens goals out lfc would not win the fa cup , 2 carling cup ,uefa cup
not to mention that Istanbul would never have happened without owens goals in 03-04

Very happy that we are close to signing Sahko, beast!(sky italia)

    ReplyDelete
  58. You heard it here first...Luis Suarez is a legend!

    ReplyDelete
  59. by the way.. did anyone notice sterling looks like he bulked up a bit.. Starting to put on real mass. Which is great to see. Gonna be tougher to knock him off the ball. Plus from what I saw last yr, he is a great ball winner. Prob why BR put him in the back to snuff out attacks. He's prob going to be that much stronger this year. I'm sure next year he's gonna be a little monster.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I don't know what it is about Sterling... he seems to be very comfortable in open spaces, but looks like he panics a bit too easily when in a tight space or staring down a bigger player. I guess it's understandable, but at the same time, in order for him to take the next step as a pro, he needs to be able to take on larger players because there will be many of them.

In my opinion, even though Ibe is younger and Sterling is currently more talented, I feel like Ibe simply shows more confidence when he's out there on the field. That gives me confidence that he's going to end up the better player in the long run.

But of course, they are both still very young. This is not a damning of Raheem.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I didn't vote because it's early days for both of them still. The fact that we can have this discussion though highlights something very interesting. When Sterling came to the club he became the next big thing, England's hope and all that jazz. When he made his debut people couldn't stop talking about him. He got called up for England and, obviously, Spurs wanted to sign him. Now, a year later, he has competition even in his own club from someone only a year younger. It shows that these superstars to be are not so unique at all. It means that it's not the end of the world if we lose out on Shaktar Donetsk's Sterling or AS Roma's. On Anzhi's or Ajax's. There are others. If we can have two youth players so talented that they can both force their way into the first team, there are bound to be more in every position you can think of, all over the planet.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Haven't seen much of Ibe, but looks like he has more potential - more confidence, and size wise can cope better. On the bright side, looks like Sterling is coping with the bigger players a little better.
BTW Yarmolenko picking up steam, 20M offer made according to daily star (no very reputable). However, BBC has something on their Sports day feed on this.

  64. Ha been off the site for a couple of days and come back to find people are actually questioning Aldo and Molby status as Liverpool players. Blimey aldo was so good that Juve thought we had sold them the wrong player. And if not for that then for his rant at the 94 world cup he must be a Legend. Molby was one of my favourite players back in the day he couldnt run but man could he play sheer class and anyone who has heard him speak will know he is Liverpool through and through and that is why he is a legend !

    ReplyDelete
  65. What are you on man? Molby was my favourite growing up, he made football look effortless.

    ReplyDelete
  66. He was sheer class. I cant even think of a player that plays like him now ?

    ReplyDelete
  67. Jamie. You praise Ibe football ability vs Sterlings ability , then you slate Sterling off pitch behavior and in the same time tell us what a real good guy Ibe is and in the the end you post an opinion poll about who will turn out to be a better player. Saying this opinion poll is biased against Raheem is an understatement. Speaking for myself, i have now idea who will turn out to be a better player.

    ReplyDelete
  68. 4eva LFC, LFC 4eva3:11 pm, August 29, 2013

I personally think that we are lucky to have them both and that former players should really not compare them against each other it's just silly to say that one is better than the other especially at such a young age, when they are ready to retire than far enough because we can seen what their journey has been like.

Now JK is there any substance to us being linked with this Ukraine boy Yarmolenko? or is this another one of those useless articles because he looks good but a little pricey.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Bad human beings? On yer Bike...

    ReplyDelete
  70. JK, I won't them both to succeed as it can only be good for LFC! The poll comes across a tad unfair!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Agreed!!! Want them to be at LFC and bring those days back for which LFC is known for. What a sight it'd be to see both of them playing on either wings with Coutinho in the center and feeding Yesil the passes that he'd turn into goals. I didn't vote for any of them because I want them both.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I get what you mean but for me Macca and Torres will always be Liverpool Legends.

We can argue all day long about how they left, why they left, the manner they left in, but they still the club a great service when playing for us.

    ReplyDelete
  73. This has to be troll because no Liverpool fan would ever say this about Jan Molby, that is of course he is a total moron who has never watched him play ever.

So you are either a Troll or an Idiot.. which is it?

    ReplyDelete
  74. really.. seriously?

So a 17 yr old wanting to get the best contract he can is 100 times worse then biting a player twice, being banned for 8 games and fined £40000 for being found guilty of racially abusing another player, going on strike to force his move though to Ajax and then the shameful attempt of tying to force the our club into selling him to our rivals is worse?

    Really?

    ReplyDelete
  75. I think he is talking about sterling punching girls

    ReplyDelete
  76. Until he has actually been charge and found guilty of an offense then he has done nothing wrong.

As far as I know he has yet to be found guilty of anything

    ReplyDelete
  84. Not sure at this stage. Ibe could easily, like most young players, stall in his development halfway through this season and next thing you know, that early hype will mean nothing. Happened to Sterling. So I'll give them a season or two, before getting too excited about them. Waiting to see how they develop their wing play to suit properly suit the team style, whether they truly have that tactical work ethic. Big question marks over Sterling in that regard

    ReplyDelete

  100. sterling needs to calm his off-field antics or he could destroy his career before it really gets going. ibe should watch and learn from his,to frequent, mistakes.

    ReplyDelete
  101. you are wrong on two counts.

    ReplyDelete
  102. agreed. rushy wasn't the same when he returned.

    ReplyDelete
  103. And I'm going to stick my neck out and get my head bitten off.. but talking about past players (wingers) The best winger we have ever had is Steve Mcmanaman, and if either Ibe or Sterling can match his achievements in football it would be fantastic..
Sterling is still young has guile (plays like a girl, not physically strong enough) takes to much time on the ball.

Ibe, is my preference to start of the two, willing to pass it more ,is stronger.... and is younger and not so greedy. I don't think either should be in the first eleven.. should come on the bench, still only young and they both need time mature.

    ReplyDelete
  104. My previous post seems to be lost, however, Molby and
Aldridge - class acts in their time.

(Dirty word here, close ears blinkered) My favourite player also a winger is Steve
McManaman, if either Ibe or Sterling could get close to what he did on the
pitch or the achievements he has earned in the game they would be a credit.

Sterling is not strong enough, and doesn’t know when to pass
(he will learn or not) shouldn’t be first choice.

Ibe is strong for his age, bodes well, can spot a pass and also
has pace, but is only 17 shouldn’t start games.

Both of these guys have great potential. but neither should
be starting a game in the PL.

    My vote was for Ibe

    ReplyDelete
  105. I agree with you. Sterling at the moment just doesn't have the composure to thread the killer pass or cross to help finish off an attacking play. It's different when he scores goals like he did vs Notts. Why? Because when he's turning defenders inside and out on the move, he doesn't really have much time to think, and ultimately has to play on instinct. That's why he pulled off that great goal, because he wasn't agonising over which technique to employ, or the best way to go about it. It's something I think every person who's played football can relate with, especially people in attacking positions like me (left wing). With some good coaching from BR, it's something which can definitely be fixed.

  110. relevent points ghost, but i love watching him play football,

    ReplyDelete
  111. I think we should hold our horses until LFC confirms we have signed them. Too many false alarms and false hopes during this transfer window. Lets hope LFC don't pussy foot over these deals and hope Spurs or Chelsea don't hijack our targets again.

In the meantime, its best not to get excited over these "potential signings".

    ReplyDelete
  112. Steve McManaman was quite a player and one of my favourites too. Between Ibe and Sterling, Ibe looks better. I was very impressed with him during pre-season. But, it is still early days and hopefully these 2 don't burn out.

    ReplyDelete
  113. ANDRIY YARMOLENKO real quality? Average skills not a very fast another KUYT on the wing.I thought we moved on from that type of wide man.AY is just a big hard working winger who cuts inside too much because he lacks pace to take fullbacks on the outside.I'm sure he excites some because he'd make a change from some of the midgets we've got in our squad.
YARMONLENKO for 20m would be a waste of money.I'd prefer another target or for the money to be banked until the winter window. We've made enough desperation signings recently that's resulted in flushing millions down the toilet!

    ReplyDelete
  114. Def agree with you on it being better to bank the money rather than spend on the wrong player. If Yarmolenko fits what we need then maybe he's worth it, but I don't know what plans BR has for the team. Seems like quite a different player to Mhkitaryan or Willian who are creative types who'll dribble at defence and be capable of setting up team mates. We need another Coutinho.

    ReplyDelete
  115. im referring to him being picked this year

    ReplyDelete
  116. I think there is zero chance of anyone hijacking the YARMOLENKO for 20m+ CHELSEA i think are done for this window and have signed a much better player in WILLIAN.SPURS are after better players and are on the verge of wrapping up the deal for ERIK LAMELA.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Like him too, and I'm sure he will add a few goals this year! He's fast and improved his game in preseason IMO. Looked like a senior player against the "smaller" preseason teams

    ReplyDelete
  118. Would anyone say yes to Kaka?

    ReplyDelete
  119. Well done you have put in a source. You can source it up as much as you like, your sources always seem to be very wrong

    ReplyDelete
  120. You know this coz actually you're an agent working on both deals? I suggest we have enquirer about sahko (and then ran away as PSG wanted money and not peanuts) and scouted yarmolenko (and decided he will probably cost too much and 7th is good really)

    ReplyDelete
  121. liverpool4life56510:55 am, August 30, 2013

Yeah;) but this shows you are not reading what I'm saying, when I say things I always put my source, sahko deal is close we've offered €13 million now we also want llori. If you want o be negative go for it, just not to me. Thanks:)

  124. Its getting desperate. But maybe not that bad. But saying that Chelsea have taken a punt on eto'o. Wages would be a factor. Plus the story has come from someone who should stick to selling sports goods, instead of B.S.

  125. whats going on i go away for a week or two ,and its all gone to pot ,jk,s away for a few days with the biggest game of the season upon us ,mr ayre has gone on holiday and is expected back on the 3rd of september,oh well at least none of them will miss our marque signings;-)

    ReplyDelete
  126. welcome back Jason :-) three wins all lucky at that but even you must agree its a good start?

    ReplyDelete
  127. cheers mate great start points are all that matters, lets hope it continues sunday re mr ayre possibly being a bit harsh ,he only as two holidays a year ,he and fsg have both agreed the best time to take is next one,is for the whole month on january

  128. We are not Chelsea or Spurs. AC Milan are after him btw. He's a promising player probably not worth £20 million but we have left it that late due to missing out on other targets that's what we will have to pay.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Agree but when players are odds on to sign then it usually means there on their way.

    ReplyDelete
  130. He is a striker that can play on the left side of a front three. Scores and creates goals and yes he does work hard for the team. Great in the air and he has not got lightening speed but he is quick for a 6ft plus player. Great signing imo. Offers us something different which we are crying out for.

    ReplyDelete
  131. As good as Coutinho is we don't want all our attacking players to be the same build as him or we defo will be light-weight. Ability wise all day long but Yarmolenko is a good player and who knows how he would do. Every transfer is a risk.

    ReplyDelete
  132. haha it will save them some money or get us some decent players in. Can't wait for Sunday always positive when we play the scum but i'll be nervy as hell watching.

    ReplyDelete
  133. I'll guess we see who signs what in 3 days time

    ReplyDelete
  134. I don't think BR confirmed we made a bid, he said we were interested but never got to talk to the player. How are you proved right on Wilian, again no proof of bid, i'm sorry the club never said we bid so it's just paper talk to me. And Costa is just a massive smoke screen.

I hope you are proved right and that I am wrong, but telling me we tried to sign players proves you right then we have low standards on how to improve the squad. I don't care about bids or no bids, i want quality players to be signed, this in my view will not happen

    ReplyDelete
  135. Good, the world needs dreamers

    ReplyDelete
  136. What's your thoughts on the squad at present? Strong enough to get top 4?

    ReplyDelete
  137. To use one of your own arguments from previous Suarez debates - if Aldridge hadn't been there, someone else would have. Don't get me wrong; I love Aldo, and agree he is a legend - but if he hadn't been playing, another striker would have; and who's to say that player wouldn't have scored more than him? "Take away his goals and we wouldn't have done xxx" is an argument you have dismissed in the past.
    Just saying...

    ReplyDelete
  138. I think there are better options available to us and hope we don't waste money on a 4th choice option that isn't good enough. You think he would be a great signing.Whatever, the matter is subjective but I've seen this all summer on this forum.
LIVERPOOL get linked to a player and fans look at whoevers stats and watch a couple of YouTube videos. Then come on here and try to build a watertight case on why the latest player would be such a great signing for LFC.
Everytime I've seen YARMOLENKO he operates on the right wing. What games have you seen him play on the left?

    ReplyDelete
  139. Welcome back Jason. You opinions, while I don't always agree with them, are just as valid as anyone else's. Plus you make me laugh :-)

He did, then he said but he couldn't speak to the player. But that's the past,IIori is coming in for a medical anyway, young CB 20,pace,strong in the air, and sahko deal is advanced, just be patient. This last few days will be hectic for the liverpool medical team.

  141. Jordan Ibe is more much better than Raheem Sterling. His more matured, cool and genius from Sterling.Sterling is faster in dribble ball but too long keep the ball at his boot. This style will let defender can run down into fortress.Ibe more to attract many defender to follow him and he will through pass the ball in the right times. If i have to make choice,i will prefer to Ibe.

  142. If Aldo hadn't been playing, some other striker would have - and who's to say he wouldn't have done better than Aldo, scored more goals, made more assists... Don't get me wrong, I love Aldo and believe he's a legend. But the "Without his goals we wouldn't have won xxx" line is one you yourself have dismissed in the past, quite openly.

IIori, sahko(close to agreeing a 13.5 million deal for him) given, Moses or yaramolenko.

    ReplyDelete
  146. He moves well with the ball attested to by the amount of frees he earned last season.
Funnily enough if he had not played in the first team last season you would be asking why not?
He is still a kid and much can happen as to how good he could be in years to come is obviously up to him and is too young to write off.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Do you really need to ask that question...? If we had Messi and Ronaldo in that squad we'd still be mid-table fodder....

    ReplyDelete
  148. Also, I think Ibe is physically much stronger & more suited to English games than RS. Not that Raheem isn't talented, he can also become a world class winger, but I think his off-field life has to be more controlled for that. Agreed personal issues has nothing to do with how good a player someone is, but it does matter when it comes to the development of teenagers. A certain Paul Gascoigne comes to mind, who definitely was more talented than either of these two.

  149. Jason carr legend
funny how Jamie leaves right when Jason comes back

    ReplyDelete
  150. People say spurs are much stronger but I don't think they are
    suarez vs soldado suarez
    sturrridge vs lamella sturridge
    coutinho vs eriksen coutinho
    sterling vs lennon sterling

    ReplyDelete
  151. Paulinho looks like an overated Jordan Henderson
if we sign yarmalenko we beat chadli as well
not to mention the fact that our team chemistry is so much higher

    ReplyDelete
  152. its just about strong enough to stay out of the bottom 4

    ReplyDelete
  153. it certainly does, there is enough negativity in the world. I'm not saying going off betting odds is reliable but they don't usually get it wrong, they certainly don't like taking a bashing so that is enough of a reason to be a positive dreamer.

    ReplyDelete
  154. you could of been gone 2 years and you still wouldn't of missed any marquee signings....

  155. it must be because there crap hahah

  157. take what walter mitty m8 says with a pinch of salt

    ReplyDelete
  158. Like you said it's subjective and imo he looks a good player. I've only seen him twice live and he played once on the left and once on the right and even though he didn't score he played well both times against a rough tough battling Stoke team which imo shows he could cope in EPL. His Youtube clips are always only going to show his good bits and he assisted and scored just as many from the left as he does from the right. £20 million for a player who has hit double figures for the last three years and has a decent assist ratio whilst playing across the front three not to shabby, he is defentiantly better than Aspas, Borini, Carroll and Downing. He is defentiantly worth £10-£15 million and they don't want to sell him as he is one of the top prospects in Ukrainian football that's why it will cost around £20 million. £15 million less than Carroll was ;-) Who would you spend £20 million on mate?

    ReplyDelete
  159. made me giggle did that hahah

    ReplyDelete
  160. Not to sure if i should go off odds but here's a little info for you all. 1/6 for Sakho, 2/5 for Yarmolenko, 4/9 for Given and Moses is now 2/1 which i'm sort of glad about, i would have only took him on loan to be a squad player. Can't find any odds on Tiago Llori but if you believe BBC then they seem quite certain him and Sakho could be joining in the next 48hrs. Has BR and FSG saved there business to the last minute to give us something to be excited about or is it just a BIG pip dream? Only time will tell.....

    ReplyDelete
  161. lets just hope we get a little bit of luck and stick it up them

  165. cheers billy if we all agreed they would be no point in having posts ,glad i make you laugh ,i feel like crying, what is happening to our great club, after my 3 sons its the most important thing in my life (not a over statement )my kids are my blood and lfc is in our blood YNWA

    ReplyDelete
  166. If the defense looks like it will be sorted now we need an attacker! Get that in and it will be a good window. I just hope the spending doesn't stop with 2 defenders, which I would argue isn't really necessary

    ReplyDelete
  167. ANTOINE GRIEZMANN would be a good signing. He gets goals, plays in a top league and is at a good age where I see plenty of potential to get even better. He would cost around the 15m mark.
KEISUKE HONDA would be a more versatile option that could play on the wings or centrally. He creates and scores and with his contract situation we could get him on the cheap.Shirt sales alone this signing would make sense but this player has incredible ability too.
XHERDAN SHAQIRI is a very good player. He made a name for himself for BASEL in a wide position. But I watched a couple of BAYERN MUNICH's pre season matches (Audi cup) and like HONDA he's got the game to play a central position if needed.I was surprised by his passing ability.
JULIAN DRAXLER from SCHALKE.He recently signed a new contract but we both know they mean nothing apart from a wage increase.Another extremely talented player in the seemingly never ending German production line.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Oh dear, I do hope not! Still, if they are crap, at least THEY'RE grammatically correct :-)

    ReplyDelete
  169. I'm a big fan of Draxler but he doesn't want to leave yet. Shaqiri apparently we have already inquired about him but Bayern don't want to sell. Tbh I've never heard of Griezmann and the quick look I've had he doesn't impress me that much, looks a bit skinny. Honda has apparently already signed a pre-contract with AC Milan to join in January because Milan were being assholes and they don't want to sell to them but Honda wants to go. The sorry fact it is, is that the likes of Draxler and Shaqiri will get offers from CL clubs and we already know we can't compete in that department. That's why Yarmolenko or your guy Griemann are the realisic targets but on them two imo Yarmolenko is a better choice.

    ReplyDelete
  170. It's possible to get a high standard of player through our doors without CL football.SPURS have got CL quality players with Europa cup football.
DRAXLER may say he wants to stay like COUTINHO said when he was at INTER but you make a bid and see what SCHALKE say.
The HONDA rumour i'm not his agent so i don't know the details of any concrete deal between him and AC MILAN.SHAQIRI will be a impact player for BAYERN this season these players always have a price that the selling club will release him for.
The LIVERPOOL echo has said "there is no truth in reports that the Reds have bid £19.7million for DYNAMO KIEV winger ANDRIY YARMOLENKO".I hope it stays that way!
