LFC Dreamer: BR eyes €17m star who urged Reds to make 'formal offer'

Liverpool are reportedly back in the hunt for Senegalese striker Moussa Sow, who plays alongside ex-Red Dirk Kuyt at Fenerbahce.

According to multiple sources in Turkey today, the club is willing to sell Sow for around €17m, with Liverpool interested in signing him.

The 27-year old goalscorer has been linked with the Reds several times over the last year:

Nov 2012: Sow confirmed Liverpool's interest. He told reporters:

"Both Arsenal and Liverpool had tried to sign me before I ended up in Fenerbahce."

Jan 2013: A report in popular Turkish sports magazine Fanatik claimed that Liverpool had put in a €15m offer for Sow.

Jan 2013: Speaking to Sky Sports, Sow revealed his admiration for Liverpool:

"Liverpool, well, that is a dream club. Anyone would be happy, scoring goals in front of the Kop can be the highlight of a career".

Mar 2013: In an interview with French newspaper Liberation, Sow issued a 'come and get me' plea to Liverpool:

"There is a lot of talk. Everyone knows I want to play in the Premier League one day. If Liverpool made a formal offer and if my club accepted I would be happy to play in England"

May 2013: Fanatik reports that Sow is one of Liverpool's 'top targets' for the summer transfer window.

Fenerbahce are banned from next season's Champions League for match-fixing offences, so it's no surprise that some of their top players plan to consequently leave the club.

Sow clearly likes the idea of playing for Liverpool, so if the Reds are genuinely interested, it could be a good deal for both clubs.

  2. Mario Gomez was sold for 15M , why did'nt we buy him. Sow is good, but we need a sure shot to stay in the hunt. Cannot understand why Liverpool did not try for Gomez

  7. The system we play we need someone who gets more involved into things than Gomez.

    ReplyDelete
  8. we have to go for experienced and talented players, no more promising players now because they wont be enough to help us to reach top four. just have a look at the signings of the clubs above us

    ReplyDelete
  9. See your point. But my main point is that we need someone proven. We have no time for potential in the strikers department.

  10. Funny. Fans are begging for Benteke/Lukaku...I dont see much difference in Gomez and them

    ReplyDelete
  11. That ain't right, you know it.

    ReplyDelete
  12. gomez is a show pony......

    ReplyDelete
  13. dont put to much emphasis on player statements ...trust me non of these guys are up for noble peace prizes. For the most part they are prompted by there agents to say what ever will curry them favor or gain them more money

    ReplyDelete
  14. the main reason is those two had a field day against our defense last year completely bullying it . Im not sure if gomez has the power to do that

    ReplyDelete
  15. He's a very good player similar to Benteke in the sense he can hold the ball he says its hes dream not due to lack if ambition but he is a liverpool suporter

    ReplyDelete
  16. Have a look at their Birth Certs.

    ReplyDelete
  17. There will be no silk purses, if Sow's here. :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. is this yet another guy "on our list"? seems our "list" is twelve miles long or this is just BS rumors. Get benteke and a big boy defender.

    ReplyDelete
  19. You hit the nail on the head! Cannot imagine why we didn't go "all in" what exactly are we looking for?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Why not get Yilmaz Burak? He is a well proven goal scorrer and he fits perfectly well with Brendan Roger's way of football

    ReplyDelete
  21. we need a bigger name to replace saurez.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Not sure if he will make the difference in getting us into the top 4 or not.

Is he going to be that much better than our current players? Or is he more of a depth player? I'm leaning towards the latter.

  23. Fenerbahce can keep Sow.

Why have no other big clubs signed this fella yet?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Why have no big guys bought coutinho yet? What about sturridge why couldn't he get in the first 11 at Chelsea? The big moneyclubs aren't always right ...

    ReplyDelete
  25. lets just trust borini and spend money elsewhere......he was bought in as cover for banned/injured strikers lets trust in him and give him his chance now that we do have banned/injured strikers

    ReplyDelete
  26. The price should be lowered. Bony went for 12millions so I think we should be looking to get Sow for something around that mark. Under 13millions is my shout.

    ReplyDelete
  27. why not go for a defeder first .-. ?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Excuse me, Sow is 27 now and he has never played for Europe's elite...

    ReplyDelete
  29. We are not going to sign Sow.

    ReplyDelete
  30. sorry m8 but why dose he have to be more involved in things a strikers job is to score goals

    ReplyDelete
  31. i doubt we would go that high

    ReplyDelete
  32. totally agree with most of the clubs above us having new managers we could be in with a great shout this year but we must sign 2 or 3 proven players

    ReplyDelete
  33. sorry m8 he will never be a 20 plus striker a brilliant chance yesterday confirmed that for me ,

    ReplyDelete
  34. 17m???? doesn't show any ambition if we end up signing moussa sow over erikson on reported fee...we don't need anymore strikers unless suarez leaves...bring Erikson into the mix..he can be our marquee signing this season...please brendon!! possssssssssible!!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yeah, Borini will get his chance this season.

He showed some good movement in the game yesterday which is exactly what we require upfront. Just needs a good run of games under his belt and then his confidence will flow. Hope he has a really good season!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Benteke already said he only wants to go to spurs so give it up.. We are no longer one of the top clubs players want to go to anymore, at least for now until we get top 4. But I believe we will have a chance but it will be a fight between us, spurs and arsenal.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Totally agreed - I have yet to see anything to change my mind about Borini. Big waste of money there as far as I'm concerned.

If there are no tangible qualities that anybody is willing to complement you on, then you're not the type of player that should be 'trusted' to help take LFC forwards

    ReplyDelete
  38. So what? Cavani is 26 and only just now about to get his big move.

Besides, LFC aren't really amongst Europe's elite right now anyways!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Sow would be a much better centre-forward for us than Borini (or Aspas), and Sturridge is much better than Downing as a right-sided wide-forward. In the unlikely event that Suarez sticks around, that could then see him revert to playing as a wide-forward also and Coutinho playing in the hole behind the strikers. Aspas, Alberto, Sterling, Pacheco et al would then be the squad players.

So yes, that would be an instant upgrade on the team

    ReplyDelete
  40. Names are unimportant. Otherwise Torres would still be one of the most desired strikers around.

    We need quality players.

    ReplyDelete
  41. lol borini a 20 plus stiker loll made my day ....... what i meant to say was borini is cover for our 20+ striker ala suarez and hopefully sturridge .....borini is like kuyt he can put in a good shift ......if we splurge on one more striker that may not go well with sturridge or suarez .....they like to be the top dogs a little competition is healthy but too many cooks spoil the broth ........so let borini cover them if reports are true sturridge should be back for our third game and borini can then sit out

    ReplyDelete
  42. in borinins defence id say he is like kuyt happy to be a squad player who can do a job well if not exceptionally well like coutinho

    ReplyDelete
  43. but he cost to much to be cover

    ReplyDelete
  44. the worst thing is if we sell suarez we could end up with him being one of the main men lol

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yeah, I know we won't but if we do then that's the price range we should get him for.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Well we're not being linked to them as much as the strikers and the attackers. What do you think the fans would talk about and give an opinion on when we're not being subjected to it.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Kuyt was happy to feature anywhere, not to be a squad player. And we need masters of positions much more than we need expensive jack of all trade types.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Gomez has had field days against everybody consistently for a number of years now...

    ReplyDelete
  49. Exactly. I just don't get this antipathy against Gomez. There's no sound basis for it all. The guy has grabbed 189 goals/assists in 5 years! He is one of the most consistently prolific goalscorers in Europe, yet that's apparently not good enough.

    ReplyDelete
  50. quality covers are not cheap :P

    ReplyDelete
  51. well he really is a striker its rodgers who played him on the wings in his roma season he was always striker

    ReplyDelete
  52. but hes not quality either lol;-)

    ReplyDelete
  53. lets judge him after half a season lol .....

    ReplyDelete
  54. yea, and he doesn't look too hot as a striker either...

    ReplyDelete
  55. Yes, we should bring in some proven players, but not just any fancy name. It should be players who fit into our style of play.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I see a lot of difference between those players mentioned.

    ReplyDelete
  57. If you play route one, then yes. If you consider football as a team game, no.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Yep, that's why Bayern tried to get rid of him and only used him from the bench or when no-one else was available. But what do they know.

    ReplyDelete
  59. It's not a question of whether's better or not. I think that based on his history, he would be an improvement on some of our players.

But given the budget that BR is working with, I wonder if we'd be better off investing the money elsewhere, simply because we could improve other areas (notably defense) more than Sow would improve our attacking.
