Great News for Liverpool: Klopp confirms 'very good talks' with 'fantastic' £40m attacker

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Daniel Sturridge is very much in contention for a place in his last three matchday squads of the season.

Sturridge looked sharp during his 10-minute cameo at Watford, and showed great body strength to brush aside several defenders and force Heurelho Gomes into a save in the dying minutes of the game.

During his pre-match press conference today, Klopp described the chance as 'wonderful', and insisted that Sturridge is a 'very, very important option' for Liverpool during the final weeks of the season. He also noted:

“We’ve had very good talks. [He] Sturridge is doing something different today, then training with the team tomorrow. As long as it’s like this we can for sure have him and use him in the squad".

Klopp also admitted that Sturridge is 'not 100%' right now, which probably explains why he missed full team training today.

Whatever works, though - if Sturridge needs a training regime specifically tailored to his needs, then so be it if it means he plays more games.

That said, I'll only believe that Sturridge hasn't succumbed to yet another injury when his name is included in the matchday squad on Sunday, and even then, I'll be keeping an eye on the pre-match warm up ;-)

^ Sturridge: £40m-rated. Dec 2016: Hailed as 'fantastic' by Lee Dixon.
