Done Deal: LFC sign coveted goal-machine who smashed 5 goals in one game

Reports in Spain today claim that Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign exciting Barcelona winger Sergi Canós.

Last month, Spanish newspaper Sport reported:

"Liverpool have been negotiating for weeks in a bid to sign striker Sergi Canós, and his agent, Eduardo Rivera, already has a formal offer from the club"

Now, according to a report today in Barcelona-based newspaper Mundo Deportivo, which maintains very close links to the Catalan club, the deal is done. The report states:

- Canós and his family have agreed a deal to join LFC.

- The youngster is due at Anfield on the 20th May to sign the contract.

Canós is something of a goal-machine at Barcelona:

* In October 2012, the 16-year old scored 5 goals in one game against Badalona.

* He's scored a few hat-tricks over the last couple of years, including the following against Cornella:

This season so far he's grabbed 15 goals in 13 games for Barcelona's Cadet A team. TotalBarca describes Canos as follows:

"Sergi’s goalscoring abilities have been invaluable to his team’s progress this season in the absence of star striker Alexis Meva, who has only recently recovered from a long term injury. The Castellon born target man is a class act with the ball at his feet"

Liverpool have been linked with many Barcelona players over the last year, including Cristian Tello, Isaac Cuenca, Thiago Alcantra and Alexis Sanchez, but none of those deals ever looked likely to happen.

Well, it seems that the Reds have finally managed to sign a Barca player, albeit a 16-year old, who won't make a dent on the first team for a few years yet.

  2. Exciting transfer. Hoping he will be like Fabregas and become a great player for us in the future but hopefully not go back to barca.

  3. looks like the boy has close ball control and very composed. he's a striker and plays alot like david villa. sergi canos has confidence of dribbling with the ball in tight areas because he knows he has good ball control. BR knows were on a slim budget and that were cant really get the top champions league talent so surely he knows what hes doing and will only go for the TOP talent of academys and develop them into world class players. i think this boy will do so well in our reserves despite the fact hes 16. him and jordon ibe and strikers. but hopefully this summer we will buy De vrji 7M, alderwerield 8M, wanyama 9M, mkhtiryan 12M, ince 5M, benteke 16M. these are all talented players who will join the group now and grow together as a world class team. we also must give chances to ngoo, ibe, sama, canos in early fa & carling cup games but field them with strong players and our new signings so they can get the experience and win the game. hopefully should see at least one trophy next season. and a 4th place spot and some fantastic goals in front of the kop. #YNWA #cant wait for suarez to be back #3rd best in the world

  4. Who knows how good the lad will be? Before anyone accuses me of negativity I remember a young kid from Barca coming to England and looking outstanding in pre season games. His name was Dani Pacheco
