Wayne Rooney: 'I'm not a diver'. (Sorry, but the evidence proves you ARE a diver!)

Wayne Rooney has gone on the offensive today, claiming that he is not a diver and is 'honest player'. Well, let's take a look at the evidence, shall we?

In an interview, Rooney said: "Everyone who watches me play knows I am an honest player. I play the game as honestly as I can".

Really? Well I watch Rooney play, and I beg to differ about his 'honesty' as a player.

Exhibit A: Dive v Blackburn (2008)

Exhibit B: Dive v Spurs (2008) Rooney was booked for this one:

Exhibit C: Dive v Arsenal (2004)

Exhibit D: Dive v Arsenal (2009)

Exhibit E: Dive v Chelsea (2008)

These are cast iron dives, are they not?

Wayne - if you don't want people to think of you as a diver, there's a simple solution:

DON'T DIVE!

NB. Yes, I'm aware that Steven Gerrard dives, which is why I've written about it in the past HERE -------->>>

  2. If a defender produced a pistol and shot a United player inside the area when he was about to score there'd still be people claiming he didn't know the gun was loaded.

  4. i haft to agree he dived in all those clips. time for him to be punished aswell but it wont happen coz he is man u player and they get away with everything

  5. The Blackburn one was a penalty, but it was also a dive. He was fouled several times but then he did dive afterwards. The Spurs one was a dive, no excuse.

The Arsenal one from the weekend was a stonewall penalty, Almunia committed the foul, Rooney's left leg may have looked like he was already falling but he was just bending his knee. The other Arsenal one and the Chelsea ones look dubious but there could have been contact. They're more a case of being theattrical than diving.

  6. gerrard is the worst diver i've seen in england maybe post a few of him up instead of hurricane wayne, scuba steve is by far the biggest cheat in england

  7. 'They're more a case of being theattrical than diving.' If your comment is deemed as being correct then you are effectively saying that Rooney is trying to affect the referees decision. By that statement you have called Rooney a cheat. Eduardo affects referee decision 2 match ban. Rooney affects referee decision and it is being theatrical. Give me a break.

  8. I agree that Gerrard dives sometimes, and I've highlighted this on several occasions.  Gerrard will be making an appearance in the 'football cheats' series very soon.

  9. Exactly - the way people try and rationalise dives is amusing.  As you suggest, going down theatrically is an attempt to deceive the referee, which is cheating.

  10. Not once did I mention the Eduardo case, I actually think the ban is harsh, seeing as a red card offence only warrants a one game ban in the Champions League, but the difference is that Eduardo wasn't fouled so it can only have been a dive. Rooney was fouled, but went down theattrically because perhaps if he hadn't he wouldn't have got the free kicks/penalties that he would have deserved.

If Rooney doesn't go down theattrically, he doesn't get the free kicks/penalties even though he was fouled. Yes it's cheating and attempting to influence the ref's decision, but it almost does justice in that he gets the set piece for the foul.

  11. Yeah Wayne and the pope is not catholic.

  12. Theatrics as in overdoing the look of a foul when none has been committed is cheating yes. Overdoing it with a foul is just stupid as you may just end up getting booked for diving even though there is a foul. Just look at Drogba and other notorious divers. They've lost quite a few genuine penalties and freekicks due to their reputation. The Eduardo incident btw is not even close to being a foul. The Eduardo situation was more like Diaby's perfect dive when he came up against Evra.

  14. Dont be ridiculous, Rooney wasnt falling before Almunia took him down, and you are so dumb you say we should look at his right leg, when you circle his left leg. Thats proof enough that you are a turd !

  15. Gonna do one for Gerrard??? did'nt think so, think you're seeing all these through Anfield-Red tinted glasses!

  17. in your truly unbiased blog posts, when will you expose the king of all dives ? steven "hard" gerrard  ? i cant believe the hypocrisy where u post a blog denouncing "fans" who condone diving, yet u condone the diving of steven gerrard, your mighty captain/messiah.

  18. Don't talk nonsense.  I have highlighted Gerrard's diving *many* times.  Look at the bottom of the article above - there is a link to on of my articles which is critical of Gerrard.

When I am probably Gerrard's biggest critic when it comes to diving, how can I condone it?!

  19. For breaking Eduardo's leg, Taylor received 3 match ban... For 1 dive, Eduardo got 2... there is no logic! They are telling that diving is almost as bad as breaking legs to other footballers.
And if UEFA wants to be fair, Ronaldo and Drogba will be out for whole season...

  20. why do people keep going on about Gerrard, Jaimie has said numerous times that before you say that Gerrard's diving has been highlighted on this site and will continue to be highlighted on here. I'm a Liverpool fan and I too believe Gerrard dives and I would be more than happy for him to get a ban some day because these players are ruining football.

  21. Interesting how my previous comment - a well reasoned and eloquent reply about every team having divers (and Liverpool being just as guilty of this) has been removed. Hypocrisym anybody? It's hardly like I swore or was even offensive, I simply said something which some Liverpool fan didn't like, because as all Liverpool fans know, their team is perfect and don't cheat in the slightest. How dare someone question that!

NB I appreciate that the author of this article agrees Gerrard dives, but still that doesn't excuse deleting a perfectly unoffensive and logical post...

  22. If your post was removed it was because it contravened the comment policy somehow.  if you have a copy of the earlier post (email notification perhaps), please repost it so I ca have a look at it.  Cheers.

  23. I don't I'm afraid. I genuinely can't imagine what I said which could possibly be against any rules. But never mind, it's not that important :)

Hope FIFA thinks of some practical and efficient way of combating diving soon...

  24. Actually to every person on here who has said about the hypocrasy etc etc about not doing gerrard etc etc Jamie is constantly being berieved on here about his anti-liverpool/rafa/gerrard posts he does. Alot of people assume hes a manc. so actually if anyone is gonna highlight stevie's dives itll be him. And rightly so. Hes doing these in the attempt to disgrace those cheats that dive. Good man.

When players who play for the team I support take a dive I get embarresed and angry. These cheats have no place in football.
