REVEALED: Liverpool fans want Kenny to sign this controversial STRIKER...

Last month, I conducted a survey on this site asking if Liverpool fans would be happy if the club signed Carlos Tevez. Given the Argentine's behaviour at Man City recently, and the fact he's a former Manchester United player (!), the results were very surprising indeed.

Over a thousand fans voted in the survey, and the results showed that 63% of voters would happily accept Tevez at Anfield. With Liverpool's renewed unity under Kenny Dalglish, and the importance of having everyone connected with the club pulling in the same direction, it's a strange result to say the least.

Here is a selection of opinions from voting fans taken from the commenting section:

Tornike Khomeriki: "I'd rather see us struggle for years with poor players rather than have brilliant ones with such character and mentality".

Jayone: "Well I've had enough of watching poor players for years now. Liverpool lost the moral high ground when we sold out and tried to chase the money at all cost - with that being the case I want to see the best players that we can get on the pitch"

Redhed17: "Never. He's made it quite clear that he doesn't want to play in this country, and if another English club was stupid enough to take him, then they would be asking for trouble imho. Great football player, but we win and lose as a team, and he is not a team player. Guaranteed goals, but what if you have him on the bench, or even worse, leave him out altogether? Mascherano was trouble, and Tevez would be 100x worse".

Rema: "I want to win the league. Tezez is pure talent. He was upset for being dropped…but his talent would be perfect for a partnership with Suarez."

Charlie: "Bottom line: he's quality. If he became available and expressed a desire to move to Liverpool we would snap him up in a second. All of you lot can get off your high horses talking about players with a 'bad attitude'...typical fickle fans, castigating anyone else you see as making immoral choices yet conveniently ignoring any of your own players' misdemeanors"

jsgill8: "No never. Tevez he loves to be by himself...he's not a team person...LIVERPOOL FC is a family, not about one person & his self-greed"

Mali341: "I wouldn't mind him for two years"

Liverpool were first linked with Tevez two years ago, and at the time I argued against the club signing him. He's been linked again with a swap deal for Andy Carroll recently, and I doubt it will ever happen, but it's interesting to see that many Liverpool fans would accept him at Anfield.

  1. Tevez is an great footballer but will he adopt the liverpool way, sadly no. For a player like this you will have to make an exception when things dont go his way, the liverpool way is everyone is treated the same and your expected to treat the club exactly the same. tevez falling into line is like saying ballotelli will not do something stupid on a football pitch!!

  2. As fans we have not been such angels either. The dispicable behaviour of booing and recent controversial footage shows that we are not qualified to judge others. Tevez would be great inspite of his short comings.

  3. No way should we consider signing him , no way , think i would actually stop going if we signed him .

  4. They would only consider swap with suarez and no one else...would love to have him here though....would be one way of kk winning over critics like me....i would take back most of negative vibes about kk if he would sign this calibre of player

  5. Why would Tevez sign for Liverpool ?
Don't we know that Liverpool is not in S. America ?

  6. Tevez has been out in the cold for a few months now, he's probably had a while to think about where his attitude has landed him. Whoever signs him next will possibly get a player with a renewed sense of focus for football. It could also go the other way, of course - I'd support any decision to sign him though...

  7. Forget his attitude, We treat our players with respect and make them feel special. Tevez is the world class striker we need to partner Suarez. I would bite City's hand off for 25m.
    Love the player!!!!!

  8. What is the truth in Liverpool offering Carroll ? Are we really trying to sell Carroll or these are all rumours ? Please, Jaimie throw some light on that......

  9. So they wouldn't consider a swap with Gerrard?

I'd love to have Tevez at Anfield but I can't see it happening

  10. Tevez would surely not be a viable long term option

He falls out with every club he's been at

However, a 6 month loan deal, to help fire us into Champion's League and for him to showcase his talents again, would be beneficial to both parties

For Man City, we play Spurs and Man Utd soon so he could help dent their title challenges, if he's fit. If he plays well they will recoup a larger fee in the summer, unless he is now perceived as damaged goods

  11. Love Gerrard to bits but he's not the Gerrard of old. injuries and age is the reason.

  15. Tevez is a brilliant footballer and he gives his all while playing so i would love to see him play for Liverpool but considering he is so much trouble i would only be happy with a loan deal till the end of season and its convenient for every party Liverpool will get a world class striker, Man City won't have to pay his wages till end of this season and they can sell him in summer and for Tevez he can get playtime.

If Liverpool finish in top 4, then in the summer Liverpool will have as good a chance of getting a world class player than any other team but without champions league Liverpool won't be as attractive to world class players, so champions league is really important for Liverpool and right now Tevez is the best option Liverpool can get.

  16. And two of those were penalties. i agree Gerrard can perform better than the rest of our team. but to say if we put him up for sale, he would attract the same interest two/ three years back is nonsense .

  17. Agree with you. who in their right frame of mind would want Carroll. and Liverpool know this. so why try and sell when you know there is no takers

  18. i believe Kenny  will change his behavior,i also believe TEVEZ will change given a chance to play again against city, look at Bellamy,he's a changed man,why not tevez?

  19. What does watching a live football match have to do with it? I've watched plenty, so what? I suppose if the supporters had hung the guy to the goal posts, as many would have liked to, you'd still be asking that question, 'been to a match before?'.

It was despicable unless you know for sure what was said last October. Do you?

As for Tevez, can't believe that people are willing to take a chance over this guy. I'd rather have Carroll any day of the week. His stupidity is down to being young and stupid and i hope and think he will grow up. Tevez is a pyscho and we already have one of them. And I'm not talking about Bellamy. Kenny needs to find a way to get Suarez, Carroll and Bellamy in the same team, with Kuyt and Downing as back up for Bellamy when necessary. Three up front, 3 in the midfield. Bellamy and Suarez can play either side and stick Carroll down the middle.

  20. Tevez anyday without a shout, proven at the highest level and maybe worth a risk on a loan spell. If that was possibly it would suit everyone especially if he's banging in the goals which would raise his market value by the summer. Point to note for mcity. Taking the emotion out of the situation would make the perfect footballing decision for a parties concerned. Tevez and suarez unfront with bellamy on the flanks....frightening but doubt it will happen.

I have a feeling that this informal was well calculated.  On one hand it leaks back to Andy and possibly motivates him in the same way Alonso played when we shopped him in that one winter window.  Alonso played super-duper after that window.  Whatever it takes sometimes i supose.  One the other hand we let the offer reach Tevez so he can reconsider his options.  His option is to loose another half season at a minimum if he doesn't agree soon.  He may ask City to work something out.  Has already agreed loss of wages conceeded bonuses etc.  A year missed in football is an eternity especially if your not even injured.  A few years back I was praying we signed him then.  That was just the player we needed going into that next year, problem was we didn't have the silly 28+- he cost at the time plus wages. WE needed and still need a hellraiser up front.  Kuyt-like hussle turned up a notch with vg technical ability and attacking understanding would yeild goals across the team.  I think he actually has the liverpool fight built into his ethos already.  im certain we'd have ten songs within the year for him.  i say get him for a 1.5 yr contract.  May be a clever pickup with a view to secure champions league, grab some cups, and sell his as-s for a profit as he peaks for more promising youth.  Lets use him as the mercmnary he is and cut him loose after.  He may actually work out quite well even as we all anticipate his contoversal issues.    Fact of the matter is he is kinda damaged goods and one could see this as a value buy, considering his transfer and wages would be fairly less since I feel he just wants to play and bridge some time to the next club.  When is the perfect time to buy something that has quality but at discount?  When it is percieved by most as damaged a bit or is trending lower in true overall value.   I say take a chance......!!!!  I have a feeling it just might work.  We can hedge the risk in a clever contract.  just my two cents...
